Day 2 - 6/11/14 Some Snacking, Soarin, Spaceships and Shopping!

Hello Guys and Gals of The Dibb ,

Hopefully this one has not been as such a long wait as the previous day.

So today was Epcot with snacking around the world for lunch, eek excited!

Well after an exhausting day yesterday and a rather late bedtime we were wide awake by 5:36am (check the specific times, this doesn’t last! ). We were up and had our first in apartment breakfast of Museli with fresh fruit and Maurice had some toast, it isn’t that exciting but I don’t really like American breakfast and Maurice likes them to much but being the health freak he is he wont allow himself to have it to often so our normal home breakfast worked perfect.

Oh and for anyone that is interested I had on my international gateway bow since we were snacking around the world today.

We got to Epcot for 9am and the park was already looking soo busy, this was a recommended day and I was really surprised by how busy it felt.

We had a Soarin fastpass for 9am and I got a bit lost trying to find it (turns out I can’t read maps!) and ended up with us at Test Track Maurice thought this looked amazing but the queue time was already 30minutes (see what I mean it was only just 9:15) and I didn’t want us to miss the Soarin FP so we gave it a miss and headed to Soarin.

We got in straight away then had about a 5-10 minute wait until we loaded. I was going to ask for the front row but I panicked a bit and didn’t know who to ask so just went were I was told which meant we got the second row (gutted dangly feet). I knew all along Maurice was going to love this ride but he was just in awe of it really was amazing to watch him. Actually at some points during the ride I just kept watching him because of how happy he looked. I love this ride and have only done it once before in California so it was great to see.

Straight from Soarin we went on Living With The Land another new one for me, it was a lovely wee trip round the green houses and as usual lots of photos, its only now looking back at the pictures I can see so many Hidden Mickeys.

After LWTL we had a quick stop in Sunshine Seasons for a Coffee for Maurice, I had a look about but I didn’t really fancy anything plus I was hoping to start snacking around the world soon.

We headed over to Figment next and noticed just how much it was heating up, I enjoyed Figment but Maurice was just confused by it he doesn’t really get those types of rides although he liked playing with the musical instruments at the end haha such a child.

We had a FP for Nemo next which we both loved it was really cleverly done. Afterwards we went to have a look in the aquariums, those things are massive and it was really good seeing the Dolphins. Maurice just loved watching all the fish and we ended up spending a really long time in there.

It was now about 11:45 and time to hit World Showcase.

We decided to go right and start at the UK the first food stall was Scotland which had a pretty busy queue but we passed up the opportunity for veggie haggis.

It was unbelievably busy and I was starting to think the snacking round the world idea was a bad one. Maurice is not a fan of snacks for lunch but I thought with all the variety he would enjoy this the problem was the mammoth queues that he would need to wait in to get any of the tasty food. We pretty much bombed it through Canada and then the UK.

Then into France where he stopped long enough for some PP pictures, but france had the worse queues we had seen so far which meant no Grey Goose Slushies for me (this fact is still upsetting me even now!).

I had picked up the cool little Food and Wine Passport and would try and read out the menus as we sped walked through the countries. When we reached the Brazil stand he suddenly decided he really wanted to try the “Mocequa de Pescado – Tilapia with Coconut Lime Sauce and Steamed Rice” but promised me that it had nothing at all to do with the fact that it was now 12:30 (lunchtime) and it was the first stall we had came to with a queue of less than 3 people!

Anyway one of those was purchased and wow it was amazing (even though I only got a tiny bit) it was super tasty I wish we had got more than one of them!

It was getting really warm by now and we were both struggling with the heat, I had not dressed appropriately today and was basically wearing 4 tops layered on top of each other so it was not good clothing choices for wandering round the entirely open world showcase. We had also forgotten to bring any of the water we purchased yesterday with us so it was back in the queue to get a bottle of water. Anyway we had a little sit down and listened to the Brazilian music they had playing before moving on.

Up next was Morocco I love this part I always have and it looked so familiar, funnily enough so far only World Showcase looked familiar to me the rest of Epcot I really didn’t recognize from my trip 11 years ago. Maybe its just the part that has changed least but it felt very familiar to wander round.

I really wanted to try a kefta Pocket so I queued up and grabbed one for $5 I thought this was a good price all the snacks were around that price and it seemed reasonable.

Again this was really tasty I just wish it was a bit bigger!

We had a slow walk through Japan again giant F&W queues put paid to any snacking plans but I did manage some pictures this time

Then on to America where Maurice had a restroom break and I got myself a Blue Raspberry Slush! It was so good and I have written in my notes all drinks should be in slushy format I think that says it all about my love of slushies!

It was 1:30 by this point and as I hadn’t planned on being there all day we decided to skip the Voices of Liberty show and move on to Italy. Italy is Maurice favourite place in the world so we managed to stop for a number of pictures here (again no snacking!)

(I think this is the bit you can have weddings on which I just think is gorgeous so I had to take a photo!).

Then it was on to Germany were someone was getting hungry again (short queue!) so we settled on a Roast Bratwurst in a Pretzel Roll. This was really tasty and the smell of german sausages is always so appealing.

Oh and I did go into Karamell Kuche but when I turned around to tell Maurice I was going to buy some things I couldn’t find him. I then spent a good 10 minutes trying to find him and when he did appear again he was now bored and ready for moving on so I figured there was no point dragging him into another shop as we were coming back to World Showcase on my birthday.

On to China next…

…for some Chicken potstickers these were $4, they were just amazing I could have easily bought another 3 or 4 of these they were fantastic! I love how slick the whole process is of paying for it then them just dishing up your chosen item so well planned.

It was now 2pm and boy was it hot, they have turned so much of Norway into Frozen land and inside this building they have a whole museum style room showing how Norway inspired Frozen.

It is a nice idea but I imagine lots of people are going to start thinking that Arendale is a real place in Norway and maybe not understand that it just provided a tiny inspiration, mind you I heard not 1 but 2 adults telling their children “oh look this is China” while we were in Japan!

Mexico next and this place is my Mum and Dad’s favourite, even now my mum still tells people about the amazing building you go inside that makes it look like you are outside at night….

It was really nice to get in here out of the heat so we had a little ride on the boat ride, I actually had been on this before and remembered it (a first for me so far this trip) there wasn’t much of a queue for the ride but in general it was still pretty busy inside the pavilion.

I didn’t want to totally burn Maurice out so early on in the holiday. So the plan was we would leave in the middle of the day.

He fancied doing another ride so I checked the app and managed to get us a last minute FP+ for Spaceship earth (I did have a different fastpass for later I just changed the time to fit in with us leaving). We started heading out of World Showcase to use our Fastpass then go do some shopping at the Outlets…..

….but we got a bit distracted by the amazing looking garlic Shrimp in Australia so one of those was purchased for $4.75 I also forgot to take a picture sorry!

Anyway after a Shrimp break we took a wander through MouseGear wow was it busy in here, the Christmas clothes were looking amazing I really need to get a few things!

We FP+’d straight on to Spaceship Earth, another new one for me (ok I promise to stop saying that as I realise almost every single ride is new for me), and I really enjoyed it, I especially liked the cheesy photos at the end. Mainly because even now stuff like that amazes Maurice, honestly its like I brought him back from the Victorian times sometimes!

We headed out the park and got one last PP stop on the way, by this point I had given up on one of my layers and decided I didn’t care how fat I looked I was overheating to much to continue.

Another unprompted Magic Shot! I am sure we could have asked for more but there was always such big queues for the PP photographers that I felt a little bit self conscious asking!

We headed straight for the Vineland Premium Outlets and got a parking space right away near Ralph Lauren (I really wish we had appreciated the handy parking spots we got at the start of the holiday because by the end it was a nightmare!). There was so much stuff in RL for Maurice but he wasn’t really wanting to get anything for himself at the moment. Banana Republic was next door and he finally picked up the long awaited underwear (he loves their underwear!).

By now it was 4:20 and Maurice was getting peckish so we had a quick Taco Bell stop in the Foodcourt he just got the 3 crunchy Taco deal with a large drink all for $6.81. I picked up the discount booklet at the information point inside the foodcourt and made a plan of what shops we could use it in.

Next on the list was the Character Warehouse I knew the key was to go in here often as they get different things in each day and that really proved true I got so many great deals in here but for today it was just 3 lovely notepads.

This one was $6.95 on sale for $1.99, it has a little magnet on the back for sticking to your fridge.

These two were $6.95 each on sale for $2.99

I was really pleased with them and made a note to try and get back in here another few times. Oh for anyone with kids you should really try and get here the prices of the toys and clothes was amazing, I got some brilliant bargains on later days for my friends children.

Next on the list was sketchers, I hadn’t purchased Go Walks at home as I had already bagged 2 pairs of crocs and thought I would get a better deal over here on the Go walks. But when I tried them on they were just so uncomfortable. I have a really high instep which makes slide on shoes a bit of a problem.

The other issue now was that I had ended up with dreadful blisters from my crocs thanks to the mad amount of running we had done the previous night going into magic kingdom. The Crocs were comfy but without socks it was agony and I wasn’t about to go down that slippery “socks with crocs” slope! I tried on a few pairs of sketcher trainers and ended up with this pair and oh my they are amazing it was like big fluffy clouds on your feet, I loved them (maybe didn’t look as nice with my outfits but just so comfy!).

The Sketchers outlet were doing a buy one get a second 50% off but I really didn’t need a second pair and Maurice didn’t need any so I just took the one pair which I could use the discount book on so they cost $47 incl tax again I was really happy with that price and they will be perfect for future walking holidays.

We headed back to the apartment with our successful shopping haul for a bit of a freshen up before our dinner at Bahama Breeze tonight.

Continued from above…

Bahama Breeze had been one of those Dibb recommended places I had noted down during all my initial planning. I was so excited to try this place and as luck would have it the restaurant was about a 5 minute drive from our hotel.

We got to the hotel for 7:10pm and was told it would be a 25 minute wait for a seat inside.

We had a look outside but they were setting up a stage for music and Maurice didn’t fancy being to close to loud music. Anyway he went off to the restroom and I grabbed a menu and our pager. Maurice hadn’t even got back from the restroom and our buzzer went off so really no time at all. We got a great seat at the window, I love getting seats when you have a long sofa bit instead of being in the middle of the restaurant.

I had to get a Bahamarita with the little peach schnapps shot on the side, boy are those things strong (I may have had a second!).

Maurice had a club soda (I think that is basically soda water and lime). To eat I went for the Fish Tacos and Maurice had the steak, we aren’t daft there was no appetizers being ordered here! Although I did say a few times to Maurice oh maybe we should just get an appetizer, his sensible head always stop me which by the end of the meal I was very grateful for.

My Fish Tacos were amazing totally out of this world; Maurice had dinner envy (gets him back for those amazing fish spring rolls he had in Paris! ) and spent the rest of the holiday scouring menus for fish tacos haha. He said his steak was nice but not as good as outback, but I think that was just Taco envy speaking as he still cleared his plate.

Somehow we decided we would have room for dessert (why! I was already full up with two slushy cocktails) and went for the richest chocolate cake you have ever eaten. It was a chocolate island and wow it was soooo good but I could hardly move.

The bill came to $72 incl tip (I don’t seem to have these receipts so I can’t give a full breakdown but I did write down the total we paid with tip to give people an idea of what meals cost). It was really worth it although I probably wouldn’t do the chocolate pudding again that was a bit much.

We were back in the apartment in no time and really noticed that the apartment wasn’t cooling down at all. The aircon didn’t seem to turn on even when I would try and alter the temp. We called the front desk and they said they would send someone in 15 minutes but after half an hour no one had arrived and we were both getting very sleepy (my sleepiness may or may not have been connected with the two giant cocktails I had consumed!).

They agreed to come and sort it tomorrow when we were out, luckily the bedroom had a ceiling fan so we just switched that on and it kept us lovely and cool throughout the night and was also not as noisy as aircon machines.

Thank you everyone who has read along we are off to Seaworld tomorrow!

Lovely day with ace pictures. Love the one with Mike!

Would you believe, I got Joe into Bahama Breeze, all excited as I was as I knew it featured so highly on here. He read the menu... and wasn't up for it! Then, to be honest, I read the menu and there was nothing I wanted so badly I'd have lobbied to change his mind so we ended up in Senor Frog! Looks ace though, should have just stayed for cocktails

Those shoes look mega comfy! You seem to have packed so much into your day again, makes for an excellent report! xx

Thats funny you say that as once we got in and started looking at the menu i think we both felt a bit like that. I am a it weird about fish meals and tend to not pick fish but i decided i wanted to just do things differently so took the brave step of ordering the fish tacos i have to say i did not regret that decision one bit.

You will need to make the trip just to get one of those cocktails they were amazing but very strong.

Aww glad you liked it, it seemed shorter writing it than the previous day but i think in Day 1 i properly rambled on about breakfast
