So we're going to be where? At what time? November 2013 - Day 3 - Animal Kingdom and Photoshoot
Day 3 - Animal Kingdom and Photoshoot
I'd been looking forward to this day for over a year! I've had my eye on our wedding photographer for about 2 years, as she originally worked for Disney, but went freelance in August 2012 - well you should have seen me jump all over her! I was lucky enough to meet her in person when I went to Orlando in Ocotber 2012 for Emma's wedding and booked her there and then on the spot. Today was our engagement shoot day and I was bursting! Anyway back to the actual report I was up nice and early and gave the room a bit of a tidy up - Paul and I tend to spread when we get into a hotel room, and we had hair and makeup coming to the room later so didn't want the place to look like a tip! Sarah had decided she wanted a teenage sleep in morning so Paul, David and I were headed to Animal Kingdom - we had a fastpass for the first safari of the day. We stopped at the Pepper Market for breakfast as usual, and had my first benedict breakfast burrito, man they were good, I was a convert, but enormous! Paul and I took to sharing them as the trip went on. We got the bus to Animal Kingdom, and have to say we loved the Christmas tree in the courtyard outside the gates - the decorations were awesome! We were there before the park opened so we joined the shortest queue we could find and hung around for a bit. They opened the gates a little before 9, and we headed straight for the safari. We didn't do the safari in 2011 so we were quite looking forward to it, and it didn't disappoint! We saw so many animals! After we got off we had some time before our Everest fast pass so wandered through the trail, which was fantastic - loved the birds, gorillas and fish! When we were done with the walk the time was coming up for our Everest fast pass so we made our way that way When we got there the wait time was only 10 minutes so we went on once, then back around using our fast passes, such fun! The boys wanted to go again so I grabbed a coke and waited for them to come off. It was closing in on time for me to go, as I had to head back to the hotel for hair and make up, the boys headed over to Hollywood Studios as watching us get dolled up wasn't too high on their agenda. We parted ways and I made it back to the hotel in pretty good time. I got there just before 1, and proceeded to get clothes ready and bags packed - our shoot had a clothing and location change half way through so we needed to pack a full change for everyone. Beaute Speciale arrived right on time, two lovely ladies called Cindy and Jessica had come to do hair and makeup for Sarah and I. Cindy stayed with me in our room and Jessica went next door to the kids room with Sarah. Two hours later we were done! Paul and David came back about half an hour before we were finished and couldn't believe how long it took... oh well he'll have a lot to learn next year at the wedding! We were all done just on time, and legged it up to the lobby - we were catching a cab over to Port Orleans Riverside where we were meeting Regina, our amazing photographer She was waiting for us in the lobby when we arrived, it was so lovely to see her again! We not only did shots of Paul and I, but we did some with all 4 of us, the kids by themselves and some daddy-kid shots, I can't wait to get our disc back! After Port Orleans Riverside we went over to the Boardwalk - we'd done Riverside in Denim and your Fav Disney Top, Boardwalk was a bit more formal, dresses and heels And our amazing sneak peak that Regina emailed us! We are so pleased with the results so far, hopefully more in a couple of weeks! She was so sweet and drove us to the Contemporary for our reservation at the California Grill - we were really looking forward to this after such a wonderful meal Paul and I had there in 2011. We were a bit early so had a wander around the shops before heading to the desk to check in. Our buzzer went off pretty quickly and we were taken up to the restaurant in the lift. I have to say I'm a big fan of the new renovations, it felt very clean and modern which is right up my alley. My only critisim was that it was a bit loud, but that hasn't stopped us adding it to the plan for next year.. twice...! Continued... |

We were sat at what I officially think is the best table in the house - view of the MK right there from our table!
In 2011 I'd accidently ordered a glass of red zinfandel wine, thinking it was a white zinfandel... whoops! But it was amazing, and I'm not a red wine drinker at all. So we needed to order this again! We spoke to our server and he said the one we had last time may not be on the menu but gave us a few recommendations and some tasters - and we decided on this one It was beautiful, we both loved it so ordered the whole bottle! And drank it... Time for some food porn! I had the Dragon sushi to start Paul had a flatbread Sarah the duck and David the pork belly Everything was delicious! We all had the oak fired filet of beef for main... holy moly... And now for dessert - Sarah and David both had chocolate Paul had cheese and I had the lemon It was such an amazing meal and we loved every second of it! Being able to watch the fireworks from our table was amazing and we can't wait to get back here next year. We couldn't face the walk back to MK to get the bus so we grabbed a taxi back to the hotel, where I attempted to pull my hair extensions and all the pins out of my hair before crashing out in bed!
