Squirrels and Sizzlers - Day 2 - The one with all the cakes

Got up at a more respectable 6:30 and were out of the room by 8:10. It was a bit drizzly this morning but it didn’t last for long! We went over the road to Sizzlers for breakfast, $4.99 each for breakfast buffet plus drinks so it came to about $14 in total, such a bargain and really nice food as well! We would be visiting Sizzlers a lot during this holiday!

We got the Lynx bus to Florida Mall. You get to see a lot of the residential areas on the way and it really isn’t the nicest place in the world, I don’t think I would like to live in Orlando! One guy got on the bus and sat opposite us holding a screwdriver in his hand, he looked totally deranged and we both said after we got off the bus that he was a really scary bloke, I wouldn’t be surprised if he was arrested for murder shortly after that! We got to the mall at about 10:30. Ross got some Oakley sunglasses, I got some wonderwoman converse and Ross got some baseball caps. We went to the Apple shop as we wanted to buy an iPad while we were over there. When we looked at them we decided we wanted an iPad mini, until we realised that the queue out the door was for the mini so we decided to come back next week to see if the hype had calmed down!

Got the bus back at 12, dumped the bags in the room and went for a wander up I-Drive. Mini golf was calling us so we stopped at Pirates Cove golf and played Blackbeard’s Challenge which was 18 holes.

Spotted this little guy enjoying a snack!

I won with 52 and 2 holes in 1, Ross got 56. He hates losing to me at mini golf, he plays proper golf so technically he should be better than me! It was a really nice course, nothing like the boring mini golf courses back home!
Loser had to go in the stocks!

We went over the road to Tony Romas for some lunch. Ross had Kickin’ Chicken for starter and a pulled pork sandwich for main with a bud light.

Ross loved his starter because he managed to teach himself how to use chopsticks!

I had boneless chicken bites followed by shrimp scampi pasta with a passion fruit vodka and lemonade.

The food was amazing but there was just so much of it! My stomach is the size of a pea so I don’t know why I ordered a starter as well! Ross ate all of his and finished off my main, fatty. Bill came to $56 and we left $10 tip.

We got the I Trolley to Sea World and the Lynx to MK. The driver of the Lynx bus thought we were German...no mate, we won the war remember! Arrived at MK at 5:15 and got the monorail over this time. All the Christmas decorations had been put up overnight and it looked amazing!

Headed to Space Mountain getting some photopass pics on the way. It was only a 5min wait this time. Ross really enjoyed it, said it was one of his fave rides. We went to Peter Pan but it was still a massive queue so we got FP to use after Wishes. Decided to have another go on Buzz as it was only a 5min wait, I won this time yey! We bought Oliver a Buzz and Woody in the shop, Toy Story is his favourite film, he’s obsessed with it!

We had 10mins to kill before the Wishes Dessert Party started so we went on the People Mover, when we went through the Space Mountain bit the lights were on in Space Mountain for some reason, it was really interesting to see the track in the light!

We went to queue up for the Dessert Party at about 7, we were in within about two minutes and got taken to our seats right at the front! I know everybody gets up and goes to the balcony to view the fireworks anyways but our great seats meant we had uninterrupted views of the beautifully lit castle while we ate our desserts. The desserts were amazing! And teamed with a nice cup of hot chocolate it was heaven! Ross and I both have a good sweet tooth so we really really enjoyed it. The crème brule was definitely my favourite!

We stood by the balcony to watch the fireworks. I was really looking forward to this show. I purposefully didn’t watch any videos of it as I wanted to see it for the first time in person and it didn’t disappoint! Tinkerbell flew right over our heads (Ross said it was definitely a man!)! The music, the lighting and the amazing fireworks all worked so well together, it was without a doubt the best firework display I have ever seen in my life.

After Wishes it was time to use our FP for Peter Pan. I begged Ross to go on Small World but he just wouldn’t! Even I hate the song but isn’t it an unwritten rule that you must ride Small World while in Disney? Even so, he refused so we skipped it!

I really wanted to ride BTMR in the dark and it was only a 5min wait so we went on, I even spotted to party going on in one of the buildings which is something you can only see at night.

We headed out of the park via the Castle for more photopass pics, and getting some more on main street. We got the bus back to Sea World and while we were waiting for a taxi/itrolley back to the hotel a helicopter started circling with a search light on, made us slightly nervous as we came to the conclusion that the guy with the screwdriver was on the run this was made worse by the fact that our taxi driver took us to a dead end claiming he forgot where our hotel was! I honestly thought we were going to die that night but thankfully we made it home alive but knackered!

Tomorrow...Sea World!

I may have missed this from earlier - but is there a reason why you chose not to have a car - surely this woudl have been not only safer but also cheaper after the $45 taxi ride?

I honestly dont know how people manage without a car in the US - unless youre in NYC or SF?

There are a couple of reasons. I can't drive unfortuately so it was up to Ross if we got a car or not. He had never been to America before so the thought of driving on the other side and all of their other rules it was a bit daunting for him. Plus he likes to have the option of having a couple of beers when hes on holiday.
Personally I would have preferred a car because, like you said, it's cheaper and safer but getting the itrolley to Sea World then the Lynx to Disney often took about an hour in total so having a car would have saved a lot of time! But since it wasn't me who would be driving I left the choice to Ross and he chose not to hire a car.
We managed though! Next time we will be doing a split stay so taxis shouldn't be necessary!

Driving lessons for your birthday is whats needed! I must admit the thought of it taking an hour every day makes it sound like a long day - youve done brilliantly though and the report is fab

Yes it's a must now I have 2 kids, I want to be able to take them on days out places without relying on other people. Money (or lack of it!) has always stopped me from learning but I'm saving now so hopefully it wont be long till I'm on the road!
Thank you! I'm glad you are enjoying reading it!

Lovely pictures! Re: the driving, I'm 27 and have only just started to learn to drive, I completely understand the lack of money bit because that was our problem - we always had a holiday to save for! But do it, you'll be so pleased you did! My main reason was also because we have a little girl and it's awful not being able to get out and about.

Breakfast looks yummy, as does lunch and the dessert party! ! ! (I'm on a pre-holiday diet and so I'm permanently starving!). What's with all the "near death" experiences today? Firstly the bloke with the screwdriver on the bus (let's hope he was just an electrician or something!) and then the taxi incident at the end? That aside, another great day.
