[WDW-40, 2016] Day 10: Boo To You!
Day 10
Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party Shopping/Pool September 13, 2016 I take a lot of photos at Disney! I can never include them all! WDW-40, 2016: Trip Report Index | Pre-Trip Report I think today’s trip report is going to be mainly photographs, as I don’t have too much to say! We started the day with some retail therapy at one of my favourite stores – Super Target. They sell pretty much everything – clothes, toys, electronics, homewares, craft stuff, and grocers, to name just a few things! At this time of year, you know I will be making a beeline for the Halloween stuff! I get so excited when I’m shopping, that Steve really does have to rein me back in. Like I needed to buy several Halloween decorations, but the stuff was not going to fit into our suitcases no matter how hard we tried. Like this giant pumpkin container, and this super cute ghost lamp. And there were loads of things I would have loved to have added to my Halloween decor collection, but it just wasn’t practical to buy ALL the things! I did buy me the (smaller) purple pumpkin container though, As well as a stack of Jack o’ Lanterns that were a lamp. I don’t seem to have a photo of them in the store, but there is one of them lit up below. Then of course there is the pumpkin spice everything that is for sale. I know we picked up several sweet treats along the way too – some to enjoy whilst in Orlando, and some to bring home too. The Pumpkin Pie Oreos are so good! After our shopping jaunt, we headed back home for lunch in our room, and then spent some time in the pool, before getting ready for Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. This would be the first of two nights we’d spend at the party. This MNSSHP was just Steve and myself, and the other one was with my brother, Chris and his fiancée, Meg. I wanted to make sure I had ample chances to get photos of the parade and fireworks – plus, I love Halloween, so it’s any excuse really! We didn’t dress up in costumes. Steve wore a Ghostbusters t-shirt, and I wore the same purple dress as I did last year. This years make up was Maleficent inspired, but I got the green and purple the wrong way around – annoying! I started out wearing my Poison Apple Ears which I bought in 2013, but sadly, the band got broken in our suitcase, and despite us trying to fix it, they were not going to stay on my head all night. So I compensated myself and bought a new pair of ears! So the reason for happy smiley me is because I’m excited to be going to MNSSHP, the glum photos of me are because it is pouring down with rain, and we are stuck in the Emporium on Main Street USA. I think it was at this point I was really cursing myself for having to use a scooter on this trip, but in all honesty, even walking about in that kind of rain is miserable. As the rain continued to fall, it got more horrid with thunder and lightening. You could see people rushing to exit the park, and we heard that there was a long tine at the Town Hall of people complaining and wanting their money back. We waited in hope that the rain was stop, and the fireworks and the second parade would be shown. We manoeuvred our way through the Emporium to Casey’s Corner so that we could get a hot dog for our dinner. They now sell the hot dogs in regular and footlong size – which I’m sure they didn’t used to do. They come with fries on the side (or you could have a fruit bag); and we also bought a drink to share. The hot dogs were good – we somehow shared the two types between us! Casey's Corner » Main Course... Me: Barbecue Slaw Dog – Topped with Pulled Pork, Coleslaw, and Barbecue Sauce ($12.29) Him: Chili-Cheese Dog – Topped with Chili and Shredded Cheddar Cheese ($12.29) Us: Soft Drink ($3.29) *********************************************** Casey's Corner, Magic Kingdom Bill: $27.87 + Tax: $1.82 + Tip: $0 = $29.69 TiW Discount: $0 _______________________________________________ Total paid: $29.69 *********************************************** Fortunately, the rain dried up for HalloWishes and Boo To You, round 2. But first, it was time for Celebrate The Magic, a [now retired] light projection show on Cinderella Castle. It really was lovely – the musical score, and the projections. It has been replaced by Once Upon A Time. I wasn’t sure what settings to use for this so my photos are hit and miss, but I’ve included some of them below. There is also the video that Steve filmed so you can watch for yourself! HalloWishes – which is the Halloween fireworks show followed next, and for me, they are the best fireworks at Walt Disney World. Now that Wishes has come to an end though, I wonder if they will be changing the party fireworks? I do hope not – I don’t think my Disney heart can take any more changes just yet! I got barely any photos from the fireworks this time around – I wasn’t able to set up my tripod, and so I took a couple handheld for posterity, and just enjoyed the show instead. I am sure you’ll forgive me. I do have more photos from the next time we went to Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party – so you’ll be able to see more then! After we watched the fireworks, we went to grab a spot for the parade, and pray that it wouldn’t start raining again! I don’t know if it was because of the weather, but there wasn’t an appearance from the Headless Horseman which was a shame. I was hoping to grab a photo of him this year. There were a couple of changes for Mickey’s Boo To You Halloween Parade from last year – Vanellope von Schweetz (Wreck It Ralph) was riding the gumball machine instead of Goofy; and Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde led out the pre-parade instead of Phineas and Ferb. But aside from that it was as awesome as I had remembered, and the theme tune just sticks in your head for ages afterwards! Even as I type this out I’m singing Boo to you and you and you and you, Happy Halloween! With the parade finished, we stopped to get some pictures taken with a Disney Photographer – both inside and outside the park. The one below was also animated which was very cool. We were gutted that it rained so much this evening – as we had really wanted to try and get to see one or two characters, but it wasn’t to be. Thankfully we’ve got another shot at MNSSHP in a few days time! Despite the rain, we had a fun time, and it was a great way to spend the last night of my 30s. We’d be back at Magic Kingdom tomorrow to meet up with Chris and Meg (who had landed in Orlando this evening) to celebrate my 40th birthday! What a shame it rained for MNSSHP! At least it cleared for the parade and fireworks! Looking forward to the next day.

Love your outfit! Very Haunted Mansion-esque.
A real shame about the rain, I'm glad you stuck it out though. I am so sad that Celebrate the Magic has gone. I really thought it was a very clever show. |

I'm so glad it did clear - would have been even more gutted if it hadn't!
Thank you! x Thank you! ooh yes, I see the HM element to it Watching it back, it certainly has a charm to it - but I'm sure what comes next will be just as amazing. Thank you - I am hoping on future trips my photos will improve even more! it's a Sigma 30mm F1.4 DC Art x

Great day and fantastic photographs! I have just tentatively invested in a tripod and some filters for my Lumix FZ200 (ND2/4/8 and one which is adjustable, plus a couple of others) and I am trying to get to grips with the more advanced features and not just plonk it on iAuto or the programme mode! I love looking at your photos as it gives me ideas of what can be achieved (although I know you use are using a DSLR - I just want to get off of auto mode and take some nice pictures at the moment ) - my aim in the summer is to get some shots of fireworks with a slower shutter speed.
Love the picture of the fountain and the castle too

Thank you!
A tripod will change your life when it comes to longer shutters - I hope by our next trip I'll be more accomplished on using a tripod and being braver on longer speeds. I have never really used one before, only once or twice, and never at Disney so it was a learning curve. I did by a shutter lead thingy (I'm sure there is a technical name, but I can't think of it now) and I know there is one for the Lumix as well. That made taking photos of fireworks less risky from shake too. All I can ever advise is to just keep experimenting and practising!

Fantastic photos. The best I've ever seen of that parade, as they tend to be really dark.
Thanks for posting. |
