NYC to Orlando Road Trip - Day 4 - Philadelphia, PA (Applebees, Six Flags and Arriving in Philly)
We woke up today to our last morning in New York, and unfortunately, we also woke up to Stuart announcing he had a sore throat!
So, we got the last of bits and bobs together and headed out for breakfast, popping into Duane Reade first for some antiseptic throat spray for Stu. We then decided to just go to Applebees, as it was across the road from the pharmacy and only a couple of minutes from our hotel. I was pretty peckish, but with Stuart feeling a bit under the weather, he didn't fancy much to eat. I had Breakfast Sliders... And Stuart just had some toast and bacon... We had an apple juice each, and I was obv happy with my sliders... The meal was good, and was just what we needed to kick start a long day! We then headed back to the hotel, and got our bags and cases together, then walked to Port Authority Bus Terminal, via Times Square. It was only around a 5-10 minute walk, so it was annoying we taxied it on the way in! There was a bus to Newark already there, so we jumped on and off we went! We were heading back to Newark to pick up our hire car, so we could really get our road trip going! We were a bit confused getting to the car hire pickup, but we ended up heading into the terminal, then out again to the bus area, then getting a bus to pick up our car. We had requested a Jeep Cherokee, which there was none of, but we easily accepted a Ford Edge (I think!) and got minimal hassle from the employees at Dollar. Our car for the next 2 weeks! And off we went! First stop... Six Flags Great Adventure! The Sat Nav said it should take 1 hour, 30 mins and I believe this was pretty much spot on, might've been closer to 2 hours, but ah well, it was our first journey! Stuart, happy to be driving! First roadside photo, a large cowboy! We'd arrived! What can I say. This was one of the most fun things we did on the holiday! If you like/love rollercoasters, Six Flags is for you! We managed every single ride in the park, and were here until 8pm I believe. The coasters were great, and the main attraction, Kingda Ka, was AMAZING! What a thrill ride, and defo the best rollercoaster that either of us have been on. We had burger and fries when we arrived at the park (around 1pm I believe). We needed this! Some other photos from our day at Six Flags... An Instagram Classic... Had to get some Dippin' Dots! We HATED these groups of kids that you always get in parks, always there, no matter where you look, trying to skip queues etc! They were driving us mad! Also... had to get ourselves a cheeky Coke Freestyle for the road! When we were too tired to ride any more coasters and the sky was starting to get a bit dark, we decided it was time to hit the road and head to our next direction... Philadelphia! When we arrived at the hotel, Sheraton Philadelphia Downtown, it was safe to say we just wanted to eat then sleep. We first headed to the hotel bar/restaurant, where we sat for around 10 minutes with NO ONE coming to help us! This didn't please us considering how tired and hungry we were, so we headed to the concierge desk and were recommended a local pizzeria. So we placed an order, headed to the gift shop to get some pain killers and cold/flu tablets for Stu, then went back to the room to await our food. The food arrived at last! Pepperoni Pizza and Garlic Dough Sticks... also our breakfast for the next day! After consuming a few slices, we just zonked off! Coming up next... Our first day in Philadelphia and the Biggest Mall in USA!

Hey! Thanks for reading we got the bus (replacement for airtrain as there was maintenance works) from Newark to PORT AUTHORITY, not Grand Central, don't want you to get confused! But it was super easy, and super central, literally 2 mins from Times Square so would defo recommend Easy Peasy
It was FANTASTIC! Couldn't recommend it enough. Glad you are enjoying reading along
