2 weeks of heaven... travel days
It has taken too long to start this trip report, it is my first one, and I had told myself I couldn't do it but now we have booked for this year it is getting me more excited to write about our last holiday. No more holiday blues for us, we are going back this year
Anyway, our plan was to go to Gatwick straight after work on 26th Sept. I finished at 5, got out about quarter past and waited for Lewis to get dropped off by his mum. Then my parents drove us to Gatwick, being the nice people they are We stayed at the Premier Inn North terminal. Here is us ready to go- I cannot believe our excitement at this point. We got there in good time, we went for dinner at the restaurant in the premier inn. We had to wait until 9 for a table as it was so busy (time to watch one last episode of corrie!) and I can see why! It was AMAZING- Lewis still goes on about the camembert (Spelling?!) It came to £23 including tip, we had a sharing platter and a soft drink each. The platter included sweetcorn, lovely doughy breadsticks, camembert, chicken wings, king prawns, and onion rings. We went to sleep at about 10.30 and surprisingly I went straight to sleep, not sure about Lewis. Think the long day at work tired me out. I have no idea of timing the next morning, all I have written in my notes is that we had breakfast at Garfunkels! We were pretty quick getting ready and didn't take long to get to the terminal, being at the Premier Inn was so handy and if we can get a cheap deal again we will definitely be doing it again this year. (I had to wear my mickey leggings and show them off) We headed straight for breakfast at Garfunkels, we chose this as it was the first thing we saw which looked good. I had pancakes and bacon (Let down- bacon was just normal bacon, no crisp to it!) and Lewis had a ham and cheese toastie. We started the holiday as we meant to go on with Lewis having a coke and myself a strawberry lemonade. The flight was on time, as soon as the IFE turned on I was raring to watch frozen, only to find it was only on the inbound flight so I watched The Other Women, Mr poppers penguins and We're the Millers, as well as Modern Family! Lewis watched the secret life of walter mitty which he thought was disappointing, and Captain America which he loved. We had chicken pasta for lunch and I believe egg rolls just before we landed which I got 2 of as Lewis hates egg... get in. I also made use of the music as you can tell... When we landed in Sanford it was raining- typical! We queued at immigration for what seemed like ages, think it was about 45 mins. We got through ok, collected our bags and headed straight for the coach where we waited to leave for another 30 mins. Such a long process to get out the airport. It felt so strange seeing the colour of the sky and the rain yet being boiling hot! Our hotel (Rosen Inn) was one of the first to drop off, we went via the hard rock which was good because we would be staying there the following night, we got to have a sneak peek We grabbed some crisps and fanta from the hotel shop- how amazing is orange fanta is USA compared with UK! so orangey. We spent $12 on a taxi to the north outlets where Lewis went into zombie mode the whole time- I don't blame him it had been a long day. I was in shopping mode! Got a selection of tops, a lovely disney christmas throw which has been sat on the sofa since we got back, and a birthday present for my sister. We got a taxi back and went straight to mcdonalds which was next to the hotel. We got a medium pizza to share and strawberry fanta (even more amazing!) we were in awe that we could order a pizza in mcdonalds lol! It was lovely and greasy, we ate most of it and took the rest for breakfast the next day. We went to sleep at about 11, now I think about it we did well to stay up that late. Chatted about what was to come, especially tomorrow at US! |
