Another Dose of Disney Dreams August 2016 - Day 25 - Leaving the Disney Dream & travelling home
INDEX
Previous day - here Monday 29th August You'll be pleased to know I'm keeping this day short and sweet As soon as I woke up I could tell that the ship wasn’t moving. It was an early start for us and as I checked my phone for the time which was 6.15am I knew that we’d have to make a move soon. I started to get a wash etc and so did Scott. I hoped with all the moving around and noise that the kids would wake up but they did. An announcement was made at about 7am saying that the ship had been cleared by immigration and you were able to leave the ship now. This woke Jamie and Hayden up but Poppy was still fast asleep, eventually I had to gently wake her up. After we'd finished getting up and with the final last bits of packing we checked the room and then left for breakfast up in Cabanas. We knew that the food would be more limited with the choice but there was still plenty of choice available. Unfortunately no Mickey waffles though It was busy in there we had to sit outside to eat our breakfast which was fine as it was a lovely morning, our view was a lot different from yesterday though. Left the ship then and joined the long line for customs/immigration. It soon went down though. Walked over to the car we didn’t need help with our cases then packed them away in our car. Just as we left it started to rain somehow that made me feel better about leaving. Filled the car up with some more petrol then set off down to Miami. We had a few showers along the way and around half way down we stopped off for a toilet break at a Mc Donalds and picked up some food for the kids while we were there. The rest of the drive was uneventful and we eventually reached the airport. We didn’t experience and traffic at all so arrived in plenty of time for our flight. Dropped the car off then made our way back over to departures, before we knew it we were checking in. Lucky for us it was very quiet with no line! Now I’d weighed the big cases when I’d packed them last week but there must have been a problem with our digital scales as one of the cases was 29kgs! I was quite shocked with that as I could easily lift the case! One of our bags only weighed 16kg’s but it was stuffed full so we couldn’t really transfer stuff. We had no choice but to go to the side and empty things out of our case…the shame of it! The lady on check in had suggested to just put some of our things in hand luggage as BA’s hand luggage weight is generous so that’s what we ended up doing. Finally sorted we finally checked all our cases in and went through security. It was very busy here with no real clear directions on what to do? We must have looked really puzzled. Hayden and Scott went through a different scanner to us three and Scott had some further checks done but after sometime we were all through. I feel so much more settled once we’ve got through this part. Went straight to our gate and found ourselves a seat and settled ourselves there for the next couple of hours. I couldn’t be bothered to look in the shops as there were only a couple of little shops. Scott took Poppy for a look though and we all kept taking a walk every now and then. We had some snacks, finally opened that big bag of crisps that we bought in Walmart 3 weeks ago! Boarding started just before 5pm they said they were running a little late but we’d be able to make that time up in the air. We had the same seats as on the way out so had plenty of room again. Poppy soon made use of her Olaf pillow! Not much to report you know how it goes you just want to get home as soon as possible. We had some food which was fine and we watched a couple of films. I told Poppy to get some sleep which she did do for a little time. Scott managed a couple of hours too but the boys didn’t sleep at all. Everything went well and we landed at 6.30 so all in good time and it actually felt like it had gone quickly. Of course we were one of the last of the plane again what with being at the back of the plane. The queue for Border control was really long and whilst we were waiting Jamie started to feel unwell. Just as we were being called to the bay Jamie threw up of course I had the sick bags ready. The lady told us not to worry as she’d seen it all before. Once through I took Jamie to the toilets and he sorted himself out, he felt a lot better. Ours was one of the last cases off the belt but at least we’d got them all. We called the car place to say we were back and they gave the instructions on where to collect the car. Just had to go back to where we left it up in the carpark, the driver would deliver it back to there. Sure enough it was so glad that it had all gone smoothly. Not a great deal more to say except we left Heathrow at 8.30 and arrived home at midday. Luckily no traffic anywhere we stopped off once for a toilet and coffee break but we didn’t hang around. The kids fell asleep as I thought they would and Scott was a real star for driving back I know that I wouldn’t be able to do it. It was lovely and sunny as we drove home too so it didn’t feel as bad coming home. And there we have it 27 days later the end of the trip report! I would like to say thank you to everyone who have read our trippy and left comments. It really does make a difference and there’s been plenty of times when I thought I’d just give up. Those comments that were left spurred me on so much so a really big thank you to you all for taking the time to leave a reply. I’m not going to do a high’s and low’s as you’ll already know that all our holiday was a massive high. The only low point we had was with the family photo shoot with the photographer Randy Chapman which was a complete waste of time - at least it was just one morning! Future Plans – Well I have a very big birthday coming up my 50th to be exact! I still can’t believe that I’ll be that old and as much as I would’ve loved to have celebrated this special birthday in Disney World I knew this couldn’t happen. Never mind though as I found some cheap flights to Paris so we’ll be going to Disneyland Paris for the very first time! I still can’t believe it we’re so excited and can’t wait to visit a different Disney Park this May Anyway once again thank you for reading along and for the lovely comments, I’ve really enjoyed reading them. If just one person as found it a little bit useful then it’s been worth the while I’m not sure what I’m going to do now in my free time lol, I’ve just come back from a solo break to Iceland so I might do a mini trippy for that Bye for now Edited at 06:43 AM. |

What a wonderful holiday and an amazing trip report - you really did do an incredible job.
Thank you so much for taking the time to share your holiday with us - I'm sorry I haven't commented every time but I usually save your report for my lunch break at work and I find it fiddly to type on my phone! Anyway I've thoroughly enjoyed reading - it's been so informative and your photos are brilliant. They truly capture the happiness in your lovely family. Thanks again x

Hi Julia - I have thoroughly enjoyed reading all 27 days of your trippie. Through your writing you can really tell how much spending all that time together meant to you all.
Thank you so much for taking the time to share your adventure, and yes you should definitely do an Iceland trippie - the pics you shared were fab, so it would be great to read all about it.
