Epcot Food & Wine Festival - Italy

Epcot Food & Wine Festival - Italy

Final bit of foodie heaven coming atcha! With food tried from the Italy, and Brazil Booths, as well as Liam noshing on a funnel cake. We also saw Boyz II Men perform on the stage as part of Eat To The Beat. We did have a meal booked at Via Napoli, which gave us priority seating, but we cancelled that in the end, as wanted to eat our way around the festival (and that we did!) We were still able to see the stage, and of course hear them!

When it comes to the Deluxe Disney Dining Plan at the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival, you can use one snack credit where the symbol is displayed. You can also use one meal credit to purchase 3 snack items in one transaction.

Ravioli alla Caprese - Cheese Ravioli, Tomato Sauce, Mozzarella, Parmesan, and Basil$6.00

Filetto di Pollo con Funghi al Marsala - Chicken Tenderloin, Cremini Mushrooms, Marsala Sauce, and Ciabatta Bread$6.00

Cannoli al Cioccolato - Chocolate-Covered Cannoli filled with Sweet Ricotta, Chocolate, and Candied Fruit$4.00

Looking back at my spreadsheet for where we spent our money on this trip – yes, I do that! How else can I remember for these trip reports?! – I can see that we used 3 snack credits for the food from Italy

Snack Credit: Funnel Cake

I'm sure that funnel cakes were not snack credits when we visited in 2014 and did the dining plan, but it seems they are now!

Liam had a chocolate funnel cake with a slab of ice cream and sugar. Funnel cakes are delicious - they taste like doughnuts!

As I mentioned before we saw Boyz II Men, and they were fab. I absolutely loved these guys when I was a teenager, having many of their singles on 7″ vinyl (remember those!) and would play their album endlessly on my Walkman (ditto!) I thought we had some video of them singing, but looks like we don’t. What a shame!

Epcot Food & Wine Festival - Brazil

Epcot Food & Wine Festival - Brazil

We paid for these items in cash.

Crispy Pork Belly with Black Beans and Tomato$5.00

Cocada - Brazilian Coconut Candy$2.00

We bought the crispy pork belly again from the Brazil booth because we enjoyed it so much when we visited before. The little coconut cake was all for me, as Steve despises coconut!

Roaring Fork

Roaring Fork

We then drove home, where, despite what looks like tons of food eaten during the day, we picked up a snack from Roaring Fork and brought it back up to our room. I couldn’t tell you exactly what we had, but here are the rest of the pics. Looks to me like a sandwich and a salad

And those cupcakes, oh my gosh – Disney make the best cupcakes!

Yorkshire County Fish Shop

Yorkshire County Fish Shop

I should have put this entry before the EF&W entries!

Our first port of call was the UK Pavilion, where Liam decided he wanted Fish & Chips from Yorkshire County Fish Shop. I grabbed a table outside the Rose & Crown pub while Liam went and lined up for his lunch, and Steve went to get some food from the Ireland Booth.

I don’t seem to have a record of the price (or if we used a dining credit) for the fish and chips, but I’m pretty sure we paid out of pocket, looking online, it seems to be around $10. Liam ate it up, so I'm pretty sure it was good fish and chips!

Jiko - The Cooking Place

Jiko - The Cooking Place

We have dined at Jiko before, and it’s one of our favourite signature restaurants. It’s got a lovely atmosphere, and the food is delicious. Signature restaurants always serve a free basket of bread (and you can ask for top ups) so it’s a way to save on appetizers if you are paying out of pocket!

When it comes to the Deluxe Disney Dining Plan at a signature restaurant you are entitled to one appetizer, one entrée, one dessert and one non-alcoholic beverage per person (usually refillable) for two credits per person.

Appetizers…

Me: Taste of Africa – African-Inspired Dips with Khobz, Poppy Seed Lavash, and House-Made Naan ($10)

Him: Roasted Cauliflower Flatbread – Bhuna Masala, Cipollini Onions, Lamb Chopper Cheese, and Mitmita Gremolata ($11)

The Boy: Crispy Duck Bobotie Roll – Cucumber Raita and Green Mango Atjar ($12)

Often, for appetizers we share them between us, and that’s what we did here. I couldn’t tell you what dips came with the breads, as the server reeled them off so fast, I didn’t get a chance to make a note of them!

Entrées…

Me: Chermoula Rubbed Colorado Lamb Chops – Chickpea-Cumin Dumplings, Wilted Baby Spinach, Roasted Tiny Vegetables, and Fig-Port Wine Reduction ($52)

Him: Botswana-Style Seswaa Beef Short Rib – Cassava-Potato Purée, Sambal, and Mushrooms ($46)

The Boy: Garam Masala-Spiced Sea Scallops – Warm Applewood Bacon and Spinach Salad, Fennel-Caroline Gold Pilau ($41)

I also ordered a side dish, or “Enhancement” from the menu. This isn’t included in the dining plan, and we paid for this out of pocket.

Braai Macaroni & Cheese – Chakalaka, House-Made Boerewors Sausage, Provolone, Fontina, Gruyère, Asiago ($14)

The mac ‘n’ cheese was amazing. So, so tasty! I could have quite happily eaten another bowl of this and be done for my meal! I was quite surprised by Liam’s choice, as he very often goes for a steak, but he wanted scallops. Steve really enjoyed the short ribs, and I think it was probably the best dish of the three (apart from my mac ‘n’ cheese! )

Desserts…

Me: Malva Pudding – Amarula Crème, Wild Amarena Cherries, Toasted Meringue, Brandied Cherry Ice Cream ($12)

Him: Valrhona Chocolate Mousse and Hazelnut Dacquoise Cake – Ghana Chocolate Glaze, Plant City Strawberries, and Cahaba Farm Basil ($12)

The Boy: Ghanaian Chocolate and Kenyan Coffee Pot de Crème – Almond Crème with Almond Crunch and Raspberries ($11)

We were also given a plate of small cakes – free – I don’t know the name of them, but they were a bit like coconut macaroons.

The desserts, as you can, were just so pretty to look at, and were delicious in eating. Liam had the same dessert last year, and enjoyed it just as much. Steve, again, definitely made the best choice!

Jiko – The Cooking Place

Bill Total: $231.71 (6 Credits) {Tip: $46.31}

Ooh that's the second review I've read of Jiko today. It's not somewhere I'd really thought about before but it looks so good. Particularly that mac n cheese

Loving your F&W posts too - I cannot wait to be there next year!

It's lovely in Jiko - we've got it booked for our upcoming trip - I'm really hoping that mac n cheese is still on the menu!
