2 weeks of heaven... 8: Ripley's & HHN

The plan for today was the morning at Wet n Wild. We woke at about 9 I think and it was very clear this wouldn't be happening. It was a sunday and we both wanted to stay in bed until we felt like getting up. We eventually left the hotel room at 11.45! We both decided we would just save Wet n Wild for next time we came, or so we thought!

We walked straight across the road to ihop where we were greeted with a long wait, it was late after all. Once seated I already knew what I wanted, Lewis pondered the menu and chose philly cheese steak melt and I had pancakes with bacon yum. The food here was good and cheap, but when it came to pay it was impossible to get anyones attention.

We got a free gift in the shop opposite with our receipt which was a keyring! Hey, it was free after all...

As we were already out we decided to walk a bit further down and go to Ripley's. We had planned on doing this in an evening but had nothing else planned for today so went for it.

It is an interesting and fun place but wouldn't want to do it more than once.

Me with my hero... made entirely of sweets!

me casually on a giant chair...

Lewis and a giant man

and in a giant tire!

and part of the berlin wall?!
This place was filled with all sorts of randomness and filled up part of the day which is what we needed.

We wandered back to the hotel after we had finished and stopped in a few shops on the way, we also had more coupons for freebies in a gift shop and got a pen and another keyring. Yay!
We stopped at a gas station near the hotel and got some drinks. Lewis got an energy drink and headed straight to the gym while I lounged in bed for even longer!

Once he returned we both got showered and dressed for HHN again! We had planned on doing 4 nights while we were there but we only made 2. We were just too tired and didn't feel that disappointed at the thought of missing it. We walked a bit further up I drive and got an I trolley which was a bit lazy. We then walked the rest of the way to Universal.

This time, we spent more time in the purge area which was sooooo scary! The noise of chainsaws was freaking me out.

We managed to do more houses this time as we got the long wait at Halloween done on the first night. We did Alien v Predator, Dracula, Dollhouse of the damned and Dusk til Dawn. This is all the notes I've got so I can't really go into much detail here. All I know is that nothing scared me as much as Halloween!

After the houses we both agreed we were getting worn out but we both wanted to do a few more rides as this would be our last visit to Universal. We got on the simpsons and minion mayhem with no queue.

On the way out we noticed The Walking Dead house was 90 mins and Halloween was 105 I am glad we are not walking dead fans as this is far too long to wait for anything!

We headed off at about 10pm and walked back to I Drive to find somewhere to eat. We came across Chillis first so chose here, we loved it sooo much!
We started with a sharer of spinach and artichoke dip, egg rolls and honey chipotle wings. We both had combos as entrees which consisted of a mix of enchiladas, tostadas and tacos. We took one of my dishes home and put it in the fridge which never got eaten. It was a huge volume of food.

I've once again lost these photos, I know the food was good though! Once we were done we walked back to the hotel and ended up in bed at midnight. This was such a relaxed day but it was so much fun to do whatever we wanted on such a busy holiday.

Thanks for reading, tomorrow will be Hollywood Studios!

That's very cool that Ripley's has part of the Berlin Wall; I always presumed they just had a load of tat in there!

You're squeezing lots into your day, I wish we had your stamina.

Hi Gemma!

Firstly I must say what a great report! I have really enjoyed reading every bit and look forward to any more you do!

If you don't mind I have a couple of questions as I am going this year nearly exactly to the day you went and the exact same package as you guys!

How and when did you receive all your tickets from thomson? I'm assuming that you did the all in one package? If you did was it the ultimate 14 day tickets with both disney and universal?

How was the Rosen inn?

We are also looking at doing 1 night at hard rock, we're the parks busy enough to make the most of the skip the q passes in universal?

Also I see you did the HHN, did you buy extra tickets for this?

Thanks

Hi B, thanks for replying and reading

We bought our tickets through thomson however we didn't go for the all in one package. We received them a few weeks before we went via email and I printed the confirmation then we just had to change them for the real tickets at the gates. We got our disney reference number from them in time to book our fastpasses at 30 day mark, although it did take a lot of calls to them to get them to find it out.

The Rosen Inn was good, we didn't want anything too fancy and think that this hotel was pretty standard, there was nothing wrong with it. We didn't spend much time there, didn't use the restaurant or the pool because not enough time! We did use the disney shuttles which I think were 17 dollars return per day, this was quite a good service you just need to book the night before.

The Universal parks were relatively quiet so we could have done without the passes but it meant we could go back to the hotel and go back for HHN without much hassle. We got HHN tickets separately before we went, not sure how much they cost sorry it was too long ago! We really loved it, want to go back for HHN this year but we fly out on 30th oct so not enough time to do this and MNSSHP!

Hope I've been helpful, sorry it took a while to reply I didn't see the comment!

Hi Gemma,

Thanks for your reply it's been very helpful. We have recently been looking at the car hire situation, I have driven in vegas before so I said I would drive in Florida as OH isn't a very confident driver but just looking into it they charge 25.99 a day for under 25's! Which would total to over $300! So we are now looking at not having a car during our stay. I notice you didn't have a car, how did you find getting around? Also how did you get from airport to hotel?

Thanks again for your help
