Orchid Court

I often see people asking about breakfast at the Universal Resort hotels. Orchid Court is on the lobby level and is advertised as a "grab and go" breakfast. Coffee, tea, juice, milks etc. Pastries, bagels. You can make toast. Not exactly a cheap option but convenient before hitting the parks.

We grabbed some pastries to tide us over until lunch. Was $26 with drinks and a couple of bananas($2 each)

Croissant Moon Bakery

We fancied something non burger/fries for lunch today so we tries Croissant Moon Bakery just inside the entrance to IOA. Not a great use of of the dining plan financially and that got mucked that up as well.

No queue at all so we went in to order. Worlds oldest employee was working today. I said we had the dining plan so could he explain what we got with that. He said 1 of the sandwiches, a muffin and a drink. We ordered. He put on trays. I gave him dining plan cards. He then said "Uh oh! We might have a problem folks." These sandwiches are adult credits, you need these small kids one for your kids" I guess he didn't notice the 2 kids standing next to me that I was asking what they wanted after I explained we had the dining plan to him earler I couldn't be bothered with the hassle as the kids really wanted theirs so payed oop for theirs.

I chose the peppered beef croissant sandwich. This was nice. It came with potato salad and melon.

Kelly and Evie both had turkey baguettes. Both enjoyed.

Lily had a ham and cheese baguette which she finished.

We got muffins. I got the pistachio one. For some reason when I asked for this I said it with an accent like Prince Charles so have been called "Pistachio Boy" by the girls ever since. I didn't like the muffin.

We also had a French toast muffin with powered sugar. This was much nicer.

We had two red velvet ones but I've failed with the photos

I paid $25 oop. Nice sandwiches though.

IOA snacks

Frozen Butterbeer. Don't even bother with the normal butterbeer. 3 visits to Hogsmede over the years, 3 souvenir glasses

Evie was desperate to try a corn dog. Of course she hated it. To be fair it wasn't nice.

Kelly had a Cinnabon. This was a snack credit on the dining plan.

Bubba Gumps

Couldn't decide where to eat. Didn't feel like burgers, Hard Rock would be too noisy for Evie(with her visual impairment her hearing is very sensitive). So seeing as I was a Landry Card holder and I had $25 for my "birthday" we thought we'd go here.

Smugly produced my card to avoid queue but there wasn't one. Shown to a table and honestly about 30 seconds later we had our meal, paid and were out. Rushed wasn't the word.

Server was a bit so so. He took our order and explained about the Run Forrest Run or Stop Forrest Stop signs.

Kelly was wild and had a beer.

.

For appetisers we got Mama Gumps Garlic Bread basket. This was quite nice.

Evie and Kelly shared the Calamari with roasted bell peppers. They liked it.

.

Halfway through eating them our mains were brought out annoyingly.

The table was completely full so lots or rearranging needed to be done before we could eat.

Kelly had Lt Dan's Surf and Turf, baby back ribs, grilled shrimp and fries. It was nice.

Evie had the Kids ribs and fries. She really enjoyed them.

Lily had the Grilled cheese and fries. She said it was lovely.

I had Mama's Southern Fried Chicken. This was ok nothing special.

Asked if we wanted dessert while still eating mains. I said I don't think think so, cheque handed to me:angry: I told him I was Landry Card holder and so he had to go back and re do it

The manager came over to present the cheque with the reward taken off. I find this really uncomfortable when they come over. Surely he has better things to do! I know people will say we should have said to complain about the speed but frankly couldn't be bothered.

Food was ok but wouldn't go again. $81 after reward taken and tip.

Coldstone Creamery.

Straight out of Bubba Gumps and into Coldstone Creamery I always say I want ice cream on holiday but I never do forced myself to have one The girls forced themselves too

Evie had mint with gummy bears and choc chips.

Lily had cotton candy with marshmallows

I had Peanut Butter Cup Perfections. Chocolate ice cream with peanut butter, Reeses Peanut Butter Cup and Fudge.

Very nice. $19 odd for the 3.

You just ruined my dreams. I've been desperate to try this for ages.

Loving the report so far. Really glad you've got so much done live.

Universal and the sandwiches I bet in Disney they would have said just have the sandwiches anyway as it was as much there mistake as yours!

Bumps gump we had exactly the same rushed experience with our food. We got our own back we meandered over our drinks for ages after dinner the server kept popping by to see how we were doing. I guess as there is often a queue they like to kept people moving as quickly as possible but it's not cheap and if I wanted fast food I'd go elsewhere.

Shame bubba rushed. Dh had that chicken and I tried some and it was really good as in I wished I'd ordered it. Hate it when things are hit and miss. Cold stone looking good though. The prices do make you appreciate free ddp.
