Triple Treat Tour July 2016 Day 14 Boats, Cars, Karts and No Lobster

The previous day is HERE

Saturday 16 July

I was first awake at 6 and sat outside with a coffee writing up my notes and just enjoying the morning peace. These are the holiday moments that you wish you could bottle for those dreary grey days – just like today in fact. Bank holiday Saturday and its tiddling down

We have a lazy morning at the pool and set off at 1130 for Bob Evans

Wow, its really busy

It takes 20 minutes to get seated

And 30 minutes for food to arrive which we had to throw down our necks as we were by now running short of time for our drive to the Wild Florida airboat ride.

Jamie and I had Farmers Choice breakfasts with the luscious brioche toast

Andy had the sunshine skillet open omelette

Connor and Nick had ham and cheese melt sandwiches

The food was delicious.

I didn't get a pic of the receipt but it was fab value. $55 inc the drinks

We had allowed an hour to get to Wild Florida and we certainly needed it

Just so much traffic and omg, how many jeffing traffic lights :angry:are there – it just seemed endless, every light went red as we got there.

The sat nav had a fit and had us going in a big loop, which meant we in fact ended up seeing the Loop for the first time, looked nice but not when you are in a rush !

It was really stressy

As we got out onto the quieter roads, people drive very slowly

They were not on a schedule

We were

So we needed them to speed up a bit

It was not a relaxing drive at all but Andy did really well to get us there for 1.50 – just enough time to register for our 2pm boat ride

It has been years since we did an airboat ride and that was in 2010 at Boggy Creek

These tix had come free with our Attractions Tickets Direct order so we had no real expectations

It was brill !

Andy quite fancied one of these

We had the back row and Connor and Andy were in single seats

They got mega sunburn on their legs !

It was really hard to take pics as we were whizzing along so fast

It was great though seeing the birds and enjoying the view

We did see a mummy gator minding her nest and a young gator swam out in front of us

She’s hiding in here – she looks tiny but was apparently about 8 foot long !

We could see this on the other side of the lake – that’s where we are heading back – looks rainy !

Love these creepy trees

All too soon our 30 minutes were over , it had been great fun

Ladies, Airboat tip, don’t wear pale coloured cotton shorts

The seats are plastic

It is very hot

You will sweat

A lot

So when you get off , it will look like you wet yourself with sweat

There will be patches on the back of your shorts

Nightmare

I can speak from experience !

It started to hammer down with rain as we were leaving just before 3 – it had been good fun and all the better for being free !

We had a much less stressful drive back, noticing lots of these chaps on the way

Passing by here

And deciding to stop at Old Town so the teens could do some Karting – shout out to Dibber lisahump for passing some $25 Free passes to us , they were put to good use . Thank You

They went on the two kart tracks and had an absolute blast

Such concentration !

Much discussion about on track tactics

And then onto this one

Whilst they were doing that we also watched a couple of people do this –

I have no idea who these people are but they must be barking

They get slingshot across

It’s a fun atmosphere – boiling hot though

The boys went off to get some drinks and we had a look at the classic cars that were arriving for the Cruise

Too funny

Cant think why this is called the Vomatron

Ah, we had an old MG Gentry many years ago, it was good fun even though you could see the road through the holes in the floor !

ZZ Top style paintwork, it was stunning

We had great fun wandering around here

We had seen enough by 6pm and set off for the villa

The boys wanted to stay in so we just did them some chicken and chips from the freezer.

Not wanting to pass up the opportunity of dinner on our own we decided o venture out

Our Villa

And the estate

We headed out to Red Lobster about 7.30

It was very busy with a 25 minute wait for a table so we sat at the bar instead.

I had a delicious Bahama Mama $7.50

The cheese biscuits were as lovely as ever

I had a cup of the loaded potato soup $4.99

And the chicken Caesar salad for main $11.79

And had steak, with lobster and shrimp. $22.49 plus $4.29 for an additional side

What's wrong with this photo ?

Yep, not a darn crusty shelled creature in sight.

When it arrived we asked the server where the sides were. After Andy had finished his steak some anaemic shrimp arrived but no lobster ... Apparently it was never ordered.

What a let down . The whole point of coming here was for the lobster.

And no deduction off the $66 bill either. Once We raised the issue the server seemed to do a disappearing act.

We left very fed up and won't go back .

Very disappointed for Andy ... My food was very nice but I might as well have had that anywhere

Feeling a bit flat we were back home by 9.30. Think that could be the last trip there for a while !

The next day is HERE

I'm thinking of trying an air boat next time but unsure if 30 minutes is long enough. I think and hour might be too long for the first time. But I'll remember not to wear white shorts . Also plan the car cruise next time. Such a shame that probably the only time you and Andy get out alone to eat that they mess up the order .

What a different kind of day. I haven't done an airboat ride yet - we are driving through the Everglades this year so stopping off for a boat ride is one of the options (got to play it by teen wifi withdrawal and general sociabilty levels on the day). I didn't even know about the go kart place but it looks cool.

What a shame about Red Lobster. DH doesnt get excited about restaurants (opposites attract) but RL is somewhere he enjoys because it's harder to get shellfish as easily and quickly at home. He would be devastated if they left out his lobster tail and crab legs. I don't do shellfish and always have the caeser salad there like you so I would feel a bit cheated if I had had to go there for no reason. At least you had the cheese biscuits though. They are awesome x

Oh no what a shame they messed up the order. Neither hubby or I go there as we don't eat any seafood but cousins do (we drop them off and head elsewhere that night). They normally have a great meal and would be well annoyed if the lobster didn't arrive.

Ah, you should try, I think it was just too busy . We have always found it ok, just this one mess up ... But it did rather defeat the point of the visit !

30 minutes is over quickly. We did the hour trip in 2010 on our very first trip. It was good fun. We enjoyed looking at the cars , it's Andy's kind of thing, all the shiny engines.
Yeah, real mess up on the order. Nightmare

It was nice to mix it up a bit today . We really enjoyed a bit of time around Funspot , it was like a trip to the fairground over here. The lads loved the karting, it's $8 a go so not too wildly expensive but we were really lucky to have the passes.

The cheese biscuits, I made some last weekend as we have a few boxes of the mix. Oh they are nomlicious

It was a shame as he really enjoys the lobster , it's the whole point
