Day 12 – Earl of Sandwich/Ghirardellis/MK/Pinochio’s Village Haus

Yep, you guessed it, cereal in room for breakfast although we then went to the Roaring Fork for the nutricious options of a cookie bar and a brownie to share with some coffee which we ate in the magnificent lobby at WL.

We spent the morning with some retail therapy at Premium Outlets before arriving at DTD (sorry Disney Springs) for lunch at an old favourite Earl of Sandwich.

No reading of menu required here as DW and I both ordered the Original which was still amazing.

DS had the pizza sandwich which we paid for OOP

We substituted one of our desserts for a side of potato salad and DS had the other dessert which was wait for it, a brownie...

We used 2 CS credits to pay.

We then treated ourselves to another of our favourites at Ghirardellis

We ordered the Espresso Escape to share which was and always will be incredible….

This was paid OOP.

We were off to MK for the rest of the evening and tonights tea was Pinochio’s village Haus which is a cavernous place and was absolutely hoaching (busy) tonight.

We ordered 2 portions of chicken nuggets

a Pepperoni flatbread

a salad which which we had substituted a dessert for (we were feeling health conscious….)

and a chocolate cake for the boy.

This restaurant was manic and by the time we found the table and condiments etc the food was a bit on the cold side and to be honest not very good. It filled a hole however and cost us 3 CS credits. To DW’s disgust there was also no mayonnaise! On the plus side the table we, had overlooked 'A small world……..'

Day 13 – Epcot/Boulangerie Les Halles/Epcot Food & Wine

Ok, getting boring now, cereal in room for brekkie and then onto Epcot and after busy morning, by 11ish our bellies were rumbling and we headed to Boulangerie Les Halles for lunch in the World Showcase.

This is always a decent lunch and we all ordered the cheese and ham baguette (DW and I’s warmed)

and then some cakes, napoleon for me (glorious)

chocolate éclair for DS

and a chocolate tart for DW
.

All very tasty and very filling. Washed down with drinks ( I had my daily latte) we paid using 3 CS credits.

We left afterwards to return to the resort for some rest and a wee bit of packing and to get ready for our Epcot Food and Wine evening.

We got the monorail back to Epcot via the TTC and had a few beers and ciders to get us in the mood.

Beer no1 a Labatts from Canada

DS fancied a fish supper from Yorkshire Fish and Chip Shop which we used a CS credit for substituting the dessert for a drink.

After deciding DW and I would share each snack as we tackled the food & wine stalls, we then cracked on with the food and wine huts starting in Canada….

We had the famous Filet Mignon and mushrooms which was lovely along with the chicken sausage and cheddar cheese soup which we bought exchanging a CS credit for 3 snacks. All very, very good…

Hawaii next for the pork slider. Two mouthfuls and it was gone but good all the same.

Next stop Scotland for the haggis, neeps and tatties. I was instantly recognised as a Scot by the cast member on the food hut who was concerned if I would like it. As a lover of haggis, I wasn’t convinced it would be the real deal but I have to say it was pretty good, the mash was also good if a bit salty although the neeps (turnip to everyone else from outwith) were a bit bland.

Farm Fresh next where we wanted to try the mac n cheese. This was very good and a decent sized portion to boot…

Dessert time and DW had decided she wanted to try the Chocolate bomb from the Chew Lab.

Again not a large meal but pretty tasty….

Further beers were consumed and feeling pretty mellow we ventured onto France where DS had a chocolate ice cream from L’Artisan des Glaces.

Ice cream here is always really good!

All of the above were 1 snack credit each.

We then strolled onto Morocco by which time the World Showcase was absolutely heaving and we shared a kefta pocket and baklava.

Both were really good, the baklava in particular very sticky, chewy and very tasty….

We carried on, grabbing a spot for Illuminations whilst taking in Eat to the Beat whose act tonight was Fuel, an American band in the American soft/metal genre whose repertoire seemed to consist of 1 song which they played 3 times, including the encore. Suffice to say it was pretty loud with little melody (god, I sound old!) and well basically crap.

I then wandered off and got us a further snack from China, the Beijing roasted duck in steamed bun with hoisin sauce and during a bit of an eyes bigger than belly moment also bought a school bread and chocolate pretzel from Kringla Bakery in Norway for us all to share using 3 snack credits.

All three were fairly average however, particulary the renowned school bread I’m afraid to say.

Now fairly stuffed, after Illuminations we were pretty tired and headed out for home. We really enjoyed the evening and the Food & Wine was something we would definitely do again. We were surprised at the quality and variety of the food on offer and it being on the DDP, it was a great way of using the numerous snack credits we still had.

Day 14 – Roaring Fork/MK/Yachtsman Steakhouse

This morning shock horror, no cereal and we headed for the Roaring Fork where we swapped a CS credit for a banana nut muffin (me), cinnamon walnut pastry (DW) and chocolate muffin (DS) which we ate on arriving at the welcome show at MK.

These were superb, the banana muffin in particular was as good as I’ve ever tasted.

Through the day we had popcorn (DS)

a dole whip (DW)

which she had been keen to try and DS and I later shared a mint choc ice cream cookie sandwich from the Plaza which was fantastic.

A snack credit was used for each.

We also used a CS credit which we exchanged for 3 snacks in Starbucks in Main Street for 2 large lattes and a salted caramel square.

The poor girl in Starbucks however made a mess of the transaction and rang it through as a CS credit which required her boss to amend this. She then became incredibly apologetic, despite me saying there was no problem (this had taken at the most half a minute to sort out) and then said “I’m so sorry, there is no charge” passing me a blank receipt. I of course insisted that this was all wrong and demanded she take the CS credit along with a tip (NOT!). This however is pretty typical American customer service and was gratefully received. I'm sure would get the same level of service here... mmmmm...

Tonight’s meal was one we had been looking forward to, our one signature restaurant of the trip at the Yachtsman Steakhouse at the Yacht club.

After washing and brushing up and putting on our best threads we arrived at the Yachtsman in plenty of time where we were shown the butcher at work cutting those fabulous slabs of meat before being seated.

Our server Suzan (yes, that was the spelling...), was a lovely down to earth lady who explained the menu and put DS at ease, who is a bit of a fuss pot.

She explained that we could basically choose any main we wanted and swap the sides/sauces to suit which ever we wanted and DS could choose anything he liked including the kids menu and they would make it into an adults portion if he so wished!

We were first of all served the drinks and the marvellous bread, the onion bread with garlic and butter which was amazing and warm bread rolls – which DS devoured despite us telling him to leave space for the rest of the meal.

More bread then arrived which we of course left….em sort of before the mains arrived.

I chose the 10 oz black Angus filet mignon (medium) with mash and cabernet sauce

DW the 12 oz NY strip (medium) with brandy peppercorn sauce which she asked to have with salt and vinegar fries

DS had the kids chicken breast which was made into an adult portion (given we were on the DP – like he needed it!) which he had with normal fries and veg.

DW’s steak was still a bit too red for her and she asked for it to be cooked a bit longer which was no problem and was perfect on arrival.

My steak was absolutely fantastic and every mouthful was a pleasure! DS declared his the best chicken he had ever eaten and DW was delighted with hers. 3 happy campers….

For dessert we tried the apple tart (DW)

the lemon blueberry which was across between a cheesecake and a crumble and very good

and DS had the white chocolate mickey puzzle (with painting set!) which Suzan brought with ice cream.

Totally stuffed we paid the bill using 6 TS credits and the tip $33.43 (20%). This was a fantastic meal at an unrushed pace with great service. Although signature dining I felt that it was relatively informal and relaxed with great food we could almost customise. I would highly recommend it.

Day 15 – Roaring Fork/Wolfgang Puck’s Express/Columbia Harbour House

Today was EMH at Hollywood Studios so we exchanged a CS credit for 3 snacks at ‘The Fork for our favourite banana nut muffins (me and DW) and a chocolate muffin for DS which we ate walking up Hollywood Boulevard in the rammy trying to get to TSM.

We had planned on leaving the park mid to late morning to get to Disney Springs and we made good time to get to Wolfgang Pucks for lunch. It was busy but we ordered and found a table and our food wasn’t too long in arriving.

I had the signature dish the Meat loaf

DW had the meatloaf sandwich

and DS the pepperoni pizza.

Desserts were crème brulee for me

cheesecake for DW

and shock horror, a brownie for DS (no photo).

Drinks were re-filled a couple of times by servers and we used 3 CS credits which is a great value QS lunch on the DDP. Food was plentiful and very tasty.

Completely stuffed (a common theme on this holiday….) we walked off lunch with some shopping at DTD including a visit to the Ghirardelli’s shop where we bought 5 bars of their chocolate which were on a deal 5 for price of 4 and we used 4 snack credits thanks to a tip from the DIBB which used up some of our snack credits.

We then spent the afternoon back at the resort, had a boat trip before getting ready for the late afternoon/evening at MK.
We had decided on Columbia Harbour House for tea and we ordered the chicken/fish combo with fries

and Anchors away Tuna sandwich (with chips) for DW and I to share

and chicken/fish for the laddie. These came with a portion of coleslaw too which was pleasant enough.

We also had 2 fruit cobblers for the grown ups and a standard generic Disney chocolate cake for the sprog.

3 CS credits used.

The service was much better controlled here and the food better too than the other QS places in MK and with a nice table overlooking Liberty Sq/Frontierland this was somewhere we would return to.

Our view

On leaving we had a wander along through Frontierland and for some reason decided to have a walk through all those shops everyone ignores on the same side as Country Bear Jamboree on the charge towards BTM and SM where we saw this on sale disguised as peanut butter...

I thought you cleaned out toilets with this...

Day 16 – Roaring Fork breakfast and lunch/Sunshine Seasons/Sci Fi Diner

Our last full day at Disney was started with breakfast cereal before our day visiting all 4 parks. A first for us!

After a lightning morning at MK we quickly returned to the WL for lunch at ‘The Fork where we shared a grilled Northwest chicken sandwich and fries

and a pepperoni flatbread

and another magic cookie bar and a brownie (can't find a photo)

After a quick visit to AK it was on to Epcot where we made a deviation to Sunshine Seasons.

We had afternoon snacks using a converted CS credit for 3 snacks, a strawberry shortcake for me

a key lime pie for DW

and another brownie for the boy.

The 4th park today was Hollywood Studios where we had booked our last ADR at The Sci Fi Diner.

DS was really looking forward to this and as we were seated in a car he was even more chuffed and was quickly engrossed in the movie.

Service here was pretty good and we had drinks to start where I tried the Oreo cookie milkshake which was awesome!

Mains came pretty quickly, a build your own burger for me with bacon/cheddar and onion rings

a Reuben for DW which she said was excellent

and a plain burger for DS.

The chips here were really good although like most were a bit too salty.

We weren’t sure about desserts here and DW and I both opted for the Turtle cheesecake. DW said straight away she didn't like it. Too sickly! I couldn't make up mind and kept going to check! We did leave a fair whack of it which will be added to the Disney food mountain.

For a change the boy had a brownie with ice cream….

I was literally stuffed after this meal and practically needed a hoist to lift me from my car seat… Cost was 3 TS credits and the tip $14.87. Definitely a restaurant we would do again. Good service and food and the theming was really good and fun.

Day 17 – BOG breakfast/Roaring Fork/Outback

Last day here (boo hoo!) and was started with a delivery of cases and bags to store at valet before a last morning at MK where we had booked the Be Our Guest breakfast.

The restaurant was really crammed and we eventually got a table in the Gallery where we had juice and coffee.

We then waited on our food, and continued to wait on our food and 20 mins later were still waiting on our food….hmph… This prompted a conversation with the cast member standing nearby who said ‘you shouldn’t be waiting as long as that…” and as if by magic the service trolley arrived with our food which on first bite was stone cold. Back to same CM who was apologetic again….She then disappeared and came back 5 mins later with a further service trolley with food. This time the food she assured was piping hot and fresh and placed on the table but was at best lukewarm. Kind of exasperated by this stage we bit the bullet and ate what was put in front of us.

DW and I shared the Croque Madame

and The open faced bacon and egg sandwich

and DS the Croque madame.

The bacon and egg sarnie I’ve got to say was decidedly average however the croque madame was tasty enough. Given the earlier calamities we somehow ended up with 2 trays of pastries which we gave a good go of scoffing.

These were reasonable enough. We used 3 CS credits. Fairly disappointing meal here I’m afraid.

Our last remaining CS credit was burned back at T’ Fork where we had to have a magic cookie bar each and wait for it……a brownie for the kid. That magic cookie bar is something I tell you…across between a flapjack and a traybake it is unlike any cake/bar I have ever tasted!

Somehow through sheer guts and determination we managed to use all of our DDP credits. It took a lot of mental strength, character and sheer bloody mindedness at times but we got there……I don’t know how we managed it really. I personally am now attending a detox facility for sugar and carbohydrates...

One last Florida meal was squeezed in at the Airport at The Outback. It was pretty good too. Alice Springs chicken for me

chicken sandwich for DW

and chicken tenders for DS.

$50 inc tip.

The flight home was best forgotten really from a food perspective. Here are the photos. Pigs swill springs to mind………

Thanks everyone for taking the time to read and I hope you enjoyed looking at the food as much as I enjoyed eating it!
