Talking Disneyland Bounders Sept 14 - Day 1

I literally slept for about 3 hours! Strange bed syndrome and too much excitement!

Hotel phone rang at 6am for our wake up call. Who was on the other end of the phone telling us to get up? Non other than the main man himself! Oliver loved getting the phone calls from Mickey every morning, such a cute touch, well done Disney!

We were up and ready for our 7am breakfast slot.

Today’s Disneybounding outfits were based on Peter Pan.
I wore a blue dress with a thimble necklace for Wendy, Gen wore a blue and white stripy top, jeans and a red bow for Smee (although it was pointed out she just looked like she was taking the mick out of the French, whoops!), Mum wore black pants, white blouse and a red cardi for Hook and Oliver wore his cute little (actually huge) Peter Pan costume.
Really should have taken a group photo of our outfits but nevermind!

Breakfast was the usual European deal. Cereals, pastries, fruit, yogs and meats. I think we sampled them all! Wasn’t too shabby for free food! I will admit that my stomach still wasn’t right so I only had a couple of spoonfuls of cereal then Oliver polished my bowl off!

We set off to the parks at 7:40. It was a really nice stroll from the hotel, only took 5 mins! Seriously don’t get why folk use the buses from the three hotels round the lake (Newport, New York and Sequoia) when they don’t need to! It’s a beautiful walk and no doubt quicker than a bus!

Also, aren’t the little bag check conveyor belt x-ray things good! They will save loads of time if you’re queuing to get in! Florida should get some of those if they haven’t already!

Anyways, we rocked up at Disneyland Park just in time for them opening the gates. There were only about 20 other people waiting by the gates!

Loved seeing the Castle for the first time, it so amazing and Oliver loved it! He loves a good castle bless him! After about 20,000 photos of Main Street we headed through the castle and into Fantasy Land. All the cast members said hello and were really friendly and a lot of them said ‘hello Peter’ to Oliver but he was totally oblivious bless him!

The first ride of choice was Peter Pans flight which was a walk on. I love this ride but Oliver was very unsure, it was very dark and a bit noisy for him! Oliver has a strategy though, anything that is a bit noisy or scary or whatever he just sticks his fingers in his ears and all is safe in the world! He did a lot of fingers in ears this week! On a side note, I did all our nails before we went as I do gel nails and having gel nails means your nails glow bright white under UV lights so we sure looked awesome on this ride!

These are my Disney nails. My only talent is nail art and I'm not very good at that!

Next up was the carousel. Mum and Gen don’t do round and round rides so it was just me and Oliver for this one! He decided he wanted to go on a horse but swiftly changed his mind when he saw how big they were so he opted for one of the carriages or ‘big chairs’ instead! He really enjoyed waving to Mum and Gen and pointing out the castle every time we went past it! Plus the carousel music versions of the Disney songs are amazing!

Dumbo was the next ride. Again, Mum and Gen sat this one out so Oliver chose one of the purple ones and we hopped in! He loved waving to them two again every time we went round but I was pretty disappointed as our uppy downy lever didn’t work so it took some of the fun out of it!

We left Fantasy Land and headed to Discovery Land and Buzz Lightyear! Oliver was pretty excited by Buzz until we walked into the building and you can hear Zurg on the walkie talkie then it was fingers in ears and that’s where they stayed! He really hated the ride, he went in a car with Mum and he just clung to her the whole way round with his head buried in her, he was terrified poor kid! I did absolutely rubbish this time, I got 68200 and Gen won with 249700! I don’t think Mum got anything since she was too busy cuddling Oliver! On the way out we had a spy in the shop and Mum got Oliver the Buzz lazer gun this that makes sounds and stuff, FYI...the most annoying toy in the world!

Me and Gen decided to do Space Mountain next while Mum and Oliver did some people watching. Gen pointed out when we watched it speed off up the mountain that it didn’t look that fast really...haha! We waited about 25mins and when we finally got on and it shot us up the mountain it was so speedy! Not quite as fast as Rock and Rollercoaster or the Hulk but still fast enough to give you the funny feeling in your tummy!

By now the park had opened to the public and the rest of the ‘Lands’ were open too so we ventured into Adventure Land for a wander. We wanted to take Oliver on Hooks ship to play but it wasn’t open yet so we went to the back so me and Gen could go on Indiana Jones. We only waited 5 mins. It’s a fab ride, wish it still went backwards though! While we were on the ride Mum had taken Oliver to one of the little shops where he had picked up a toy lizard and snake to keep himself amused so Mum bought them for him.

We really wanted to see about a photopass card so we headed out of Adventure Land at about 10:30 and down main street to the shop on the corner to ask about it. The lady in there knew nothing and said you just pick up a card when you see Mickey...thanks lady. When we headed back out we saw Minnie across the road and a queue forming quickly for her so we swiftly joined it! We ended up waiting about an hour and it was pretty difficult to keep Oliver entertained but he was good bless him even if he did get really bored! His face just lit up when it was his turn. He needed a bit of coaxing to get him right up to her but once he had had his first cuddle he was loving it and posed happily for pictures by himself and with us lot as well.

After lots of kisses and waves we said goodbye to Minnie and went in search of some lunch. It wasn’t quite 12 yet but now the initial excitement, nerves and anticipation had died away my stomach realised it hadn’t had a decent meal in days and it was hungry!
We stopped at Casey’s Corner and ordered 2classic hotdogs, 1 cheese hotdog and 3 lots of fries to share between us and it came to €32. We didn’t order drinks as we had bought water bottles to fill at the fountains and some of that Robinsons Squashed stuff which was really handy and no doubt saved us a bit not having to buy drinks!

After lunch at 12:15 we went into Frontier Land for a look around then decided to head out of the park and back to the hotel for a siesta.

We did hit some shops on the way back though! World of Disney was the first stop and I have to say I was a tad disappointed with it compared to the one in Downtown Disney size wise! I expected it to be on a similar scale but it’s tiny! Still got some nice things in though. I bought some really cute dog bowls for Bella with all the Disney doggies on for €8 and some Jack Skellington socks for Ross which were €10. After World of Disney Mum went straight back to the hotel to try and settle Oliver for a nap and me and Gen hit some of the shops in the Village. I saw lots of cute things in the fashion shop and the Lego shop is really cool, I picked myself up a Donatello Ninja Turtles keyring for €5 in there and then a super cute tutu princess dress for Ariana in World of Toys for €32.

Made of little bits of lego! Awesome!

Having spent enough for one day we went back to join Mum and Oliver at 2:30. Oliver and Gen had a nap and Mum and I just chilled, although as soon as it was time to head back out I really wished I had slept as well!

The view over the lake from the back of our hotel

At 4:30 we left the hotel and went back to the park to find some tea. Our initial idea was to go to Cornel Hathi’s Pizza but that was closed!
So we went into Frontier Land to find the Backyard BBQ place. When we found it we saw Pluto outside and Oliver got really excited but his minder said he was just going for a break at would be back in 20 mins. That was ok though cause we would just grab some food from the BBQ place and sit on the tables outside and wait for him. Only the BBQ place shut at 5 and it was now 7 mins past! Great!

So after looking on the map we decided to go to Bella Note Pizza in Fantasy Land and bring it back to eat here and wait for Pluto. We had to explain to a rather upset Oliver that Pluto had gone for some tea so we had better get some too then come back and give him a cuddle!

The only problem now was that that area of Fantasy Land was rammed because the parade was on soon so it took forever to squeeze in and then we were confronted with a massive queue!
After I decided what to have I decided to go back to the BBQ place with Oliver to see Pluto while they got the food. So I had to squeeze back out of the crowds then I absolutely legged it with Oliver in the buggy back to Frontier Land, everyone was looking at me and I looked like a right plank but I will do anything for my lad and we were going to see Pluto even if I died on the way!

We arrived back 5 mins after Pluto was due to reappear and he wasn’t there! I was a tad scared we had missed him as Oliver was asking where he was! I was so out of breath and it was sooooo hot that I just collapsed on one of the benches and prayed to god that he would appear soon! And he did about two mins later accompanied by Goofy! Oliver went nuts!

We were the only people there so we rushed up to them and Oliver got their autographs and I took some pics of him, he got to spend some good time with them before some more people came so we waved goodbye. After a couple of mins they were alone again so we went back up for another cuddle and asked their minder if she would mind taking some pics of me and Oliver with them both.

Not long after Pluto and Goofy went for some more tea (according to Oliver) the pizza arrived, which made me glad I came back over rather than waiting for the pizza with them or we would have missed Pluto and Goofy by minutes! We got 3 cheese pizzas and a little Mickey ears shaped pizza for Oliver which came to €38. Totally forgot to take pics but it was the scrummiest pizza ever!

After we were all full up we wandered through Adventure Land to Fantasy Land. I was really disappointed we didn’t see Peter Pan or anyone today, it would have looked cool with our outfits but never mind!

We took Oliver on Small World which he thought was the best thing ever and asked to go on again! I don’t think we could have taken another verse of that song so we swiftly distracted him with the idea of going on a train! It did the trick and we went up to the train station to catch the train to Main Street. Oliver loves trains so he was in his element going ‘choo choo’ the whole way round!

Once we disembarked we walked up Main Street and plonked our bums on the kerb at the front of the hub to wait for Dreams. At this point it was only 7:15 but there was already a good few folk getting spots for it and I really wanted good seats so I didn’t mind waiting!

We had brought the iPad for Oliver to play with while we waited which worked a treat! He played on angry birds for an hour and a half!

While we waited Mum and Gen decided to go for a shop on Main Street while I sat with bags to keep the seats then when they came back we swapped and I went for a wander. I called Ross and we had a good chat while I walked up and down Main Street then I went into a couple of shops. I got a Christmas decoration from one but then they started to get crazy busy so I went back to our spot on the kerb.

Spotted this door while I was on the phone, wonder if it's real casting area or just a door backstage

Dreams was AMAZING. I cannot describe how incredible it was. I know a lot of you will hate me for this but I honestly think it absolutely trumps Wishes by miles, it doesn’t even compare. The projections onto the castle are amazing and the water fountains just add something different and the fireworks just top it off. Oliver wasn’t too keen but he was OK with his fingers in his ears except for the villains bit with the fire, he really didn’t like that! I took a lot of pictures and filmed most of it which at the time I regretted cause I always do that and end up watching things on my camera screen rather than the real thing!
Apologies but here is five million photos of Dreams...

I'm sorry I know that's a lot of pics but its AMAZING!

It finished at half 9 and we slowly made our way out of the park and through the village.

We stopped off at Rainforest Cafe and booked tea tomorrow at 6:30 and Cafe Mickey to book a character breakfast for tomorrow morning but they were all booked up and they were very busy inside so Mum decided to ask at the hotel about other mornings.

Once back at the hotel Mum went over to the concierge desk and booked Cafe Mickey for Thursday morning at 8am.
While she was doing that I got distracted by a cocktail menu outside the bar. I am a massive cocktail fan and this menu was huge! I was approached by the barman who said he wrote the menu so anything I wanted I just needed to ask him.
It was the start of a beautiful friendship.
Awais (aka the best barman ever) made me a Light & Colours cocktail which was made of raspberry vodka, green apple liqueur, strawberry mix fruit, passion fruit nectar and pineapple juice in a glass with a funky flashing ice cube thing and a fanned apple, genius! Mum got a bottle of wine (it did last her the whole trip sp don’t judge!), Gen got an amaretto sours and Oliver got an orange juice in a funky Cars cup with a flashing McQueen straw. It all came to €63 which is a lot but the cocktails were lush and Mum was set on the alcohol front for the week!

We took the drinks upstairs and got Oliver settled in bed and we had our drinkies while I called Ross.
We eventually settled down to sleep at 11pm, knackered!

I cannot wait to see Dreams! We missed most of Wishes when we went to MK, so I'm really hoping to get chance to see Dreams!

Beautiful photos from a great day! So worth all the frantic running across the lands to get those lovely photos with Pluto and Goofy, especially both of you with both characters- lovely!
