Update #3 - 55 days to go!

Can't believe it's only 55 days...and a few hours..! until we set off for NYC! 8 weeks will fly in before we know it... so onto our plans for Philadelphia!

On Friday 20th June, we'll head on the subway/AirTrain back to Newark Airport to pick up our AMAZING wheels for the next 11 days... a Jeep Cherokee Sport!

AAHHHHHH! Looks amazing!

We both intend to do a bit of driving, but Stuart is gonna take the reins and do the first journey...

Newark Airport --> Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson,NJ!
Estimated Journey Time: 56 minutes (57.85 miles)

SOOOOOO excited... I mean, have you seen Kingda Ka?

Looks amazing! We both love a roller-coaster, and this Six Flags is meant to be one of the best! We've already bought our tickets, Flash Passes and parking tickets, totally around £80 each I think, or was it £60? Sorry, can't remember!

After a fun-filled day of ups and downs, and upside-downs, we'll continue on our journey to our second home of the trip...Philadelphia!

Six Flags Great Adventure --> Philadelphia Hotel
Estimated Journey Time: 57 minutes (51.63 miles)

Neither of us have been to Philadelphia before, and tbh, neither of us know much about Phili, so really any help or recommendations would be great!

We're staying in the Sheraton Philadelphia Downtown Hotel...

We don't have much in the way of plans for Phili...
Our first night will most likely consist of dinner and drinks somewhere, once we've returned from Six Flags exhausted...

The following day we plan to visit Eastern State Penitentiary, which I believe is central enough that we can leave the car at the hotel and bus it/subway it there.

The prison looks really cool, and even once housed a fancy posh room for Al Capone!

The prison tour is narrated by actor, Steve Buscemi, so I think we'll just pick up some headphones and make our way around. We still need to advance book the tickets for this, but pay day is just around the corner so we'll probs do that next week, nothing like being prepared!

We plan to spend the afternoon just touring around Phili, again any recommendations for must-sees?
We want to go see Love Park:

and we also fancy visiting The Franklin Fountain for some afternoon snacks/ice cream... AS SEEN ON Man Vs Food!

Evening's antics will be dinner and a fairly early one so we can get an early start to head to... WASHINGTON D.C.

Next instalment with D.C and Raleigh plans comings soon!

Update #4 - Washington D.C. and Raleigh, NC

OK, so after doing a bit of research (not too much mind you!) into getting to Washington DC, it seems like you are best to go first thing in the morning, or last thing at night.
On that note, we DO NOT want to waste any time this holiday, so it's looking like an early rise for us!

Hopefully up and out the door for maybe 8am?

Philadelphia Hotel --> Washington D.C. Hotel
Estimated Journey Time: 2 hours 21 minutes (136.07 miles)

I think we are planning to drive to Washington D.C. via Baltimore. Has anyone been there before? Any recommendations on eateries or things to do for the short time we are there?

Then it's off to D.C.!

We are staying in Holiday Inn Washington DC-Central/White House, so I'm guessing it will be pretty central for us to get to local attractions!

Our plans for D.C. are, again, pretty sparse! So we really need some recommendations for food and drinks!
We are probably gonna do the touristy stuff when we are here, but even then, it would be good to hear what others have done and how they've done it!

Our only must-do for Washington is the National Museum of Crime & Punishment! SOOO excited for this!

We are going to buy tickets for TOP DETECTIVE CHALLENGE W/ GENERAL ADMISSION

This ticket includes the the Top Detective Challenge as well as general admission. "Answer questions, collect clues, and locate the missing medallion. This interactive workbook comes with a souvenir pen and a prize. Great for all ages." Right up my street!

We'll probably do this on the Monday morning/afternoon in our first full day in Washington.

On Tuesday 24th June (marking a week in the USA already! ), we'll be setting off for Raleigh, NC, which is really just a stop over between D.C. and Myrtle Beach.

Washington D.C. Hotel --> Raleigh, NC Hotel (LONGEST JOURNEY OF THE TRIP!)
Estimated Journey Time: 4 hours 16 minutes (269.41 miles)

We will be staying in Comfort Inn & Suites Crabtree Valley (Raleigh, NC). Pretty basic, but all we need for 1 night.

This will be our first chilled night. We won't be drinking as we are driving in the morning, so we'll probably just have a look around town before heading out for dinner at... The Pit! As seen on Man Vs Food... can't wait for this one!

Then, we might head over to one of the first Krispy Kreme's for dessert before 10pm, then off to bed for an early start on our way to SOUTH Carolina, Myrtle Beach, and FINALLY getting to see KK, Stuart's sister!

Update #5 - Myrtle Beach, SC and Savannaahh, GA

We plan to get up early on 25th June as we have a longish drive to Myrtle Beach, via Fayetteville. We will probably stop for breakfast somewhere on the road.

Raleigh Hotel --> Myrtle Beach Hotel
Estimated Journey Time: 3 hours 10 minutes (190.57 miles)

In Myrtle Beach, we are staying in Westgate Myrtle Beach Oceanfront Resort:

Our plans for Myrtle Beach... not very much at all!

This is where we are meeting Stuart's Sister, Karen, who has been here since the start of March, working in another hotel. We plan to see her in the evenings that she is not working, and go for dinner and drinks, and during the day, we plan to just wander around, see the sights/tourist attractions, play some mini golf, and just generally relax.

It would be good to hear from anyone that has been to Myrtle Beach with what they got up to and anything in particular they would recommend?

We might go for a day trip into Charlotte, NC, but this is about 3 hours away, so we might just skip this. Unless Charlotte is a must see?

Anyway, we have 2 nights in Myrtle Beach and then the 3 of us (Karen too!) are heading to Savannah, Georgia via Charleston, NC.

Myrtle Beach Hotel --> Savannah Hotel
Estimated Journey Time: 4 hours (210.65 miles)

Charleston looks lovely...

But then again... so does Savannah!

We've seen some lovely places to eat in Savannah, but as we are only here one night, we've got limited time, so it would be good to hear if anyone has any particular recommendations for eateries or drinks?

I also quite fancy doing the hearse ghost tour!

In Savannah, we are staying in Hampton Inn & Suites Savannah Midtown:

One night here and then we are up early and finally off to ORLANDO!

Just found out that FALL OUT BOY are playing on the Today Show in NYC as part of the Concert Series on our last day in New York!

This would mean a very early rise (like 4.30/5am) to be in with a chance of getting into the Today Plaza! Does anyone have any experience of this?

I really fancy doing it, but this is the day that we leave NYC and had planned to be on the road early to get to an all day sesh at Six Flags. Six Flags is open until 9/10pm though, so part of me thinks we should just go for it?

What do you all think?

There's tonnes of bars in Savannah so you won't be stuck but Congress Street probably has most, food wise I can recommend a superb steak and seafood place called Belfords which was as good as anywhere I've eaten.

Just found this pre-trippy and I love it! Sounds like an amazing road trip! Don't really have any advice as I have only been to NYC and Orlando out of the places you have mentioned lol, but I really like the sound of it all. Look forward to your trippy.
Not long until you will be off
