Cosmic Rays Starlight Cafe

Quite a late lunch here. We'd eaten here before and to be honest I'd have preferred to have eaten elsewhere but others were hot and hungry so here it was.

This place is a bit strange, it's divided into 3 different counters, 1 does burgers and such, another sandwiches and the other things like roast chicken and mash. This could be a real pain if your party all want different things.

Luckily for us, we all wanted the same thing! (I actually think, the in laws were too scared to order anything they actually wanted, a recurring theme throughout. The ddp was more confusing to them than rocket science, it kind of wound me up!) we all chose the 1/3 lb Angus bacon cheeseburger and fries. It was actually pretty good. What we also did, as Evie didn't like anything from the kids menu was order her a burger from the adults. On the dining plan it doesn't differentiate between kids and adults for counter service meals. A good tip as sometimes the kids options are poor. This only works for c/s not t/s credits though. Lily wasn't hungry.

For desert we got the standard carrot cakes and chocolate cakes. They still may actually be in the fridge in the hotel even though we arrived home this morning.

Overall this was an ok use of a c/s credit for which we used 5.

House of Blues at Downtown Disney

This was a great meal.

I booked this last minute as we had a free evening and we hadn't done anything the night before on our first full day in the parks so I was hoping everyone would be up for going here. At first they weren't as they were a bit tired.

We got the boat from Saratoga Springs to the West Side boat dock which stops right outside the House Of Blues.

We had a small 5 minute wait for our table. It was a nice atmosphere inside. Our server was a bit slow at first and had real trouble with scanning my magic band at the start of the meal. Everyone was a bit subdued at the table at first but soon picked up once ordered(me having to explain again how it worked).

Evie had the kids cheeseburgers and fries, yes that's plural. She enjoyed these.

Lily had a hot dog, sorry missed the photo

Marian, Den and Kelly all had fish of the day which was salmon. They both chose to have it grilled. It came with veg and garlic mash potato. They all loved this.

I had the buttermilk fried chicken with garlic mash. This was great but WAY too much. I don't think the picture does the size of the chicken pieces justice. 4 huge pieces. The server said most don't make the 4th. I didn't .

One thing we all agreed on as well was how nice the garlic mash potato was. On our last trip it seemed to be that nasty red piper mash everywhere but this was lovely.

For desert, me, Kelly and Marian had the Key Lime Pie which was lovely.

Den had the chocolate cheesecake which he said was nice.

Lily Belle had cookies.

Evie Mae had the World Famous Kids Sundae.

We used 6 t/s credits. This was a lovely meal which we all really enjoyed. Recommended.

Love your food trippie. Had to laugh at the 'nasty red piper mash' when I can't be bothered in the kitchen I tell the family we are having 'Florida mash' cos I don't have to peel the potatoes!

Just caught up, really enjoying reading so far . . , we ate at a few of the same places when we were there. A lot of people panned hollywood and vine buffet but we really enjoyed it as much as our youngest daughter who is a Disney junior fan. . . We also thought it was by far the best place for character interaction. . . , and the teeny tiny deserts were lovely

Oooh HOB's buttermilk chicken and the key lime pie is my favourite combination!

The chicken is huge isn't it! A whole breast, thigh, drumstick & wing on one plate
