Squirrels and Sizzlers - Day 3 - The one where it was cold
I was awake by 6:40 and we were ready and out by 8am.
We opted for a Sizzler breakfast, pretty much the same as yesterday! We were on the Itrolley by 8:35 and took the short ride to SeaWorld. Today was cooooold! I think the high was 53 degrees, glad I packed jumpers and trousers! I checked us in for our Sea Lion tour and we headed to Manta. We waited for about 20mins, only because the ride wasn’t actually open yet but there was already a queue building! We both really loved it, a lot like Air at Alton Towers but more thrilling in my opinion. I had put on my ballet pumps today so obviously took them off to ride so I apologise to whoever was sitting behind me as they had a lovely view of my mucky feet the whole ride! Next was Kraken and there was nobody in the queue...at all! The only people on the ride were me, Ross and two little kids, all of us on the front row! Ross loved Kracken, much preferred it to Manta! I did too a little bit really, I love the first drop! Ross got the ride photo for this one. I really didn’t fancy getting soaked on Atlantis in that temperature so we skipped that one! We went to have a look at the little Gators and went through the shark tunnel. The Clyde and Seymore show was at 11am so we watched the seals and sea lions until they let us into the arena. Our seats were really good, pretty much in the middle! I had heard a lot about the mime and he didn’t disappoint, he was hilarious! At one point he was pretending to show some people to their seats and just lead them out of the other side of the arena! He was also a little racist but still funny! I really loved the show, seals and sea lions are my favourite animals so I knew I would enjoy it. The little otter was so cute and the actors in the show were great. We went over to the stingrays next and paid $5 to feed them. It was such a funny feeling when they sucked the fish out of your fingers. It was definitely worth the $5. Next we headed over to the dolphins and watched them, we didn’t stick around for feeding as we were going to be getting up close and personal with some dolphins when we visited Discovery Cove on the weekend so we went into Turtle Trek. I really enjoyed looking at the fish before going into the cinema bit. The film was really good however it did hurt my neck looking up for all that time! We exited Turtle Trek just in time for the 1:30 showing of Blue Horizons. Now, I do love watching dolphin shows, they are so clever and graceful and make for enjoyable viewing...but what on earth are those acrobats dressed as birds doing?! I just didn’t get it, I just felt they were really unnecessary and would rather have just watched more of the dolphins! Ross agreed with me so at least I wasn't the only one to think it! It was now time for our Sea Lion tour so we headed over to Pacific Point and met with our guide, Renee. There was another couple and one family with two kids on our tour. First, Renee gave us a talk about the seals and sea lions, she asked us questions to see what we knew and gave us the opportunity to ask her questions. Seals and sea lions have been my favourite animal since I was very little so I already knew most of the facts she told us but I still found it very informative. I loved the fact that the birds that live at Pacific Point are not owned by Sea World, they are basically squatters who come for the fish! This part of the tour lasted about 15 mins. Next was the part I had been looking forward to the most and that was meeting one of the stars of the Clyde and Seymore show. We went into the stadium and they brought out Apollo. He was lovely, they told us a bit about him while he showed us his best tricks. We were told that they only use male sea lions in the show as they are a lot bigger so easier for the audience to see and that they have many sea lions they use and if one isn't in the mood to perform, they don't force them, they just use a different sea lion instead which was nice to hear. Then we had the opportunity to stand for a photo with him. He was HUGE! You don’t really appreciate how big they are when you are sat in the stands watching them but one you are stood next to one you soon realise that they could very easily sit on you and kill you if they wanted! It was certainly intimidating! After we said goodbye to Apollo we went back to Pacific Point to feed the sea lions. We were each given a bucket of very stinky slimy fish that we could throw into the water for the sea lions. There was a little competition going to see if anybody could throw far enough to reach one of the rocks in the middle of the pool, Ross managed it along with a couple of others in the group. I didn’t even try...I throw like the girl that I am! All together the tour lasted about 1 hour 45 mins. I loved it, I knew I would but it was really amazing being that close to my favourite animal! A must do for any fans like me! By now we were absolutely starving as we had eaten nothing since breakfast but we didn’t want a proper meal as it wouldn’t be too long until Dine with Shamu. I think we must have spent about half an hour wandering around trying to find something to eat! A few food places were closed by now and the ones that were open sold either tiny snacky things or full on meals. Eventually we came across Mango Joes. I got a ham salad croissant and Ross got a chicken croissant and a bud light, amazingly this came to $32 which is a ridiculous amount of money for below standard croissants but we were hungry so we paid it and ate it! Yes...$32 for 2 of those! We had a bit of time to kill so we looked around some of the gift shops and had another ride on Kracken. Then we went to the photo bit to collect out photo they took of us with Apollo, this cost $21 which we didn’t mind paying. They took a few photos so we had some to choose from. It was now 5:30 and time to check in for Dine With Shamu. Your booking came with a complementary photo which was taken before we were seated. We managed to get seats at the front again which was fab! We seem to be having a lot of good luck on this holiday! The choice of food was fab, very varied and since we are not picky eaters there were lots for us to choose from. I had macaroni and cheese, meatballs and pasta and seasoned potatoes, Ross had grilled chicken, pork loin, mac and cheese, meatballs and potatoes. It was all delicious! Ross also had two bud lights (his love of bud light grew as the holiday went on!) and I had a fanta. We also enjoyed lots of cake and strawberries for dessert. Sorry I totally forgot to take photos of this meal for some reason! Three whales came and did tricks. All my photos are rubbish for this, I couldn’t seem to press the button at the right time and ended up with lots of blur! The only decent picture I got and even this ones rubbish! At the end of the show the servers brought round our photos and a comment card that we filled in and left along with a tip. We left the stadium at about 6 and now it was dark it was even colder! We wandered back to the park entrance taking pics on the way out. Got the itrolley straight back to the hotel and straight to bed! Tomorrow...Universal and a little suprise for Ross!

Thanks folks!
The clear skys and bright sunshine was so deceiving! Naughty weather I'm just glad we hadn't booked DC on that day! Yea the tour was great, I have loved them since I was about 4 and it was my first time getting so close to one so it was like a life long dream fulfilled! We knew that we weren't going to be returning for a loooooong time so we wanted to pack in as much as we could! It was certainly the best holiday I have ever been on!
