The Beginning of an Obsession | May 2014 | Day 10 | Typhoon Lagoon & Magic Kingdom

On our agenda for today was a morning in Typhoon Lagoon followed by the rest of the day in Magic Kingdom. In hindsight I really wish we'd made more time for the water parks as we really enjoyed it.

Unfortunately no photos from TL as my camera isn't particularly waterproof. It was looking a bit grey outside today and after the downpour at Universal yesterday we were expecting more rain, but we headed over to Typhoon Lagoon anyway.

We rented a locker and made a beeline for the lazy river. I'm not the greatest of swimmers so this was about as much as I'd do but I found it so relaxing. We spent a good chunk of time in here before wandering around for Lewis to do some slides. He also swam with the sharks which he really enjoyed. I'd love to do this but I can't even tread water so it's a big no go for me.

We also enjoyed the wave pool (me in the shallowest of ends of course) before calling it a day and making our way back to CBR to get ready.

Thankfully the rain hadn't yet started and when we arrived at Magic Kingdom we were starving. We decided to check out Cosmic Rays since it was on our "restaurants to try" list.

We both opted for the chicken burger and fries, and I chose a carrot cake for dessert while Lewis went for the chocolate cake. The chicken was actually really nice and not dry at all, something I'd definitely have again, and the carrot cake has sparked an obsession within me.

Not long after we left Cosmic Rays, the rain started. I felt like a bit of a traitor donning my Universal poncho in Disney World, but needs must and all that. I did wear a Mickey Mouse tee to Universal, after all.

We ducked into a couple of rides (Little Mermaid and Philharmagic) and once we were out the rain had stopped, so we queued for the Carousel.

It was when we were on this that we looked over and saw the queue time for Anna and Elsa. Rather them than me I have to admit!

We thought the park was pretty quiet today, but I assume that's because everyone was queuing to meet the princesses

We had a FP+ booked for Peter Pan next, and once we got out the rain started again. We tried to soldier through it through Liberty Square and Frontierland, but it was getting so heavy and ducked for cover at Jungle Cruise in Adventureland. We'd been there for 10 days and hadn't even touched Adventureland yet

The entrance to Jungle Cruise started to get a little bit crowded, so we just decided to brave it and go back to New Fantasyland for another go on the Little Mermaid ride. We headed to Big Top Souvenirs afterwards and finally decided to splurge on a caramel apple.

We settled on the apple pie apple on the CMs recommendations and took it over to Gaston's Tavern where we ordered ourselves a LeFou's Brew.

The apple was soooo good, but I'm glad we got one to share because we couldn't have managed a full one on our own! We rode a few more rides and got this hilarious picture of Lewis on Buzz.

We took a seat for the Main Street Electrical Parade not long after but were a bit concerned that it might end up cancelled due to the looming black skies ahead.

It went ahead as planned though, yay! I love this parade, the music is so upbeat and fun and you can't help but smile all the way through it. I'm not the biggest fan of the patriotic float at the end though. Probably because I'm not an American

We maintained our positions for Celebrate the Magic and Wishes and while it's a great place to grab a centre view of the castle, my god was I frustrated. Kids hoisted on shoulders, people invading your personal space at all angles and having your feet trampled on ruined the experience a little bit. Lewis didn't have as much as a problem with him being 6'4, but it really tainted my enjoyment of it

I got a few decent photos after standing on my tiptoes for an age. Hopefully the construction of the hub will disperse the amount of people a bit more evenly.

We made a beeline for the exit afterwards and took the bus back to the hotel. A journey to the Florida Mall was on the cards tomorrow!

Just had a good catch up with the last few days of your report. I absolutely love how colourful and vibrant all your photos are! Everything looks soo pretty The picture of the balloons against the sky just before the parade is stunning!

All the food is making me drool, as ever I think Simon & I will steer clear of the Duff and Flaming Moe's on your recommendation...those prices are a bloody rip off for something that's not even nice! xx

It was ridiculous, and that was the price without a tip! The donut is worth every cent though xx

Ahhh Magic Kingdom! I know exactly what you mean about the hub, you can't move can you! The amount of people pushing as well is silly, hopefully it will be a lot better with the new hub layout.

I remember those clouds! We were super worried Wishes would be cancelled as we had the dessert party and they don't let you rebook it... glad it wasn't!

Yep, I'm glad we got into the FastPass area a couple of times because it made it so much more relaxing.

I didn't know they don't let you rebook the dessert party if Wishes is cancelled, that's such a shame! Glad it wasn't and you got to do it though. I was considering it for next year but Lewis wasn't sure!

Totally know what you mean about the hub and children on shoulders - I get it's the easiest way to hold them, but you could really just leave them on the ground till the actual thing starts and then hold them on your hip or something so that their heads are at an adult shoulder, which is perfectly high enough to see without obscuring everyone behind's view!

I could (and did) whinge on so much about it, it did my head in! Like I didn't mind with Wishes but with Celebrate the Magic I couldn't see so much because of little heads being in the way
