Dining plans look great I'm interested in seeing if they do a Rivers of Light package at Flame Tree BBQ. Would keep an eye open if that's on the QSDP if I was you, unless you hate Flame Tree of course haha.

The holiday sandwich is truly outstanding. We didn't bother with EoS for years; always put off by the line but it actually is very organised and moves quickly and it's so, so worth it!

Yay, another solo traveller - I didn't realise how many of us there are until I started my pre-trippie! You're countdown isn't far behind mine either!

I definitely have moments where I feel a little sad that nobody is coming with me - but I also cannot wait to be able to do whatever the heck I want for two whole weeks!
I'm a bit worried I'll start talking to myself in a big way though...

Yay, so we are. I'll be the impossibly pale person decked head to toe in Disney and muttering to myself
I'll need to head over and check out you're pre-trippie

Yeah I'd heard something about that - would definitely be interesting to see how that all works... assuming Rivers of Light is open by September lol!

QS meals planned so far... Part Two

Continuing on with QS choices today

Kringla Bakeri og Kafe

Not the most high profile of QS places but I eat here every trip. They do a ham and apple toastie type thing on wholemeal bread which is always a nice change from a lot of Disney food. I love sitting in the covered outdoor seating in the evenings too

Flame Tree BBQ

I've eaten here a few times before and while I like it, I don't think I've ever loved it. Still, I'll definitely visit again and maybe try ordering something different - I don't think I've had the ribs before I may not be overly enamoured with the food but the view is hard to beat!

Restaurantosaurus

As you may be able to see from the other places I've listed, I don't eat a whole lot of burgers/ chicken strips when in WDW. Still I do like a little bit of those sort of things and that's what I'm heading here for - I do love the Disney QS burgers!

Casey's Corner

Hurrah, the corn dog nuggets are now available as a QS meal option! Probably terrible 'value' but I love those corn dog nuggets! Plus I love eating out on Main Street

Everything Pop - lunch dinner

I'll probably end up eating something from here while I wait for the Tragical Express to take me back to MCO. The menu is huuuuge, so I have no idea what I'd like to try, but I'm very much looking forward to eating in a proper American hotel food court.

So that's 20 credits accounted for - 8 are still floating credits.

Basically I'd like to have 2 unaccounted for, for late night hunger etc. So that takes us to 22.

I know I'll need to use probably another 3 for evenings in AK once we actually know how everything is going to go there so I'll keep 3 aside for this but decide on the specifics furthr down the line. And that takes us to 25.

So, yeah... 3 credits I'm not quite sure what to do with (translation: how to fit more food in ).

And that's everything for this update. I dragged the suitcase out the other day and tried on all my existing Florida clothes from past trips that was, erm, enlightening. So, a shopping list has been made and I've started picking bits up as I go - must... resist... buying... all... the Primark Disney tshirts!

I've heard great things about Art of Animation's food court and am planning on wandering over from Pop one time, might be an idea for one of the spare credits

Working on the to-do list!

Hello folks,
I haven't been around as much this week; was a six day week at work so I've been pretty knackered in the evenings! Like a lot of people I'm patiently waiting for the free DDP details to be released on Thursday and lucky for me, it just happens to be my day off so I can have a truly Disney day

Countdown is at 141 now and while some days I could swear time has stopped, realistically it is getting closer and I thought it was about time I put together a still-to-do list so I can work away on things over the weeks, so here we are:

- Sort out travel insurance. (In the past I have always done this at the time of booking flights, but this time around it didn't make sense to. My insurance costs are high because of my anxiety so I'd actually lose less if I just cancelled my flight now and lost the money - minus taxes - than if I took out insurance and paid the excess on a claim! )
- Get travellers cheques and dollars sorted and double check what small denomination notes I still have from last trip.
- Place a Garden Grocer order, or an order from Amazon.com for water and other bits if Garden Grocer doesn't seem worth it for a solo trip.
- Buy new swimsuit
- Buy a couple of dresses for in the parks
- Buy all tolietries including sunscreen
- Buy new black Converse hi-tops (try not to faint at how expensive these are now! )
- Buy a Fitbit
- Decide on whether or not to upgrade iPhone. Currently still using an iPhone 4 but I can't updat the iOS anymore and now MDE won't run!
- Book taxi to airport
- Decide on and book airport lounge for Gatwick
- Organise and print all paperwork
- Book FP+ at 60 days
- Wash all clothes and bags that are coming with me
- Buy all the little misc bits and pieces; adaptors, Ziploc bags etc.
- Do OLCI for Pop Century at 60 days
- Do OLCI for flights the day before
- Pre-Order meals at BOG
- Finalise itenirary
- Finalise touring plans

So, it's still a while until I go, but then there's a fair bit still to do too so I should probably start working on things! It's around 20 weeks until I go, and there's 20 things on that list!

I've been buying a few little bits clothes-wise for the trip recently. I'm really trying not to spend a whole bunch on cute outifts because I know once I'm there I won't really care and buying all these wee bits really adds up! It's easy to spend £200 on Disney Primark stuff and new shorts etc., but when you think about it, £200 is more than half of what I paid for my flight
So yes, trying to be sensible about it and not buy things I don't need. I'll update soon and show the few bits and pieces I have bought.

Next update will probably be the first draft of my itenirary - I've pretty much worked out what days I'll be where now; unless of course ROL and the night time AK stuff changes things somehow!

The itenirary: Part One

Back for another update and today I thought I’d share my relatively finalised itinerary. It’s always tricky to fully lock things in place until FP+ are all booked and Disney does their last minute change/extension of hours; and this year things are a little extra tricky what with all the changes coming to AK and the fact that we don’t have specifics to work with yet. Still, I’m pretty confident this will stay at least 90% the same so it seems as good a time as any to commit it to Excel and share it on here.

I also kind of feel the need to preface this with a kind of PSA, just in case any first timers or families look at this Spreadsheet! This is not a smart way to tour for the majority of people; long days and excessive walking are going to cause most people to burn out. Hitting parks with EMH means they are busier – you will get more done in a non EMH park with shorter hours, than in an EMH park with extended hours. And also, rest days/half days are definitely, absolutely advisable in most cases! Anyway, with that in mind, here is my Spreadsheet overview page showing where I’ll be:

Pink = Magic Kingdom, Blue = Epcot, Green = Animal Kingdom and Purple = Hollywood Studios.
Grey = travel, Yellow = QS meal or snack, Dark Purple = TS meal and Orange = Disney Springs.

Since I’m guessing that Spreadsheet is quite possibly as clear as mud, let’s actually look through it in English rather than colour-coded bars!

Essentially it breaks down to:

Day One Travel / Disney Springs or Explore the resort
Day Two Epcot/ Magic Kingdom
Day Three Magic Kingdom
Day Four Animal Kingdom
Day Five Studios/ Epcot
Day Six Epcot
Day Seven Magic Kingdom
Day Eight Magic Kingdom/MNSSHP
Day Nine Epcot/ Magic Kingdom
Day Ten Animal Kingdom
Day Eleven Animal Kingdom
Day Twelve Magic Kingdom
Day Thirteen Animal Kingdom
Day Fourteen Magic Kingdom/ Disney Springs
Day Fifteen Animal Kingdom/ Travel

Or, in a little more detail:

Day One

Travel day, probably arriving at Pop somewhere around 1730 if all goes to plan.
I want to try and stay awake until 2300 or so, so it’s important I don’t sit about in the room! Ideally I’ll head to Disney Springs and get some Earl of Sandwich Holiday Sandwich, but I know I’ll be very tired and burned out from the anxiety so I might not fancy buses and crowds. In that case I’m going to have a big walk around Pop Century and Art of Animation; it’ll feel great to stretch my legs after being on aeroplanes all day. If I do that I’ll eat at either Everything Pop or Landscape of Flavours.

Day Two

I wanted to do something different on my first day, start a new tradition and do something that maybe other people I travel with wouldn’t like to do. I know I’ll be up at silly o’clock so I’m going to make the most of it and head out to Trails End over at Fort Wilderness for breakfast.
I know most folks prefer to rope drop on the first morning, and I always have too – but this time I’m really looking forward to getting to ride buses and boats and have a lovely walk around the Fort on my first morning. Then it’s boats and monorails (my favourite) over to Epcot for the afternoon (1200 – 1800); planning to use my FP+ for the day here and just stay in Future World – having a QS meal in Sunshine Seasons.

Planning to then monorail again over to Magic Kingdom for the last few hours (1900 – 2300) – having dinner at Columbia Harbour House and doing some attractions in the dark.

Day Three

Planning to be at Magic Kingdom all day today; it’s a party day so the park is only open 0900 – 1900. Starting off with breakfast at Everything Pop, and then heading to Magic Kingdom in time for rope drop. Lunch is at Be Our Guest and I’m also planning to see the Festival of Fantasy today so that if it’s rained off (as it was last trip!) then I can re-plan to see it later on the trip. After Magic Kingdom closes at 1900, then I’m heading over to the Polynesian for dinner at Kona Café. I’ll wander around the resort for a while before heading back to Pop.

Day Four

Day Four is an Animal Kingdom day, so of course it’s a little hard to plan at the moment! I know that I’ll be there for rope drop, after having breakfast in the room, and I’ll stay for Rivers of Light… whatever time that may be! Lunch is going to be at Yak and Yeti Local Food Café, and for dinner I’m currently holding off until we know what’s happening with the Rivers of Light dining packages and how ‘worth it’ they are.

Day Five

Today I’m having breakfast again in Everything Pop (I’m very, very excited to be able to have waffles for breakfast in a proper American food-court). Today is also my one and only visit to Hollywood Studios for this trip, which I know will seem crazy to some folks, but based on what I actually want to do, it’s definitely the right decision for me. Planning to rope drop the park and stay there most of the day, so 0900 – 1700 probably. Lunch is booked for The Hollywood Brown Derby so I can have that amazing Cobb Salad! I’m skipping the night time stuff at the Studios this time around and instead will head out around 1700 and walk over to the Boardwalk Bakery for something to eat, taking my time and simply heading into Epcot for Illuminations.

Day Six

Today is breakfast in the room and then all day at Epcot (0900 – 2100). Planning to spend the morning in Future World with a lunch ADR booked at Coral Reef and then heading up into World Showcase in the afternoon with dinner at Kringla Bakeri og Kafe in Norway. Not planning on staying for Illuminations tonight (unless for some reason I couldn’t see it the night before), so instead I’m planning on heading back into Future World in the last couple of hours and riding Test Track in the dark as well as a couple of other attractions before heading out just before the Illuminations crowd does!

Day Seven

Today is back to the Magic Kingdom all day (0900 – 2200) with a pre-rope drop breakfast at Be Our Guest – which seems pretty great value on the QSDP! I have a sit down lunch booked at Liberty Tree Tavern to break up the day a little and get out of the heat/rain. Dinner will be at Cosmic Rays Starlight Café which I don’t love but is now the only place to get a Pulled Pork Sandwich since Disney changed the entire Pecos Bills menu. Planning to watch The Main Street Electrical Parade tonight and take my time leaving the park to avoid the crush of the crowds.

Part Two coming soon!

The Itenirary: Part Two

Day Eight

Another long Magic Kingdom day today; having breakfast in the room and then rope-dropping and staying for MNSSHP, so 0900 – 0000. Lunch is at Columbia Harbour House again, I haven’t eaten there on the past couple of trips, so I’m keen to visit a couple of times this time around. Dinner is a sit down meal at The Plaza which has been on my bucket list for a long time. My plans for the party are to see both parades; but I’m going to watch Hallowishes another night from the TTC. I’m also not into character meet and greets, so mostly I just want to walk around and soak up the atmosphere and do a few attractions here and there. I might want to see the Hocus Pocus stage show that launched last year, but I’m not great with standing in a crowd, so I’ll see how I feel on the night.

Day Nine

Bit of a later start today with being at MNSSHP last night. Today is also the first day of the Food and Wine Festival and my last visit to Epcot on this trip. The festival makes the park busier and I feel like I won’t enjoy doing the booths as much myself as I will on future trips with Kenny – so I feel spending one day doing the festival and mopping up the bits of the park I’ve missed will be plenty. Planning a bit of a lie in and an arrival at Epcot for 1100. Heading straight for food at Sunshine Seasons, before wandering round World Showcase – I’ll order from a couple of booths as well as have some of my favourite World Showcase snacks. I’ll head back into Future World around six and do a few bits and pieces before getting the Monorail over to Magic Kingdom at about 1930. Magic Kingdom has EMH tonight until 0000 so the plan is to use a couple of FP+ and then hopefully enjoy some shorter waits later on in the night. I’ll stay until close!

Day Ten

Another later night last night means a slightly later start today. Planning breakfast at Everything Pop and an arrival at Animal Kingdom for 1100. Once again staying until close, whenever that might be. Lunch is at Yak and Yeti Local Food Café again – I love that place – and dinner later on is currently down for Flame Tree BBQ. Very excited about not just Rivers of Light and Kilimanjaro Safaris in the dark, but just having the chance to be in the park at night time and enjoy the atmosphere.

Day Eleven

Another full day at Animal Kingdom – well, it is my favourite park! I’ll be there from rope drop at 0900, after having breakfast in the room, right through until close. Lunch is at Restaurantausaurus so I can have one of those delicious Disney CS burgers! I don’t have anything in for dinner at the moment, I’ll wait and see what the Tiffins menu is like when it comes out.

Day Twelve

Back to Magic Kingdom all day (0900 – 2100). I actually have a late breakfast booked for Crystal Palace, which, I had said I wasn’t doing this trip (character meal, cost etc.). But I’ve never not done Crystal Palace and I just don’t feel ready to let go of the tradition, so we’ll see! Dinner is at Casey’s Corner tonight where I’ll be having some corn dog nuggets now that they can be part of a CS meal! Tonight is another opportunity to see The Main Street Electrical Parade if I missed it earlier in the trip, or if I want to see it again.

Day Thirteen

Another day at Animal Kingdom, but I’m only staying 0900 – 1700 today. Breakfast is in the room and then rope drop at Animal Kingdom. Lunch is booked for Yak and Yeti – though they seem to have changed the ribs on the menu, which was what I was going for, so I’m not 100% I’ll keep this ADR as I have plenty of CS credits to use. Leaving the park around 1700 to head over to Fort Wilderness for dinner at Trails End which we did last trip and loved. After dinner, I’m planning to head over to either the Polynesian or the TTC and watch Hallowishes.

Day Fourteen

Last full day is being spent at Magic Kingdom. I have another pre-rope drop ADR at Be Our Guest. I haven’t decided on where for lunch yet – torn between Pinocchio Village Haus and maybe giving the new Pecos Bills menu a shot. Staying at Magic Kingdom until 1900 and then heading over to Disney Springs for an Earl of Sandwich, and the chance to do a little shopping before heading home; though I’m determined not to spend much on Disney souvenirs this year!

Day Fifteen

Leaving today but my flight home isn’t until 2020 so I have almost a full day. Leaving bags with bell services then heading for breakfast at Boma at 1000. I love AKL, we stayed there last trip and I just have to visit again – so I’ll eat and just have a little look around the lobby. Then heading to Animal Kingdom for a few hours, do one last safari and anything else I fancy. Head back to Pop around 1330 and have time for lunch at Everything Pop before the Tragical Express comes to take me to MCO.
