Day 9 – Chef de France/MNSSHP at MK/Cosmic Rays

Becoming boring but breakfast was cereal again before heading to Epcot this morning which was busy….

We had an lunchtime ADR at Chef de France at 1200 and we arrived bang on time and had a lovely table overlooking France which was now heaving!

We were served by the no1 server of the holiday Xavier from Paris who was a perfect gentleman throughout, very personable and chatted about the rugby and his time at Disney and his time working in Aviemore in Scotland. He also ensured the service was good throughout, bringing out some fresh bread which was lovely.

We decided to take advantage of the pre fixe menu which allowed 3 courses. DS decided he didn’t want soup however we ordered French Onion for him anyway (for me to try!) and I went for the lobster bisque and DW had the French onion soup.

The French Onion soup was lovely but very filling and practically a meal itself. The lobster bisque was not really to my taste but worth a try! DS scoffed most of the lovely bread instead….

For mains I had the Macaroni (a bit bland really, and not as good as my Mums!), DW and DS the croque monsier which they said was nice although not mind blowing.

For desserts we had the profiteroles (me) which were lovely with great chocolate sauce and came accompanied with birthday message, and then happy birthday sung in French by the group of waiters! DW had the strawberry shortcake and DS the chocolate mousse to keep up his 5 a day.

Fit to burst, we paid using 3 TS credits and paid 20% tip given the service was so good ($17.44).

Tonight was MNSSHP, so a counter service was the best option at MK and we opted for Cosmic Rays.

I was a bit underwhelmed by the food. DW and I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich and fries and a BBQ pork sandwich with fries to share and DS has the hot dog.

We had the famous carrot cake/chocolate cakes combo for desserts which actually weren’t too bad!

The food was ok at best and I think because it took time to find a table/condiments etc the food was a bit cold by time of eating which didn’t help. We used 3 CS credits.

Our bellies full again we enjoyed the evening gathering a small (!) bag of candy...

and had some snacks later in the evening, a chocolate brownie from Starbucks for DS

and two ice cream sundaes from Storybook Treats for us which were pretty average.

Good day all round though. I'm sure Disney Mousekeeping would have enjoyed it seeing we left them at least half of the candy we collected. We will be left eating the rest for the next few months...

Day 10 – HS/Backlot Express/Writers Stop/Sanaa

After breakfast again in room (becoming a common theme here!) we headed off to Hollywood Studios.

Lunch today was at The Backlot Express and was pretty good.

Spicy Buffalo breast nuggets (really good)

and normal chicken nuggets to share with fries

and we substituted one dessert for a further drink and we shared a delicious famous carrot cake we had bought earlier from The Writers Stop. Lovely!

Inside view in case you are interested...

Softer than I imagined and stickier too…Lives up to the hype though...

DS plumped from the dessert from Backlot Express the chocolate mousse thingy...

He said it was pretty good so it must have been chocolately enough...

2 CS credits used and a snack credit for carrot cake.

We returned to our resort late afternoon to get ready for tonights ADR at Sanaa at AKL.

After a small drama trying to find it we checked in and were seated in a window seat overlooking the Savannah which was nice and could see a number of animals.

We decided to go the whole hog and ordered the full bread service with all of the dips.

The breads were delicious and we all tucked in trying all the various dips which varied in heat and flavour.

DS was allowed to pick the lunchtime tandoori chicken which came with further naan bread which was lovely

and I had the evening tandoori chicken (also very good)

and DW had the sampler of Butter chicken and lamb

which we shared. This was also really tasty and nicely cooked, particularly the lamb.

We somehow managed desserts and both had the dessert trio, the kulfi sundae, chai cream and chocolate mousse. The standout was definitely the kulfi, the others a little bland.

DS had the ice cream which he struggled with!

A really nice meal in lovely surroundings. We paid using 3 TS credits and tip was $32.68 which included the bread service and dips.
