I think there must be a new Dibb rule for booking BOG on your first day! it does seem the perfect way to start of your holibobs!

The tablecloths must be made of pure silk, spun by angels at that price

I promise I'll add spreadsheets to my next update

Glad to see you have your transport sorted, I think a taxi home when you land is a good idea and will really appreciate it when you get off that long night flight.

I can't believe the increase in price for the dessert part, crazy! I think it may put a lot of people off now.

Anyway looking forward to reading your daily plans x
Thanks Sarah, I can't seem to stop buying Disney themed bits at the moment!

The taxi does seem the best way to go, not sure how awake we'd be after such a long flight.

I've read about a lot of Dibbers not booking TTDP now, Disney must know what they're doing though.

Hoping to update on Friday,

Laura Xx

Disney Plans Part 1

Disney Plans Part 1

I’m going to put our day-to-day plans for Disney up in a few parts, as including travel days this is the first 21 days of our holibobs and I didn’t think that any of you would be able to cope with that much of my waffle in one hit!

I have tried not to be too ‘boot camp’ when organising what we will be doing each day (I know, nobody believes me, not even Nathan ) and have allowed for some rest days where we can decide what we fancy doing that morning. Water parks also count as rest days (right?), so I think I have been very generous with them! I doubt that we will stick to the plan rigidly when we are there and I am open to some (teeny tiny amount) of flexibility .

A sneak glimpse of a page of my spreadsheet… lucky you! I know many of you have been eagerly awaiting a glimpse. It now has 14 separate tabs, ranging from daily plans, to ADRs, FP+ and spending analysis! I LOVE IT!

Wednesday 29th July: The first day of our Disney adventure and I am pretty sure that I will be in a state of complete and utter panic . We will spend the morning packing and triple checking the lists and that we still have our passports and tickets, before hopefully getting a lift from my mum to the train station – I still need to ask her if she will. I am hoping that we will be able to drop Franklin off the night before for his holiday with Nathan’s parents, but if not we will also have to squeeze this into the morning chaos.

This is my new pretty suitcase that I brought from Debenhams in the sale, after reading a Dibbers tip.

We will probably get a M & S picnic for the train, as I am hoping to book a journey around lunch time and I will be able to sit and annoy Nathan by going through the plans with him! Nathan will probably want to sit and listen to some music or read a book, so we might have to compromise a bit.

We will do twilight check-in before mooching around the airport and eventually checking in to the Premier Inn Gatwick North. We have the meal deal included in our stay, so we will try and book an early reservation so we can try to get an early night in the hope of some sleep – although this is doubtful as I will be too excited!

We will relax in the room for most of the evening, watching TV and reading and getting super excited about the next 27 days!

Thursday 30th July: We fly to Disney today! Our flight is at 11:15am, which means that we will have plenty of time to enjoy a big breakfast at the Premier Inn (also included in the meal deal) before walking on over to the airport.

I won’t want to leave too late, as I like to be punctual! But also because I want to have enough time to have a look around duty free and choose my holiday perfume. I like to choose something that I don’t normally have, so every time I smell it after the holiday I will be transported back to Florida. If funds allow, I might also pick up some of my favourite make-up bits, as it normally works out a little cheaper.

I’m hoping the flight will be uneventful and be mostly taken up by reading, watching films and the staring at the sky map. We are due to land at 3:35pm and I would like to be able to whizz through immigration and not get a scary officer, so we can hop straight on to the Magical Express.

Our first hotel is SSR and I am planning on requesting a room fairly close to the main areas and DTD if this is possible? (I still need to research this, so if anyone knows any good areas I would appreciate the help). I am hoping to nip over to DTD to spend our first CS credit at either EOS or Wolfgang’s before heading back to the room and unpacking in the hope that if we stay up as long as possible, than we won’t wake up at a ridiculous hour tomorrow.

Friday 31st July: Our first day at WDW has to mean a trip over to MK?! We will aim to get there for rope drop, so that we can see the opening ceremony as this is how we started off our Disneymoon and is one of my favourite memories. No breakfast reservations, as we will want to walk around and take in the atmosphere and the happy feeling that you get in your tummy now that you are standing on Main St. in front of the Castle!

I'm in the picture - honest!

We have managed to get a lunch ADR for BOG – super excited! I really want to explore the area, as the New Fantasyland was not even built back in 2012. We will try and stay for as long as possible, but not push ourselves, so we will probably only spend until after lunch here. We will probably nip back to the hotel, so we can have a dip in the pool and cool off from the wonderful August weather (fingers crossed) and perhaps finish the unpacking if we didn’t manage to get it all done the night before.

I’m hoping to get an early reservation at House of Blues tonight (they have changed their booking system, so that you can’t book until 2 weeks out now), as I’m not sure that we will be ready for ‘normal’ dinner time reservations yet. I would like to be able to stroll over to DTD from SSR for dinner and some shopping if we are not completely exhausted.

Saturday 1st August: Today has EPCOT down on the plans, as this is my second favourite park and it is also down as the most recommended park on the Dibb busy day guide – bonus! We have an early reservation with the princesses at Akershus in the Norway pavilion. Nathan will no doubt be nervous, as he doesn’t like face characters, especially princesses after Aerial at Cinderella’s really freaked him out. She kept on randomly shouting ‘bubbles’, so I am throwing him in at the deep end with our first character dining experience!

It would be brilliant to get a FP+ for Test Track as this was closed for refurbishment during our last visit, so Nathan has still not managed to ride it! We will probably spend most of our time in Future World and save World Showcase for our next visit. We will be making a small trek over there for lunch though, as we have a reservation for Teppen Edo.

The evening will be spent either resting, as we will have had two pretty busy days or back over at DTD, maybe DisneyQuest or bowling? See there is some flexibility in the plans!

Sunday 2nd August: This will be our 3rd Wedding anniversary, so I have planned in some of Nathan’s favourite Disney things!

This morning will be a visit to Nathan’s preferred water park – Blizzard Beach. One of his favourite memories from our honeymoon is drifting around the lazy river together in one of the rubber rings. I’m sure that we will take another trip or two around the lazy river, as well as going on lots of the slides, including my favourite of Team Boat Springs.

Next, I will be defeating Nathan at a round of mini golf at Summer Winterland! I can’t remember what course we went on last time, so I will have to have a look back through our pictures so that we can try the other course – I think that it was the summer side though.

Back to SSR to freshen up and make ourselves look fancy, as we have booked a signature meal in for this evening at California Grill to celebrate. I am really looking forward to the tasty looking desserts and viewing Wishes from the balcony!

Monday 3rd August: AK is our choice of park today, with an early reservation booked to meet Donald and friends for breakfast at Tusker House – ummm, Tater Tots! After stuffing ourselves silly we will probably try and do the safari whilst the animals are still awake and after our breakfast has gone down we will be able to ride Expedition Everest. I really want to see the yeti this time, Nathan still cannot work out how I missed it!

Another ADR booked for lunch, this time at the Yak & Yeti. I have tried to book mostly lunch and breakfast TS in for the first week, so that we can spend the evening resting and catching-up with any jet lag.

The evening will again be spent at DTD, if we are not too tired, as I love the night time atmosphere that they have here. We will try to nip into DisneyQuest or bowling, whichever we didn’t manage to do earlier in the week. If we have any room left in our bellies then we will try out Cooke’s of Dublin for some battered sausages and chocolate bars?!... Still not sure about the Doh bars.

Tuesday 4th August:
We will finally make it to MGM today (I can’t bring myself to call it Hollywood Studios, it just doesn’t feel right!). We will no longer have to make the run over to TSM, as we will hopefully have a FP+ already booked.

The plan is to take it a little bit easier today and watch lots of the shows, before trying one of the tasty looking mac’n’cheese bacon truffle hotdogs at Fairfax Fare! I have been dreaming about eating one of these since I first set my eyes on them last year, it combines so many yummy things – pasta… yum, bacon… yum, cheese…yum – I won’t go on, but you can probably guess that I am looking forward to this?! Again we only have until after lunch scheduled at MGM, as in the first week until I have adjusted, the heat and humidity can get a little too much and I am craving aircon!

We might spend the afternoon in one of the hotel swimming pools to cool off, as we never managed to make it to one of our resorts pools last time and I would like to rectify that on this trip. If we are fully in the WDW spirit, we might even park hop and take a boat back over to EPCOT.

Tonight we actually have an evening ADR for Raglan Road. It would be lovely if some of the entertainment is on and we can spend some time listening to the bands and watching the Irish dancers before crashing into bed exhausted from our first week of holiday adventures.

As we will be so thrilled to be back, I have tried to make the whole of the first week about being in the Disney bubble, so we are not venturing to any other parks or shops. It will be nice to cocoon ourselves in the happy first week feeling, knowing that we still have so much of the holiday still ahead of us. I have also tried to book most of our breakfast ADRs into this week, so the ridiculously early mornings work in our favour.

How does the first week sound to everyone? I have tried to plan in lots of part days and also a sort of rest day at a waterpark, but do you think that I should plan in a ‘proper’ rest day? Any opinions or advice would be great.

Sounds like a brilliant week is planned. We have a similar plan for our first week which is the week after. Only differnece mainly being california grill is booked for the Friday evening as it's our last evening with friends before they return home from their 3weeks. (Only have 1 week overlapping 😥 this time)

So many similarities, we could have been planning together! We also got our cabin cases from debs too lol.

Looking forward to reading lots more...I think I worked out only 13/14weeks left at school lol 😁😜

Aww, thanks Julia.

It feels like it's slowly coming together now, there always seems to be something else to research or book though - not that I mind, I love planning almost as much as going to WDW

To plan a WDW, NY holiday, plus a wedding you must be super organised!

Primark Haul & Easter Holidays

Primark Haul & Easter Holidays

I’ve had a very busy Easter holidays so far, but very enjoyable… you might want to skip a little further down if you’d prefer to skip to the Disney purchases!

To kick the holiday off last weekend Nathan took me to West Midlands Safari Park. It’s been a pretty hectic time at work and Nathan wanted to make sure that I actually took a little bit of time during the holidays to relax. As I’m sure many Dibb teachers out there will know, it is pretty easy to spend most of the breaks catching up on marking, planning and other admin bits and not taking any time out to actually have a break! We had a fabulous day – I got to stroke a Zebra and feed a hippo! It did rain a little bit, but that was mostly when we were driving around the savannah, so we didn’t get too wet. One of the main reasons for the visit was to see the new Dinosaur area that has just opened up. I am a massive lover of dinosaurs, so was super excited and it didn’t disappoint. The animatronics and theming were brilliant.

You’ll probably see my dinosaur impression a couple of times in my actual trippie as well, at DinoLand and Jurassic Park, it’s a favourite pose of mine!

I was also treated to a night at the theatre in Birmingham to see Shrek the musical. It was very funny, especially Lord Farquaad, who was full of innuendos! There was a hysterical woman in the audience who thought he was hilarious, so would carry on laughing long after everyone else had stopped, which then set the rest of the audience off again! I would definitely recommend the production if you get a chance to see it and it made me even more excited about our trip to Universal. I often forget how funny the Universal films are, as I love Disney so much!

The Hippodrome theatre in Birmingham.

Nathan had to go up to Aberdeen and Edinburgh for work, so I snuck along to keep him company for the eight hour car journey. It was actually snowing when we were in Aberdeen?! We stayed at a lovely hotel in Edinburgh (The Village) and I managed to do lots of shopping when Nathan was busy at work, which is where most of my purchases are from.

It was a very funky hotel, with a huge shower. I don’t know why we ended up with two double beds though?!

Let’s get back to actual Disney info! So, when Nathan was busy working I filled my time up with shopping! Edinburgh is a very picturesque city centre, but it also has an absolutely huge Primark and I spent a small fortune on holiday bits!... I did buy some stuff for Nathan as well in my defence! I love reading everyone else’s purchases, so I hope you enjoy perusing these.

I find t-shirts can be very stifling in the Florida summer humidity, so prefer more floaty vest tops and Primark has got quite a few new Disney ones in ready for everyone’s holidays. I think they were all £5-6 each.

I love this Flounder one, I’ll probably where it to MK ready for the new Little Mermaid ride or maybe at MGM for the show? Umm, decisions, decisions…

This Minion top will be for our HRH stay and day at Universal Studios, hopefully I will be able to get a picture boogying with one of the Minions whilst wearing it.

This is perfect for when we do the 5k around Castaway Cay, as I imagine that I will get very ‘sparkly’ running around a Bahamian island!

I also got this fabulous Mickey rain mac for £10, which is going to be brilliant for the afternoon showers. I was gutted last year when I missed out on the Minnie ponchos with ears that Primark had in, so I am glad that I have finally managed to find a Disney themed piece of rain gear.

The bikinis were really cheap, the green set was only £6 and then I picked up the cute pineapple bottoms for £3 so that I can mix and match with them. I like the twist detail on the top and it has multi-way straps to help prevent those pesky tan lines!

I got a bit carried away with the accessories, especially the sunglasses. They were £1 a pair and the amazing fold-up ones were £1.50 a pair. A navy blue pair of the fold-up sunglasses might have also slipped into my basket and might already be being used! I thought the little nude bag for £3 will be handy as a park bag, as with Magicbands I won’t need to carry much around (plus Nathan will have a rucksack for the bigger bits!). I couldn’t resist the bikini bags, especially the ice-cream set for £3. On the days we go to the waterparks or beach, it will be handy to have somewhere to store our wet cossies and the ice cream purse will be ideal for the day at Castaway Cay to put our room keys in. The little Minnie & Mickey purse is actually a manicure set and was in the sale for a bargainous £1!

For the days when I need to carry more around, like travel days, I also ‘bagged’ this cute rucksack for £10. I’m quite tempted to start using it already, so I am going to have to hide it from myself.

You cannot make a Florida trip without themed pants! I got a pair of Potter and Minion ones for HRH at £2 a pair. Nathan’s were on sale so only cost £3 for both of the Transformer ones. The Monsters Inc. socks are for me for the plane, as I find that my tootsies get a little bit cold from the aircon, these were £2.50 for the set.

Wow, that is a lot when you write it all out! I might not have brought Nathan as much as I brought myself – he only has pants on the list so far.

I did pick up this Hogwarts tee for him, again for our stay at HRH, I’m not sure if he will want to wear this for our Hogsmeade or Diagon Alley visit. This was £8 I think?

These swimming trunks are amazing! They were £10, which was a bit more than most of the men’s swimwear, but if you look closely they have lots of Hawaiian floral print Mickey heads and full Mickey silhouettes hidden on them.

Last things are for me again! This time from Hollister, as they had a sale on when I nipped in. The cami was £12 and has fancy criss-cross straps that I can’t seem to position in a way to get a decent photo and the giraffe tee was £14. This is going to be part of one of my AK outfits, I love how it is sticking its head out of the pocket!

I will have to start planning what I will be wearing, as I have a feeling that I could over-pack if I keep on buying more clothes. I hope everyone is having a fantastic Easter and that you are all indulging on lots of chocolate eggs! I’ll be back soon to update with week 2 of our Disney adventure plans.

Thanks for reading,

Laura Xx
