Talking Squirrels and Sizzlers - Day 11 - The one that just wasn't meant to be

So, it's been an awfully long time since I have updated my trip report, shame on me! But a lot has happened since then! First and foremost...
I'M ENGAGED! ! ! ! Can you tell I'm excited and over the moon! He must have just got sick of me banging on about it and decided to shut me up haha. Here is my rock..

1940s Sapphire and diamond thank you very much! It's perfect, the boy did good! Even asked my dad's permission and everything!

Of course we considered a disney wedding but Ross has a large family and he wants them all there so it's just not doable but we are going on our Disneymoon! But before that we are doing 4days in Vegas and 2days in San Fran. Yes we are insane and we know they are at the other side of the country but we really don't care it's gonna be amazeballs! Bit of a wait though my high demands and unrealistic dreams mean that we have A LOT of saving to do so we have set a date of 1st October 2016 to give us time to get the money together for our (my) dream wedding and honeymoon. So far we have booked our venue which is Macdonald Linden Hall Hotel in Morepeth (just north of Newcastle), booked our band and I have chosen my dress so plans are coming along nicely! Thank god for Pinterest, that's all I can say!
There will be a slight hint of Disney at the wedding, and a little of Harry Potter too (Honeydukes inspired sweety table, yes please!) so it will definately represent us and what we love

Little Miss Ariana is 5 months old now and has had her first Christmas

We had a lovely Christmas together and Oliver loved it, he finally gets what it is all about and he had a ball opening all his presents!

Olivander also had his 3rd birthday last Sunday here he is with his Lightening McQueen cake. We had to relight the candles about 3 times because he wanted to blow them out over and over haha bless him!

In less exciting news, I got a new tattoo just after Christmas. Any fellow Potter nut will appriciate it! I got this design...

Except on two sides of the triangle I got the date me and Ross became a couple and the date we got engaged and I will be getting our wedding date on the bottom of the triangle. Unfortunately it didn't turn out as lovely as the one in that pic and needs a bit more work done to it to make it exactly how I want it which is why I dont want to post a pic of mine just yet but its still pretty darn awesome!

Oh and also, over new year we went down south to visit my Dad and Step Mum and pretty much made them take us to Kings Cross so I could go to Platform 9 3/4, best thing ever! Just a shame I didn't go through the wall but never mind!

Anyhooooo so you're probably thinking that you came here to read day 11 of my trip report, not my life story so I'll crack on shall I?!

So if my memory serves me right, I think we were supposed to be going shopping today so we had a little lie in and got up at about 8:30. The original plan was shopping today, Animal Kingdom and Jikos tomorrow then DTD and Magic Kingdom the day after. However, when I was waiting for Ross to get ready I was looking over the park hours and busy day guide and I realised I had made a mistake. I cannot remember what it was (possibly I had us going to a park on it’s busy day) but it meant rejigging the schedule. SO! The plan now was Animal Kingdom today, Magic Kingdom tomorrow and DTD the day after with a trip to the outlet in there somewhere as well. This was fine although it did mean we were running really behind for a park day!

We rushed over to Sizzlers at about 10 then got the iTrolley to SeaWorld, the Lynx 50 to TTC then got the bus to Animal Kingdom for midday. So annoying that it takes sooooo long to get to Disney when you don’t drive! We absolutely cannot wait until the honeymoon when we will be on Disney property!
Arriving at 12 meant we had lost 3 hours of precious park time and in my opinion Animal Kingdom is the most beautiful park and I had really wanted to spent the entire day here to give me the chance to just wander round and take pictures of pretty much everything! But instead we were very rushed and missed out on so much. Really regret switching days but never mind.

First things first we got a few photopass pics the headed straight to EE.

Now, I swore to Ross that all of our 'kissing' photos would remain in a secret folder on my computer and no body would ever see them BUT I think this is hilairious and demonstrates the power of Disney and their photopass photo borders... let me show you *Note-you are about to see a PDA, if they make you spew, scroll down quickly..now!*

Here is a delightful photo pf me and Ross having a cheeky snog, but oh no, there is a creepy little girl and a good look at us and being well nosey. Do not dispair! Just add a nifty little border and...

Whalah! Gone! Just Mowgli and Baloo instead. Genuis! Thanks Disney and you coincedental and handy placementment of characters on your photopass borders!

Moving on...where were we? Ah yes EE!

The standby queue was 25mins but we decided to join and only waited 15. I loved this ride it was brill! The disco yeti is hilair! Ross didn’t even see it, he’s as blind as a bat without his glasses on!

We loved it so much we came off and got straight back in the queue, this time we waited 10 mins. Spotted this cheeky HM in the queue..

Anybody else think that the voice over person sounds exactly like Raj from Big Bang? We were on the front this time, I pointed out where the disco yeti was boogying and he told me he saw it this time, then literally a few months ago he admitted to me that he never saw it! Bloody liar!

Walking towards Dinosaur land we spotted Russell and Dug. We LOVE Up, it’s a great film and Dug is just the funniest. Every time we saw a squirrel on this holiday (which was a lot) we would shout Squirrel! Just like Dug (hence the trippy title). When we met them Russell LOVED my autograph book, he showed everybody the picture of himself and Dug took a particular shine to Ross, he kept licking him and stroking him!

So glad we had been there a while and Ross was used to the character interaction. If this was our first day I reckon Ross would have been on the first bus back to the hotel! I just couldn’t stop laughing at them. Then he made Ross do a sexy pose for the photo...looking hot babe!

While we were there we went on ITTBAB which was a walk on. Seriously wanted to keep those glasses, very chic! I will admit I am one of the big girls who screams her head off during this!

From there we headed over to Dinoland USA.

We stopped to talk to one of the cast members who was standing with the resident croc whose name escapes me now! She asked if we knew the difference between gators and crocs, I had no idea and still don’t but Ross knew, he is very informed when it comes to animals, we do enjoy a good documentary on Nat Geo Wild! During this my battery ran out on my camera! MARE! Luckily I had the spare battery in the camera bag but that was only showing half life left! I’m usually snap happy but I had to restrain myself today.

Dinosaur was a 5 min wait. I remembered loving but also being terrified on this ride when I came last, the ride photo was so funny, all 5 of us girls that went on had a look of genuine and horrifying terror on our faces!
Unfortunately Ross decided that this ride was lame-o. Wasn’t as good as I remembered it but I still enjoyed it!

Ross' 'Oh I'm so scared' face

By now Ross was hungry (obviously) but he would have to wait, it was safari time! We waited 30mins, I got given one of the little red cards to take round which for some reason I decided it would be an awesome thing to have a photo of! Good job I did as I now realise that this is the only picture that shows my neato Disney nails! I did them all by myself, proud!

The safari was really great we saw loads of amazing animals. I do like the amount of room they have to roam about, it’s how every animal in captivity should be. I will only show you a very small selection of pics, I took loads! Horray for spare battery!

After the safari we walked round the trail and saw the hippo, the gorillas and the meerkats. I nearly missed the hippo! I was looking at all the fish then Ross pointed in out in the water! We also realised that the meerkats definitely aren’t as popular as they are in this country, they didn’t have much of a crowd! But they don’t have Alexsander and Sergei do they!

So nearly didn't even see it!

Now it was time to eat! We had planned to go to Flame Tree BBQ so Ross could have the ribs but there was nothing on their menu that took my fancy. I did tell Ross to get the ribs anyways and I would find something else but he wanted us to eat together bless him! So we went to Restaurantosaurus instead. I had a grilled chicken sandwich with fries and Ross had an angus bacon cheeseburger with fries, total including drinks was $27.

Food was nice, nothing to write home about but for the price is was good. Prior to travelling I had read ‘Hidden Magic of Walt Disney World’ cover to cover about 20 times so I pointed out a lot of little things in Restaurantosaurus to Ross who in turn pretended to listen and acted like he gave a monkeys.

FESTIVAL OF THE LION KING! Best. Thing. Ever. Oh... we were too late for the final show! Arrrgghhh! Never been so devastated in my life! I went on and on about this to Ross before we went to Florida and we never even got to see it! I blame my insistence of going to the safari before lunch instead of going back and forth to opposite ends of the park a million times. Humph.

Instead we ended the day by meeting Chip and Dale and the Donald Duck. We tried to join the queue for Pocahontas but they had closed the queue as she needed to go and feed Meeko and Flit soon...apparently!

It was now after 5 and the park was closing to we headed to the exit. We stopped to talk to one of the cast members about the giant ant eater she was feeding. They are some very strange things! Fascinating though, how they eat the ants. Unfortunately my spare battery was also done now and the little camera is less than useless so I didn’t manage to get any pics.

Quick pit stop at the gift shop on the way out to find a pressed penny machine for my Animal Kingdom pressed penny. We found one with a collection of bug pennies which I really didn’t want! But luckily Ross found one at the other side of the shop with a choice of the main characters in safari gear on which was much better! We also bought a towel for Oliver. We didn’t notice that the towel still had it’s security tag on until we got home and I have never gotten round to contacting Disney about it so it has never been used!

My notes tell me we got back to the hotel just after 6. We watched tv for a bit then saw that Toy Story was on next so we decided to get a take away pizza from Pizza Hut (again, I know!) and watch Toy Story in bed with a pizza. Best plan ever!
Ross got the usual wings and 12” meat lovers pizza and I got a 9” ham and pineapple which came to $35. Today was great money wise, we spent next to nothing! We took our pizza back to our room, watched Toy Story and some Big Bang Theory then sleepy time!
Although today was great, it was kind of a bust compared to the day I had originally planned for AK but never mind, shiz happens and you get over it but Festival of the Lion King better still be there when I go back or somebody will have hell to pay!

Thanks for reading! Lots and lots of pics today so thanks for powering through! Hopefully I will have the next day up soon.

Yay, another day! Sounds like a great day at Animal Kingdom (my favourite park) even if you were a little later in arriving than you would've liked. Love the Up pics. Looking forward to the next instalment.

Many congratulations to you both on your engagement!

We had a great time! It's certainly the most picturesque park and I wanted to wander round and take loads of pics but we just didn't have the time, or the camera battery life!

Thanks for congratulatory messages
