:) Another Dose of Disney Dreams August 2016 - Day 12 - Epcot, Disney Springs,D-Luxe Burger & Sprinkles

INDEX
Previous day - here

Tuesday 16th August

Scott and I got up just after 7am and we had our coffee out on the landing, the kids were still fast asleep bless em. We’d had such a fab anniversary. We weren’t in any kind of rush so no set plans apart from we’d be popping over to Epcot for a while.

It was a beautiful day and eventually we all set off after having some breakfast in our room. I’d forgotten that Jamie had taken his Nemo cupcake back home so he tucked into that whilst the rest of us ate a mixture of cereal, muffins and breakfast pastries!

We arrived at Epcot around 10 so not bad at all. We could tell it wasn’t busy as we were still parked in Journey. We looked to see what the time was for Test Track and couldn’t believe it was 2 hours, we managed to get a return time which meant we could go back any time after 12.15.

Whilst in the area we checked out Mission Space, no wait what so ever so thought why not. The boys wanted to go on the orange version, no chance of that happening with me so we took our places in the green version.

Proud to be green!

I do like this ride but it does send me a little dizzy. Poppy had worked out which role I had to undertake and had given me strict instructions to undertake my role seriously! I know this was a little naughty of me but whilst in there I helped myself to a couple of the sick bags, thought they might come in handy for our return flight.

The boys queue was a little longer than ours so it gave Poppy a chance to have a play. We also tried to figure out how to play the large screen game but had no real look doing so lol.

Used our first fast pass of the day which was for Soarin, it was just as brilliant again. Between us we decided to have a walk around World Showcase and have more of a look in some of the countries. We started our tour in Canada.

Now we’ve never seen the Canadian film so thought why not, let’s go and see it. The screen in 360 degrees which did make me feel a bit whoozy, we did find it quite interesting. I like to song to this too.

We came out and guess what, the floor was wet it looked like it had been raining – escaped it yet again! Poppy picked up a Duffy bear (I did too) and we made a start on colouring it in and we got our first stamp from Canada.

Of course the next country to visit was United Kingdom. Looked a little bit different from the UK I’m used to seeing as the sun was shining.

We went to get Poppy’s Duffy bear stamped and who should we bump into but Mary Poppins. She looked a little lonely there all by herself so I suggested we went over to say hi. She was very pleased to see us and chatted away to Poppy for a while (there was nobody else there).

Practically perfect!
Afterwards we took a look around the little Twinings Tea Shop - how charming is this place. Couldn’t help but look at the goodies in there and I soon spotted my all time favourite sweets. I didn’t buy any though not at those prices .

I did see quite a few cute teapots too and I pondered for a while as to whether or not I needed one.

Teapot for one…just right for size me

The time was getting on a bit now and the kids had pointed out that it had been a while since breakfast so we bypassed France and carried on to Morocco for a spot of lunch. We’d never eaten here before and originally I’d booked an ADR at the full service restaurant, but after looking at the menu of the Tangerine Café we thought the menu there sounded equally as good.

When we walked in it was really busy but the line kept moving and we made our order. There wasn’t any seating available here but lots outside where we managed to find a table in a nice spot looking out to World Showcase.

Scott and I weren’t particularly hungry so we got 3 quick service meals to share between the 5 of us and there was more than plenty. I asked for some extra plates and cups so we could divide it all up.

I can’t remember what the meals were exactly, I’m sure one was some kind of platter and another a kebab dish? Anyway they were all delicious and probably one of the best quick meals we had.

This meal got the thumbs up from Poppy

This cheeky little rascal kept running by, think someone on another table had given him a few fries!

The meal was finished off with one of my favourites, Baklava

Hayden isn’t keen on Baklava so we said we would pop over to France to look for a dessert for him there. I was sure they’d have some macarons which Hayden absolutely adores.

Before then we took the opportunity to have a little wander about Morocco, I really like the little shops here and the bazaar.

More outside seating round the back

The sky had started to get a lot darker, next thing we knew it started to rain, nothing really heavy but thought it best to have a look inside for a while.

Poppy continued getting the stamps for her Duffy bear, I’d been surprised how each table had been really quiet.

Morocco finished for the time being we took the short walk back through to France to have a look for something for Hayden as now the rain had changed to a fine drizzle.

We weren’t really sure what was where, I suppose it help if you know what you’re looking for, and we ended up in the Quick service restaurant. It was so busy in there and it put Hayden off a bit, I told him not to worry and we’d find something soon.

Couldn’t help but have a little look at the items in here as we walked back through and we really loved all the Beauty and the Beast items. I would so love the Cogsworth clock but I’m not sure how we’d get him home? In the end I bought a couple of the plates which were around the $16 mark each. The plates were heavy too so I had them sent back to our resort to save on carrying around with us.

Also looked in the perfume shop, didn’t buy anything but Poppy and me had a few squirts of some perfumes.

As we left the shop a photo pass man was there and asked if we wanted our photo’s taken. Not one to pass up a family photo we happily obliged. Said he had a fish eye lens on, I quite like this photo as it’s a little bit different.

Once we’d finished looking in here Hayden noticed the L’Artisan des Glaces shop, we must have walked straight past this place. Never mind Scott took Hayden in to go and get himself a snack.

No surprise that Hayden had a Macaron ice cream sandwich which was a snack credit. It wasn't particularly big but Hayden said it was awesome!

The sun had come back out so we walked on over to Test Track to use our return pass but we could hear thunders in the background.

Test Track was still running so we joined the queue and soon we were in the area where you design your car. That was as far as we managed to go, the ride had now stopped. We were told we could wait the bad weather out and stay put, which we did do for about half a hour. More and more people were leaving and whilst the kids wanted to stay I said it’s probably best if we just give up the waiting.

A CM escorted us out through a fire exit where it was now pouring down with rain, think we’d made the right decision to leave!

Carefully we ran over to Mouse Gear to take shelter and also do a bit more shopping. We’d hardly been using any of our snack credits so we got quite a few bags of sweets with them. I also bought some new Mickey oven gloves.

We knew we couldn’t stay in there all day so took the plunge and walked back to our car. We were going straight back to Port Orleans Riverside so it hardly mattered that we’d be soaked through.
Mine you we did get the tram back to the parking lot, how lazy were we lol.

The rain had died down a lot by the time we’d got back so we went to check the pools out but they were all closed.

I took some washing down to the launderette and got on with that whilst everyone else got on with showering and changing. It was nice to have a bit of a lazy afternoon.

All ready and out of our room for 6pm, the rain had stopped so we walked down to the boat dock.

I said to Scott that I didn’t think they were running and sure enough as we got closer, what looked like one the captains came over and told us the boat service wasn’t operating. What a shame.

Headed over to the bus depot, something we had rarely done before. Thankfully a bus for Disney Springs soon arrived and we were on our way down there again for our dinner.

We’d not really got our bearings for this place yet so we got a little lost as we tried to fathom out how to get to the new quick service restaurants here.

Not sure how but we finally ended up at one of them, the D-luxe Burger. Said we’d give this place a go as you can’t really pass up having a good American burger and I’d remembered seeing a good review of it on the Disney Food Blog.

We found a seat inside it was pretty quiet in there. What we didn’t realise until later was there were lots of outside seating which looked out onto the new waterfront.

After we ordered our food we helped ourselves to our drinks and also some sauces and condiments. What we didn’t realise is our burgers also came with lots of little pots of sauces so we had loads of them. Thankfully we love ketchup

Getting all cosy by the fire…just what you need in August!

Our food didn’t take long to come out, from memory I’m sure Poppy had a kid’s burger and fries as it was just a plain one. Hayden had a chicken burger, Scott some kids of Spicy one and Jamie and me a classic burgers.

They were all super delicious, juicy and mega big too. Think they came with a drink on the QS and either fries or a dessert, which was only a macaroon burger type thing. We just picked up 2 of these as they looked really sweet and sickly, not my cup of tea really but the boys wanted to have one and got 3 lots of fries. Poppy and me said we’d picked up a cupcake form Sprinkles later.

Dessert Macaroon

Poppy needed the rest room afterwards and this was when we noticed the big seating area. It did have lovely views which were all new to us.

Somehow we stumbled across Sprinkles much to the delight of Jamie but we were told that the ATM was out of use at the moment. The kids really wanted to see how it worked but the lady assured us it was just being restocked and would be back in action in a little while.

So we carried on with our walk around Disney Springs where we came across a photo pass photographer, he too had a fish-eye lens.

Soon we reached familiar ground, our little walk round the new part of Disney Springs ended up near to the Lego Store, course we had to have a look in here as it’s one of Hayden’s favourite places here. Both Jamie and Hayden got themselves a new Star Wars set each.

I’d remembered to bring some ID out with me so I could pick up the $200 voucher from the Disney Store. Not sure if it was me but this shop looked bigger than before?

With a $200 gift voucher in my hand we set about the task of spending it, not really hard when you’re in a massive Disney Store. I got a couple of new key rings and finally one of those cute Chip mugs. The kids were eyeing up the soft toys and after a lot of consideration chose a Stitch toy each – thankfully not one of those massive ones which are probably as big as Poppy!

Shopping for the moment all done we sat outside and listened to a country and western band that was playing. I know that’s there’s normally music on the stage but apparently there was more celebrations happening this week what with more places just opening in Disney Springs. We were slightly distracted though by the volcano going off over in the distance, it was really loud.

Poppy then reminded me that we’d not had our cupcakes! How could I forget so we headed back through Disney Springs.

Actually found the place quite easily which did surprise us as were all quite rubbish with directions. There was a small queue there but at least the ATM was open. I know we could’ve just gone inside and bought the cupcakes but the kids were curious to see how it all worked

Of course it’s just like any other ATM, put your card in and make your selection. We took a little while deciding which cupcakes to get, of course I had no real say in which one I’d be having!

Decision decision…

Waiting patiently…your purchase is on its way!

Yay they’re here

I think Poppy had some kind of coconut flavour whereas mine was a funfetti type cupcake? I’m not really sure but they cost around $5-$6 dollars each. Scott was like what how much for a bloomin bun! I told him it’s the experience you’re paying for haha.

Still they were very tasty but not particularly big, I wouldn’t rush back for another but the kids had loved the novelty of going there. You know what kids are like.

Called it a night after our cupcakes, we walked across the new bridge which was quite handy as it saved you from wading through all the crowds. The volcano was still blowing off

Arrived at the boat dock and was happy to see that they were running. We so enjoy catching boat to and from Disney Springs and find it a really relaxing,i love the music that's played on board

As we sailed across we could see some fireworks in the distance, must’ve been the Star Wars ones as it was around 9.30. Soon we were back at Port Orleans Riverside which looks even prettier at night.

Back in our room we caught up a little with the Olympics and saw that team GB were second in the medal table, how amazing.

We were in bed for 10.30 but we were in need of a fairly early night. Today had been quite relaxed and it was nice not to be tied to any ADR’s and just go with the flow.

Tomorrow would be another quiet one as we’ll be going to our first water park.

Thanks for reading

What a lovely paced day. Your lunch in morocco looked yummy. I'm looking forward to seeing new part of Disney Springs but have a soft spot for the original DTD I must admit. Not sure we'll bother with Sprinkles. Burgers looked good though.

Can't wait to try sprinkles and so nice to read a good review doe d'luxe!

They've extended the Disney store at the back where you get your vouchers from, it clearly wasn't big enough

You did so well with the weather particularly for August. Sounds like a lovely day round the world xx
