Epcot Food & Wine Festival - Refreshment Port

Epcot Food & Wine Festival - Refreshment Port

When it comes to the Deluxe Disney Dining Plan at the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival, you can use one snack credit where the symbol is displayed. You can also use one meal credit to purchase 3 snack items in one transaction.

From the Refreshment Port, we bought a Cronut ($4.99) – a croissant/doughnut hybrid that everyone seemed to be raving on about. We bought this with a snack credit. It was nice enough – it’s just a lighter textured doughnut really!

If like us, you wondered where/what Patagonia is, according to Wiki... Patagonia is a region encompassing the vast southernmost tip of South America, shared by Argentina and Chile, with the Andes Mountains as its dividing line.

We used 1 meal credit to buy our dishes from Patagonia.

Beef Empananda$4.75

Grilled Beef Skewer – with Chimichurri Sauce and Boniato Purée – $5.50

Roasted Verlasso® Salmon – with Quinoa Salad and Arugula Chimichurri – $5.50

Next up was New Zealand, where we also paid using snack credits. If you're wondering why were are paying some with a meal credit, and some with snacks, it would seem that not all booths got the memo about you being able to do that, so we just did the easiest thing, which was do what they wanted...

Steamed Green Lip Mussels with Garlic Butter and Toasted Breadcrumbs - $3.75

Lamb Meatball with Spicy Tomato Chutney - $5.25

Seared Venison Loin with Wild Mushroom Marsala Sauce and Kumara Dumpling - $6.00

I remember the grilled lamb chop from last year, yummy. So many fab ideas, you deserve a medal. Thank you so much for sharing. Its frightening how much the meals would cost if it was all OOP though isn't it. The tips were big enough lol.

Yachtsman Steakhouse

Yachtsman Steakhouse

When it comes to the Deluxe Disney Dining Plan at a signature restaurant you are entitled to one appetizer, one entrée, one dessert and one non-alcoholic beverage per person (usually refillable) for two credits per person.

We dined here in 2014, and enjoyed it so much we decided to come back again. As with all signature restaurants at Walt Disney World, we started with a basket of bread, which at Yachtsman's is delicious, soft, warm onion rolls - they are amazing! The come with a pat of butter and a bulb of roasted garlic. Divine! We may have asked for another basket...!

Appetizers…

Me: Charcuterie Board - Ibérico De Bellota / Chorizo / Pork Liverwurst Toast / Rabbit ($18)

My appetizer was quite the spectacle! Served on a wooden board, and with a card telling me what everything was. This is always very helpful when getting a charcuterie or cheese plate at Disney restaurants, because the servers sometimes forget to tell you - or they tell you, and don't leave a card, then you forget! Since Steve and I are quite the foodie couple, we enjoy little bites like this, and reading about them, so here they all are:

Rabbit Sausage - This is a fresh sausage made out of a farce of rabbit, sweetbreads, and pistachio. It has notes of clove coriander and grains of paradise. It is accompanied by cherry-oxtail marmalade.

Ibérico de Bellota - The Ibérico pig, commonly known as "pata negra" (or "black hoof"), is the direct descendant of the wild boars who roamed long ago across the Mediterranean. They are bred on the Iberian Peninsula, in the Dehesa, a forest full of oak trees, herbs, and leguminous plants, the perfect habitat for the Ibérico pig. This acorn-fed free-range ham is purley fed on acorns from September to February; they are then aged for 4 years during the curing process.

Chicken Rillettes - A confit of smoked chicken leg, preserved in duck fat. Rich and creamy in texture with a true smoke essence.

Pork Liverwurst Toast - House-made German-style pork liverwurst. We make the pâté with pork livers, smoked bacon, and fatback. It is accented by notes of coriander, cardamom, and ginger. Served over rye bread and garnished with arugula, pickled onions, and parmesan.

Spanish-Style Chorizo - This smoked chorizo, made rustic with larger cuts of Kurobuta pork shoulder, is reminiscent of the types of charcuterie found in the countryside of Spain. this sausage is heavily spiced with pimentón, garlic, and cumin. It is paired with grain mustard.

Served with our House-made bread & butter pickles.

Him: Pork Belly and Clams - Serrano Pepper / Lotus Root / Ginger / Black Bean Garlic Sauce ($19)

The Boy: Four-Cheese Ravioli - Marinated Artichokes / Beef Bolognese / Pistachio Pesto ($16)

Entrées…

Me & Him: 32oz Porterhouse for Two - 21 Day Dry-Aged / Trio of Steakhouse Sides / Beef Fat Potatoes / Garlic Butter ($119)

Steve and I shared this last year, and since we are at a steakhouse, it made sense to have it again! I'm not actually a fan of the sides - they just don't taste right in my mouth for some reason, so I ordered a side of macaroni cheese (which we paid for out of pocket) to go with it instead. After the mac 'n' cheese at Jiko a few days ago, I was on a quest to find the best one at Walt Disney World! I told the server about this, and he said that theirs was the best! (*whispers* It isn't!)

The Boy: 12oz Prime New York Strip Steak - Potato Gratin / Peppercorn-Brandy Sauce ($49)

Liam substituted the potato gratin for fries, as you can see in the photo below. He asked for the sauce on the side, so that I could pinch it - I love peppercorn sauce on steak!

Extras...

Truffle Macaroni & Cheese - Orecchiette Pasta / Reypenaer ($12)

Desserts…

Me: Chocolate-Peanut Cake - Pretzels / Salted Caramel Gelato ($12)

Him: Heirloom Apple Tart - Cranberry Sour Cream Ice Cream / Almond Crunch ($12)

The Boy: The Yachtsman Sundae - Trio of Gelato / Amarena Cherries ($10)

*************************************

Yachtsman Steakhouse

Bill Total: $282.84 (6 Credits) {Tip: $50}
DxDDP Running Totals: Bill: $3,024.72 | Credits: 91/126 | Tips: $435.68

*************************************

After a very good meal, we made our way back home to Wilderness Lodge - sitting in the lobby as always for a while, before heading up to our room.

Dining for the final three days our trip include:
  • Breakfast at Roaring Fork
  • Dinner at Hollywood Brown Derby
  • Breakfast at Tusker House
  • Dinner at Narcoosee's
  • Lunch at Tony's Town Square

I hope to get these written up before we go on holiday back to Walt Disney World this year (just a few days now - eek!) but if I don't, I promise they will be the first thing I do when we are back home!
