The Beginning of an Obsession | May 2014 | Day 7 | Animal Kingdom & DTD

After last nights' MK shenanigans we had a little lie in before tackling our second visit to Animal Kingdom. Looking back I really wish we'd done more here. A lot of people say it's a half day park but we spent more than half days there and didn't even touch any of the treks, so that's one for next time.

Posing at the bus stop, as you do.

Once we were through the gates we headed straight for the safari, but we stopped to snap a few photos of this little guy on the way. I love macaws, they're absolutely beautiful! He kept saying hello as well

Even though we had a FastPass booked, we had a little bit of a wait. But the safari was my favourite attraction in all of AK so I honestly didn't mind.

I didn't get any fantastic photos of the animals with me being sat in the middle of the car, so I'll spare you all of the generic ones.

We hadn't had any breakfast yet at this point so we headed to a little counter service place called Tamu Tamu Refreshments to fuel up. I opted for the fresh fruit salad served in a pineapple and Lewis went for the chicken salad with pita.

They both went down a treat. Don't get me wrong, we were loving the American food, but it was nice to have something a little lighter (I say as we both still scoffed the cheesecakes for dessert )

The salads, desserts and two drinks were bought using 2 quick service credits.

Once we were fed and watered, we made our way over to Dinoland USA for Dinosaur. I do really enjoy this ride, but I swear they notched up the intensity this time since our car was primarily made up of adults!

I have sensitive ears (read: I don't like jump scares) so I kept a finger covering my ear throughout the entire ride

We caught a couple of shows afterwards; Finding Nemo the Musical and Flights of Wonder. We enjoyed them both, but I think Flights of Wonder holds a special place for me since they use rats in the show and I have 3 myself.

We hadn't explored Rafiki's Planet Watch yet, so we took the little train over and had a little look inside before heading into my element (the petting zoo).

When I was washing up to head back inside something awful happened. The biggest bug I've EVER SEEN decided to pick me as it's target and chased me around the petting zoo. I couldn't tell you what it was but I nearly cried. Nearly.

We were going to wait for the little show and tell thing they do outside but a CM said it was a bit too hot and that she'd be bringing something out inside the building. We were basically the only two interested so when she brought out an opossum we could nosy all we wanted. The CM who brought him out was lovely actually, we got into a conversation about my rats back home and she mentioned the ones from the Flights of Wonder show. Apparently when they get a group in they name them from a theme i.e. food, Disney villains etc.

We met Rafiki after in what is possibly the most awkward moment on my life. I kid you not, he must have stood there with his arm out for a full 2-3 minutes before I realised that he wanted me to take his hand and link arms. I haven't met many characters in my time okay?

Yak n Yeti (counter service) was on our hit list before we wanted to leave the park, so we popped in for a late lunch. We both opted for the honey chicken and banana pudding. The little carton you get these in is ridiculously deceiving. You get an absolute ton of food and I could barely manage half of it.

The banana pudding was a winner. It was so creamy and the perfect end to what was actually a really nice use of a counter service meal.

Once full up we headed out of Animal Kingdom (completing a survey on our way out) and back to our room for a little nap - and possibly a small trip to Walmart for some sinus stuff, I can't remember - before venturing to DTD.

We honestly had no issues with the construction at DTD. It was busy, yes, but it in no way created any disappointment for us. We wandered about a few of the shops including Basin (heaven) and World of Disney (an even better heaven) and then made our way over to Wolfgang Puck Express for dinner.

I had planned to bring home two Olaf cuddly toys for my cousins but these t-shirts were about the only Frozen merchandise I could find in all of WDW, so ended up getting these. I may have also bought some bath bombs and that Lady Pillow Pet later on in the holiday...

In Wolfgang Puck Express I suggested to Lewis, after my extensive Dibb research, that he try the bacon wrapped meatloaf. He loved it folks

I opted for the four cheese pizza which was equally as delicious, and we both went for ice cream to finish. People are right when they say WPE is the best value for a quick service credit - I think our bill came close to $50? So not bad at all if you want to eat somewhere a bit nicer while still on the QSDP.

We loved it so much we went back! I remember our server being really nice here too, he really helped Lewis out when he went to ask about taxis to Universal.

We then meandered back to CBR not long after to rest up for our first day at Universal in the morning

Thank you It's a Canon EOS M with a 22mm f/2 lens. Although on this day I think I used the 18-55mm lens. I bought it here Although it was about £40 more when I bought it in January!

I bought it specifically for Florida but I use it all the time, definitely better than lugging around a huge DSLR
