I'm still at the stage after being back that food has lost all its appeal so not getting hungry doing the report.

Grand Floridian Cafe

This was a very last minute booking. We were due to go Trails End but for various reasons we cancelled. I got this for 6.40pm thinking this would be plenty of time to get to Happily Ever After at 9pm.We checked in, without much of a wait. We had a good look around at the Grand Floridian beforehand. It really is an impressive place.

The sever was good and we had a nice table. It was busy but not overly so. We decided to have appetisers today. Before that bread was brought out to the table.

I had the Old South Chicken Wings, Crispy-fried and Spun with Key Lime-Datil Pepper Sauce. These were fantastic. Some of the best wings I've had. Hot but not where it killed them.

Kelly went for the.Caramelised Onion Soup Gratinée Traditional French Onion Soup. She said this was great.

The girls shared House-breaded Fried Mozzarella with Tomato Jam and Grilled Artichoke. They didn't like it but it was nice I thought.

For mains we both had the New York Strip Steak, Loaded Twice-baked Potato, Broccolini, and House-made Steak Salad. This was fine but nothing special. I enjoyed my steak at Mama Melrose far more.

The kids didn't really enjoy theirs at all. They were fed up with the normal kids meals and went with the healthier check meal instead . They both found them pretty dull.

Evie had the Kids' Mickey Check Meal - Fresh Filet of Salmon with Seasonal Vegetables, Roasted Potatoes, and Sliced Apples.

Lily went for the Kids' Mickey Check Meal - Whole-Wheat Chicken Wrap.Whole-Wheat Tortilla with Roasted Chicken, Tomatoes, Shredded Lettuce, and Ranch Dressing served with Sliced Apples.

Both never received the apple slices but we forgot until later.

The girls didn't fancy having dessert but ended up pretty much eating all of ours! Me and Kelly both went for Chocolate Fondue with Fruit, Brownie Bites, and Campfire Marshmallows. I can't say if it was nice or not as the kids ate it all!

It was a nice meal but not an amazing one. The kids didn't like it all. The other thing was it was so slow. I don't know if it's just the place but we sat down at 6.40pm. I was expecting to have time to get to the Magic Kingdom for the fireworks. We left the restaurant at 8.40pm so it was a long slow meal. We ended up watching the fireworks at the Grand Floridian. Lovely setting but Evie really struggled to see anything.

I probably wouldn't return.

2 adult t/s credits used, 1 child t/s used and paid oop for 1 child meal.

I'd heard good things about the GF cafe to its disappointing to hear you weren't impressed, although the appetisers do look really nice.

It's not that I wasn't impressed but had much better steak elsewhere and kids didn't like theirs. It's a lovely place but wouldn't rush back.

Trattoria Al Forno Bon Voyage Breakfast

This was our first visit to Disneys Boardwalk. If my lottery numbers come in then this where I'm heading. Really nice. We were fairly early for our adr so we had a good look around. More in the main trip report when I get round to this day.

Our adr time was 9.25am. Inside it was pretty busy but we only had a short wait of no more than 10 minutes before we were called in. Our table however wasn't great as it was right near the entrance but never mind.

This was the one real time I really felt our server was hard to find. She was fine but not around a lot.

For this meal you chose to start either the Fruit Salad or the Berry, Yogurt, and Granola Parfait. The girls had the fruit salad whereas me and Kellly had the parfait. Both were nice and had nice decorative elements to them.

We were also given a selection of pastries which were nice as well.

You then chose something from the menu for a main.

Lily had the Character Waffle with Bacon or Sausage and fresh Fruit served. She enjoyed this.

Evie was using one of her adult credits so she went for Golden Frittata. Prosciutto di Parma, Piquillo Pepper, Scallion, and Pecorino Romano Cheese with Roasted Potatoes. She really enjoyed this but was way to big for her.

Kelly went for Tower of Pancakes. Fluffy Buttermilk Pancakes and Seasonal Fruit Compote with Bacon or Sausage. This was good but the pancakes looked to thick to me

I went for King Triton's Shipwreck al Forno, Calzone with Soppressata, Bacon, Sausage, Blend of Cheeses, and Sunday Gravy. This came with a trident in the middle but was removed for safety! This was really nice. Very heavy for breakfast though but I was pleased I had it.

Throughout the meal characters came out. They were introduced each time they came out. I couldn't work out how they walked round the tables though. It was Ariel, Prince Eric, Rapunzel and Flynn Ryder. All were good but I find my girls just shove there autograph books at them, panic and don't say anything! I enjoy the Disney Princes hair. Always terrible. More pics in the main trip report.

.

Overall we really enjoyed this character Breakfast. Nice setting, different food from the other breakfast menus as well. Really pleased we did this.

3 adult t/s used and 1 child t/s used.

Lovely breakfast! Would love to give it a try.
My girls (8&9) also freak out with face characters, and don't want to do any on our next trip
