I think they are such a lovely way to document your trip, and like you say... so lovely to look back on So I say you should definitely do one!

How have I only just come across this!
Woo, a west cost trip how exciting, i'll be living vicariously through you XD It all sounds so great and its so soon! Why are there resort fee?! That seems ridiculous. Do Florida hotels have those too? Looking forward to the next installment and reading along with the trippie when it comes :3

Thanks so much for joining me Sammie, I can't believe how quickly this trip is coming around all of a sudden!
The resort fees are just crazy aren't they?! We didn't experience them when we stayed at HRH in Orlando last year... so obviously not the case with all hotels... they seem to hit very hard on the West Coast though! |

I think there are definitely hotels with cheaper fees and parking... I think we just let our hearts (rather than our heads!) rule our choices when we were booking!

Update 5 - Long Beach Hotel
Our final night of this trip will be spent in Long Beach and on our initial look at this area we were certain that we wanted to stay on The Queen Mary, the permanently moored boat that sits in the harbour there. But after doing some digging we were faced with countless negative reviews, mostly centred on the tired, outdated rooms and the paper-thin walls. As much as we loved how quirky it would be I couldn’t shake the feeling of worry so we decided to abandon the idea and instead will settle for a daytime visit there instead!
So it was back to the drawing board but we soon came across the much shinier and newer Hyatt Regency. It still has the waterfront location which was key and its lovely modern style looks great, it’s a winner! We have booked a standard king room with an upgraded harbour view through eBookers which for one night came in at £172 (taking advantage again of a 14% voucher code and £9.48 that we had in our Bonus+ account). Self-parking comes in at $26 per day but there are no resort fees on top so a small saving grace… I think we are becoming blasé to these damn extra fees now! It’s sad to think that when we get to this hotel it will be our very last night of the trip but I’m happy we are going out in style with someone where so fancy! And its great location means we can get out and about exploring Long Beach and also nearby Santa Monica! |

I am so excited about all the hotels... just think of all the toiletries I can swipe!
So sorry I totally forgot to sound the klaxon on the last update! My bad So pleased we decided to go for this one in the end, as cool and quirky as The Queen Mary looked I am totally up for something a bit more fancy for our very last night! xxx |

Update 6 - Disneyland tickets
Yesterday was an exciting day... our Disneyland tickets arrived in the post!
These are 3-day hopper tickets and cost £244 each from ATD. They were slightly cheaper from Attraction Tix but they send an e-ticket that has to be exchanged for real tickets on arriving at the parks. With only 3 days to play with I didn't want to waste time faffing around with that so instead we went with ATD who send out real tickets (I thought it was worth justifying the extra £8 each!). This afternoon is going to be spent researching restaurants... if anyone has any recommendations they would be most appreciated! 38 days to go! |
