The Beginning of an Obsession | May 2014 | Day 9 | IOA/Universal/Boardwalk

Another Universal day was on the cards today. We wanted to explore WWOHP before getting soaked on the rapids, so decided to pay a visit to IOA and this part of the park first thing.

I do really love the theming in this area of the park. First up was a visit to Hogwarts itself. We began with the walking tour since I was too much of a wuss to ride Forbidden Journey. I'm so glad I went in anyway because it really was like stepping into the movie.

Lewis joined the single rider queue once we'd finished the tour while I wandered around the gift shop. I spotted this adorable Scabbers plush but he was a little pricey, and I had 3 actual rats back at home anyway

I decided to nip to the loos while I waited for Lewis, but the only ones I could remember seeing were the ones where Moaning Myrtle hung around. This was a bit further away than the gift shop and consequently we both spent forever looking for each other afterwards.

Lewis was honest with me and told me he thought FJ might have been a bit too intense for my liking, which I appreciated. He also rode Dragon Challenge which was a walk on.

Since we'd discovered the heavenly creation that was frozen Butterbeer yesterday, we naturally went and bought another.

We also picked up some goodies from Honeydukes. We got a chunk of peanut butter fudge and some Fizzing Whizbees. When we were looking at the fudge Lewis told me a woman had said to someone behind the counter "Wow, do you make all this fudge yourselves?" and she replied with "No we have an outside supplier for these." I personally found this a little bit disappointing but never mind. The fudge was nice but not particularly special.

There was a huge queue outside of Ollivanders and since we weren't really interested in buying wands we gave it a miss and headed over to Seuss Landing.

We hopped on the trolley train ride which had some decent views of the park.

I don't think I was too pleased about having my picture taken there

We also rode The Cat in the Hat which was good fun, and headed over to see the Sinbad show. While we waited we got talking to a couple a similar age to us from (I think) Ohio. They were really nice and advised us not to splurge on the pumpkin juice as it wasn't very nice

I enjoyed the show, it was pretty funny in parts although I find the Disney shows a bit more entertaining.

Blutos' Barges were next on our list, and since we got so drenched on them we thought we'd buy a poncho each before hopping on. Literally as soon as we'd handed over our cash and put our ponchos on, this happened...

Our first glimpse of Florida rain! The closed Blutos' Barges as soon as the rain came down but we decided to queue anyway. We waited for about half an hour and the two other families waiting were offered FOTL passes for another ride but we were never offered them? We decided the ride wasn't reopening so left and made our way towards the entrance to have a look around the gift shops before moving to the Studios.

We rode E.T. again and Men in Black a fair few times before calling it a day and heading out of the park around 5PM.

We spotted these gorgeous Scooby Doo cuddly toys on our way out. I would have brought one home for my mam as she loves him but they were huge!

I find those two globe photos hilarious because I look tiny in comparison to the one of Lewis

Our driver dropped us off just next to our room back at Disney and we got changed and headed to the Boardwalk.

I really do love the Boardwalk area, it's so beautiful. We grabbed some food from the bakery and took a seat next to the water. We both had sandwiches which were amazing yet again. While we were eating there were two kids near the railings shouting about turtles/tortoises(?) in the water. Curiosity got the better of me so I went to have a look and sure enough, there was!

Turns out they were after the food the kids were throwing in.

We finished off our dinner with a cheesecake brownie (Lewis) and salted caramel ganache (me). Both were really tasty although I thought mine could have done without the salt on top as it made it a little too salty. The inside was heavenly though.

We had a little wander around after that, some of the snacks they sell look so impressive!

This guy also entertained us for a bit before we called it a night and took the boat back to HS to catch the bus back to CBR. The Swan & Dolphin hotel looks beautiful at night.

Tomorrow is Typhoon Lagoon and yet another visit to good old Magic Kingdom!

Great day and I know I say this on every day but your photos are amazing!

How funny, we must have swapped parks at the exact same time, we sheltered from that storm underneath the transformers queue and then headed over to IOA.

Boardwalk at night looks amazing!
