Day 4: Duane Reade dessert

We couldn't leave without saying goodbye to Duane Reade!

Actually we had gone to pick up stuff to take home, essentials such as vanilla deodorant, more peppermint bark for me & gifts, candy for Christmas gifts etc.

We also picked up some frozen goods for dessert. Nothing too fancy but nice nonetheless.

For me.

Yes, it was eaten in my PJ's.

For him.

Day 5 (Travel Day): Airport Food Court

Alas our wonderful trip came to and end. Goodbye New York

We made our way to the airport, got checked in and went looking for lunch. We perused menus and picked a nice looking French style place. We were seated at a table with a couple of fixed ipads and then...nothing.

A server saw that we were looking confused and came to check on us. It turned out that we needed to place our orders on the ipads and pay by swiping a credit card. Quite fancy but we didn't want to pay on card. Tough, that was the only way. At that time we didn't have a Clarity card and didn't want to be stung by extortionate foreign curreny transaction fees.

So we left and went to look elsewhere but every single restaurant and bar in the airport except for one tiny food court counter only took orders on these ipads.

I was happy to just to deal with the charges (it was my credit card) but Andy was adamant - I think he just had a bee in his bonnet and was being stubborn by that point.

So to the foodcourt we go. Looking at this picture online, it seems that has gone ipad ordering crazy too.

Out of the limited choices I went for Chinese.

Honey chicken & rice.

and a side egg roll.

Andy chose a cheeseburger & fries.

Mine was nice once I added a ton of soy/hot sauce. Andy's was.. well a food court cheeseburger & fries. What more can you say? :l

We did manage to pay by cash after receiving a few weird looks.

Day 5 (Travel Day): United Airlines in flight meal

So let's see if this was any better on the return than on the way out.

Chicken & cous cous.

Cold barley salad.

Nope, just as bad The Gelato was very tasty but almost melted, it almost had the texture of cold mousse.

Either we didn't get breakfast or more than likely it was't worn taking a picture of.
