Who needs sleep anyway?! March 2016 Honeymoon. Day 10 Epcot, Disney Springs, Jock Lindsey's & MK

Day 10 Epcot, Disney Springs, Jock Lindsey's, Magic Kingdom

Previous day is here

Welcome to our trip report. I'm Emily & my Husband is Gary - we got married on 5 March 2016 & spent our honeymoon in NYC, Washington DC & Orlando. Our pre-trip report is here if you want to have a look at our plans.

Wednesday 16th March

We left at 8.25 this morning and headed to Epcot.≈ It was a bit cloudier today but it was still warm. We parked and were through security and in line to get in to the park by 8.40. They let us in slightly early and we were in the Mission Space orange stand by line by 9. This was the one we didn’t have a fastpass for (due to the tier system), so we wanted to get it done before the queue got bigger. As we wanted to get there before a queue built up we didn't stop for photo pass pictures this morning, but there are plenty to come haha!

I was quite worried about this as I remember it making me feel AWFUL when I was younger . I can cope with rollercoasters but simulators don't seem to agree with me (spoiler - Universal confirmed this !). I got more and more nervous as we waited, but after 10 minutes we were on. I did it and I survived ! It was nowhere near as bad as I remember, but I kept my eyes open and I think that helped. I think closing my eyes made me feel worse when I was younger, as they emphasise that you should keep them open no matter what. 13 year old me ignored their advice.

We were out in perfect timing for our FP for test track. The standby time was 75 mins already.

Our car won . We were not ready for the brightness of the outside bit and I could have done with my hairbrush afterwards haha .

We got some photo pass pictures (with 3 different photographers since they weren't busy!).

We entered world showcase, turning left. We got some breakfast at Joffreys - frozen drinks, a Danish pastry for Gary & donut for me.

This came to $19.98.

I'm on holiday so a donut the size of my head is a perfectly acceptable breakfast

We wandered round and at 10.20 got to the place where it wasn't open yet (just passed Akershus). We sat on a bench in the shade and finished our drinks, taking some photos with the flower and garden festival characters.

We decided to walk back round to our character spot fast pass instead of waiting for the showcase to open. Standby time was only 10 minutes so we joined the queue and I changed our FP on the MDE App to Nemo, so that we could do that straight after. We met Mickey, Goofy and Minnie .

We headed to Nemo and enjoyed this, even though it was a children's ride (we both love the movie!). We had a look at the fish/shark tanks etc on the way out.

We then walked round to our Spaceship Earth FP. Neither of us remember this from when we came as teenagers.

We stopped for ages beside the 3 middle eastern people (I think to load a wheelchair) and then stopped again at the dark backwards bit, so I had a wee nap! Our busy days were catching up on us. Time for caffeine. I nipped into Starbucks then we went in to club cool. We both tried the Beverly, eeeew!

We walked back to world showcase and headed round, turning right.

In England, Alice was just coming out so I waited a few minutes and met her.

She told me she liked my bow round my wrist but it should be in my hair. Then we got some photo pass picturess with the Epcot frame & continued to wander round, looking at the garden festival sculptures as we went.

It was very humid today. Gary nipped into the restroom to change his top. We walked into Morocco, the queue for Jasmine was 30 minutes so we skipped this.
We were a bit peckish to got a Beef udon in Japan to share, this was quite tasty.
With a bottle of water this came to $8.70

I'd love to be here during the Food and Wine Festival to try lots of little dishes!
We had a look in the shops in Japan and China, mainly to cool down in the air con as we were melting a bit :rem:. We also got some more photo pass pictures.

Deciding we were done, we stopped on the way out to get my dad a flower and garden festival tshirt (he's a keen gardener and I always struggle to get him something so this was ideal). We left the park at 2. We enjoyed Epcot but it was probably our least favourite park. I think a night drinking around the world, perhaps during Food and Wine to try some good food and watch illumiNations, might have won us over, but we weren't too excited about it that day.

Back at POFQ we had a quick freshen up and got changed, leaving again at 3. We went via reception to post some postcards (I love a good old fashioned postcard!). We also went in to the lobby shop to get Gary a POFQ pin.≈Tonight's plan was to shop at Disney Springs, then go to MK for some more shopping and EMH .

We walked down to the boat dock to get the boat to Disney Springs. We only had to wait 5 mins and we were on our way, arriving at Disney Springs about 3.40.

On the boat

We really enjoyed the boat ride, it was nice to sit down and enjoy the breeze. We bought a Star Wars and Olaf ornaments in the Christmas shop (guess who was whos!) had a look in Art of Disney. Gary was getting quite hangry by this point so we went to Earl of Sandwich. He had an Earls Club and I got the Italian.

He ate his in record time then finished mine too! These were tasty and filled a hole.

We headed to the shops. I got a Pandora Minnie charm in the Coop and Gary got his Dad a tshirt in World of Disney. That shop is MASSIVE ! We walked along to where the construction work got really concentrated and it got very crowded, then turned back and went in to Jock Lindsey's Hangar Bar for a drink to cool down.

Still hot at 5pm

We sat on the outside boat bit, watching the amphi cars launch. I had a cool headed monkey & Gary had a wrong island. We also ordered the Air Pirates Pretzels, which came on a cute metal aeroplane stand.

We left $38. We both really enjoyed this, the setting on the boat deck was great and the cocktails and pretzels were delicious.

Inside the bar when we were heading out

Just after 6 we headed to the bus stop to get to MK, via the Polynesian for a wee look around. We got on the bus to the Polynesian at 6.15, stopped at Typhoon Lagoon and eventually got to the Poly at 6.45. This is a resort we both wanted to visit and we weren't disappointed. Its beautiful!
We sat and had a drink on the outside terrace at Trader Sams.

Gary ordered a Coke and I ordered a pineapple spikey - rum & pineapple soft serve = my idea of heaven! Gary had 3 Coke refills in the time we were sitting, the cups were so tiny ! There was a guitarist from wahu playing, he was great. We left $18.

We got on the monorail to head to MK at 7.25.

We had a look in the shops on Main Street. Gary got a watch and I got the Carriage Pandora charm that I'd also wanted at Disney Springs but thought I couldn’t justify. Gary persuaded me since he was getting his watch anyway .

We got some photo pass pictures in front of the castle and walked round to POTC.

Gary loved this when he came as a teenager and couldn't wait to get on it. I wasn't quite so excited but I couldn’t say no. The standby time showed 30 mins, we entered the queue at 8.06 and this was the first≈ accurate wait time we encountered, waiting about 32 mins. It didn't feel like it though. It was really warm until we got into the inside queue bit where the air con kicks in.
The people were so life like on this ride!
Gary bought a metal travel mug in the shop and some juice too.

Trying on Pirate hats in the shop

Dark photo outside POTC

We saw the train pulling in so got on the railroad and headed round to Fantasyland. We were flagging a bit by now, our busy week was catching up on us and the heat today wasn't helping.
We walked up to the Little Mermaid ride, it was showing a 10 minute standby at 9.15, but that was just the time it took to walk round the queue and reach the ride!≈ I loved this ride, it made me want to watch the movie . We (I) sung along all the way round.

We walked round to Gastons, neither of us wanted anything though so decided to go on the carousel. The wait said 5 minutes but it was more like 15, trainee cast members were slowing it down but I suppose they've got to learn some how!

We walked round to tomorrowland and headed in to Monsters inc at 10pm. We bought thought this was quite funny. We got a photo pass picture on the bridge.

We decided we were done for the day, ironically not making EMH after coming especially for them ! We were just so tired and we wanted to be at Hollywood Studios for opening the next morning. We had FPs booked for the things we still wanted to ride anyway.

We got to the POFQ bus stop at 10.40 and were on the bus and back at POFQ at 11.08. We walked back to our room via food court. Gary got the Chicken Poboy this time and I just got a packet of crisps.

Chicken Poboy

We found the POFQ great for an after park snack. I don't think we would have gone for dinner any more than once, but for the odd snack/meal it was fine for us. We turned the lights of just after 12 .

This was our first and only day using the buses and although we only waited a short while both times, it was still a bit frustrating and not something either of us wanted to do on holiday. I know the buses are great for some, but not for us. We much preferred the freedom of the car and although we'd planned to use them a bit more in the evenings so Gary could have a drink, he was so excited with the Mustang he preferred to drive anyway!

Today's highlights -
- Surviving Orange Mission Space!
- POTC for Gary
- Cocktails and chill time at Jock Lindsay's Hangar bar and Trader Sams.

Thanks for reading if you're still with me

Ooh that pineapple cocktail sounds so good! Could just drink one of those!

We used the buses last time but am planning to hire a car for next time as, although we didn't mind the wait that much, there were some occasions where all we wanted to do was get somewhere quickly!

Haha of course.... It's actually quite embarrassing, he's such a big fan and I still haven't even seen the new one . Give me Harry Potter over a light saber any day!

Haha! I can't believe he hasn't forced you to watch them yet
I'm a big fan of both so it's good for me that there is so much Harry Potter and Star Wars themed merchandise/rides over there!
