Mission 0 credits complete! Sept 2014 Dining Report (Onsite/Offsite) **COMPLETE**

Hi,

This is my first dedicated dining report but I always enjoy reading others so much I thought i'd have a go.

It will be a mixture of onsite & offsite eating as we hotel hopped quite a bit during our trip. The first part will be from when we spent 7 nights at Disney SSR with the DDP. We somehow managed to use all of our credits which was surprising as I really thought we'd struggle. We did spend a few snack credits on gifts in the end but that was just bad planning - we saved some when really we should have used them on stuff we paid cash for at the F&W festival. Nevermind, lesson learnt for next time.

After this there will be 4 nights on International drive & 3 nights at Universal onsite.

I will be including both food & cocktails so the below list may look huge but some places we just stopped for drinks.

Hope you enjoy!

Pre-Travel day breakfast & snacks on way down to airport hotel

In the interest of being thorough I thought I would include what we ate for breakfast before we set off for the airport hotel on pre-travel day.

Whilst I sorted on-line check in and finished final bits and bobs Andy cooked us a good breakfast to keep us going until later - A bacon and egg toasted sandwich each. Mine had brown sauce & his had ketchup.

It was very nice indeed. Only complaint was that we had run out of normal HP sauce so I had to use Andy's dad's Guinness version. It had a funny tinge to it but nothing awful.

We set off a few hours after this. On the journey down Andy stopped to get fuel. We picked up some snacks to eat on arrival as we were peckish.

All was tasty - as to be expected.

We had a couple of cheeky drinks (Malibu's for me, cider for Andy) before heading down for dinner.

Pre-Travel dinner at Thyme Premier Inn

When we checked into the hotel we purchased the meal deal offer. It cost £22.99 each for a 2 course evening meal with drink and breakfast buffet the next day. There are very few exclusions on the menu so this seemed like a good deal.

We decided that Andy would have a starter and that I would get dessert - we shared both of these so it was like a smaller 3 course meal each.

To start we had the Breaded garlic & herb mushrooms with dip & coleslaw.

The mushrooms were lovely, garlicky & crisp but the coleslaw was just a pile of super dried out veg. No dressing on it at all.

N.B this picture was borrowed from Google images as we just dug in. I never thought about taking a picture until it was too late. Sorry it doesn't happen again (I dont think). Our coleslaw was much much drier than this one.

For main I had Chicken salsa burger - chicken breast in crispy seasoned breadcrumb coating with salsa and mayonnaise.

It was OK - a bit bland and got a bit samey towards the end of eating it. I expected the seasoned breadcrumbs to add more flavour than they did. This also came with the dry "coleslaw" which you can see in the second picture.

Andy opted for Mixed grill with rump steak, chicken breast, gammon steak, premium pork sausage and a fried egg served with chips, mushrooms, grilled tomato & green beans(?)

Again nice enough but nothing wowing.

For dessert we shared the Choc-o-lot delight Sundae. It's described as "Smooth and creamy chocolate and vanilla pod ice creams with chocolate brownie squares, chocolate sprinkles and swirls of chocolate flavour fudge sauce, topped with a whip of cream, chocolate flakes and curled wafers."

We didn't think it would be too full on as we were sharing a portion for one but when it came out it was massive! The pictures don't do it justice. I had to ask the server and double check we weren't served the bigger sized portion for 2 - but no, this is meant for just one! It had about 15 pieces of brownie in it. The single serving could easily serve 2 plus, so I can imagine the sharing version would serve about 4.

It was amazingly chocolatey though! I loved the bits of brownie & whipped cream. Andy mostly ate the ice cream & a few brownies but even still there was quite a bit left.

We got a drink included and both just had lemonade.

We didn't get a copy of the bill as there was nothing to pay but I have estimated the meal would have cost £42.00 with soft drinks so to get the evening meal and breakfast included for £45.98 for both it was a great deal meaning breakfast was about £1.99 each. If we would have opted for alcoholic drinks too even more so. If we had paid full price I wouldn't have been overly pleased as I don't think the food was worth £40+.

Our server was really good so we made sure to leave her a tip as we left. As a side note - they usually offer to book you a table in the restaurant at check-in and I recommend that you do as it gets really busy.

Thanks for reading.
