thyme at Premier Inn, Gatwick North

Tuesday 11 November

Waited in the bar for 20 minutes for a table. Bar was pricey, £10 ish for a glass of Rose wine and a Cider.

Service in restaurant very friendly and efficient even though the place was packed out. Very impressed. Large menu , including a load of new burgers.

I went for the lasagne with salad, trying hard to be a bit healthy before the impending food fest. £10.25

Andy went for Full House Burger £13.20

And took advantage of their 3 for £3.30 deal which was ridiculous value for the wings, just a shame I don't like wings ! Yep, 3 side portions of wings for 3.30!

Total for Dinner was £26.75

We passed on dessert but I did get these mini cakes ( orange and cranberry for me, salted caramel for Andy)

from the costa coffee and I got a hot chocolate to take up to the room. I also picked up a bag of mini shortbreads to have with my early morning coffee. I think the total for that lot was £11 ish.

A great start , let the food fest commence.

Aspire Lounge Gatwick

Wednesday 12 November

Breakfast Aspire Lounge Gatwick

premier inn did have a good meal deal offer on that included breakfast but we had aspire Lounge passes with one free entry left so decided we would try that out instead.

It was busy so a bit tricky to take pics.
The main hot offering is bacon rolls

A few of these were duly consumed.
They also had pastries, croissants, fruit, cereals and yoghurt as well as hot and cold drinks.

Just as we were leaving at 1030 the lunch snacks of cheese and biscuits were being put out.

Lunch BA world Traveller

We enjoyed all of it. The side salad was nice, the chicken tikka was quite tasty and the chocolate dessert was layered and not over sweet. We were quite impressed.

The afternoon snack was nice too

Great start Amanda. Although not the best of food, we found thyme to be great value and would definitely use again. Service was very good. We also had the same meal flying out with BA. The orzo salad was lovely (I ate 2!) and the chicken tikka was tasty and a gorgeous desert. Shame the same can't be said for the return leg! Can't wait to read about the rest and many congratulations to you.

Zebra bar, Rosen Inn

Dinner was due to be at Millers but we were so tired after a walk round Pointe Orlando and all the places there looked so busy that we gave up on the idea of a big meal

Instead we just had a couple of sides from the zebra sports bar at the hotel

Andy ordered 10 spicy wings for $9

As you can see he was keen to get started

I ordered the loaded fries for $6.75 but when they arrived it was just plain fries .

Never mind, they were probably just as well as by now I was feeling queasy with tiredness so maybe all that cheese would have been a bad idea. We were only charged for plain fries .

I can't believe I took a photo of a plate of chips

Hi Cheryl, yes we quite enjoyed our lunch . Coming home it was ok but then I was airsick , not sure if the turbulence or the cottage pie was to blame !

Our meals at thyme were both really good,we were quite surprised.

Perkins I Drive breakfast

Thursday 13 November

This was our breakfast destination. This was just a little way down I Drive from the hotel.

It was incredibly quiet , possibly as we were early on a weekday. Nothing like when we come in a August when everywhere seems busy all the time.

Lovely server who soon had had sorted with coffee and orange juice. $2.99 for a coffee and $.99c for the juice

I had the Brioche toast breakfast with scrambled egg and sausages $8.99

Andy went for the steak and mushroom omelette $9.99

Total was $26.16 before the tip.

It was all delicious !
