Will defo keep you all updated and let you know how we get on, when we do our trip report when we get back

Just about to book some touristy stuff in DC, so will do another updates once that's done

Myrtle Beach has lots to do, if you are looking for a day trip, heading south is Brookgreen Gardens, across the road is Huntingdon Beach State Park and lunch at either Murrels Inlet or Pawleys Island is a nice day out. Or Heading north, Southport is a nice little town just over the border in North Carolina, they have a car ferry to take you to Fort Fisher, where there is a neat aquarium, civil war museum, beaches etc.. These are nice places to get away too, if you tire of the Myrtle Beach water parks, restaurants, shopping, golf, water sports etc.. Breakfast at the House of Blues is neat or at Sea Captains House looking over the ocean. PS. I worked in Myrtle Beach for a few months back in 1993, found my soul mate and moved here in 1996 I am sure you will have a blast!

Amazing! So cute that you met in MB, and are now back there! Must admit that although we are only really going to meet Karen (Stuart's Sister), I can't wait to just chill out and be in a lovely place for a few days in the middle of our busy holiday.

Will check out a few of the things you have mentioned there, as I think after a day chilling, we will defo want to do something the following day before we head off to Savannah!

Thanks for all the tips

P.S. 5 weeks tomorrow!

Update #6 - Home to Orlando, then (real) Home to UK

We plan to get up pretty early on Saturday 28th June and get in our JEEP and head down to Orlando - THE LONGEST journey of our trip, but we intend to visit (or at least go via) Jacksonville, St. Augustine and Dayton Beach on the way. Or should we avoid these? Any recommendations?

Savannah Hotel --> Orlando Hotel!
Estimated Journey Time: 4 hours 48 minutes (289.51 miles)

A LONNNNNNNNG JOURNEY! But with a few stops on the way, I'm sure we'll be fine, and ready to chill out/shop/eat/drink when we arrive in Orlando.

Not sure what we'll do on our first night, but as we are staying very close to Universal, we might swing over to CityWalk for dinner/drinks and maybe a round of golf? Something we missed last time

We are staying at the Best Western Orlando Gateway Hotel, where our park tickets (2 park 2 day!) tickets were included in the (very low) price! We know the hotel will be far from outstanding, but for the amount of time we will spend in it, that's fine for us

Our next full day in Orlando, will defo be a Universal Studios/Islands of Adventure park day! Do you think the Harry Potter expansion will be open yet?

And we'll defo be visiting some malls at somepoint too. Mall of Millenia and Florida Mall are favourites of ours!

Our next day is Karen's last day with us, and we'll be dropping her off at Orlando International early afternoon for her to catch her flight back to Myrtle Beach.

Then it's our last night on holiday

We plan to go out for a nice meal, maybe a couple of drinks, then an early night before our travel home the next day.

The next morning (Tuesday 1st July), we fly via Chicago O'Hare, back to Edinburgh, arriving Wednesday 2nd July, and back to normality...

So that's it for our itinerary updates, the next update I plan to do it on MUST DO FOODS AND SNACKS!

Your Orlando plans sound great!

There are rumours that the HP expansion will open very soon so you might be in luck

I know! I found an article today that said there was a 95% chance it would be open by end of June...however, my concern is how BUSY Universal/IOA will be!
I know it will be busy regardless, but oh well, just means a VERY early rise to get into HP! AND we have early entry with our hotel, so fingers crossed!

Sounds fantastic! We'll be arriving in New York on the 17th June too, on our way back from Orlando and the Gulf Coast, but we're doing it the traditional way, by plane! Have a great time.

Yeah I expect it will be busy but you will be in a better position than a lot of people with your early entry will look forward to hearing about it.
