Travel Day - 16th Sept: Castle Rock EMA And we're off! Neither of us were particularly hungry so we just had drinks at the pub in East Midlands Airport. I had a Mixed Berry Rekorderlig which was £5.15 Andy had a pint of Somersby cider which was about £4.

Travel Day - 16th Sept: Thomson Economy in-flight meal Drinks on the plane were free and they were offered about 3 times. We were also offered wine/squash with meals (each meal had a water cup too) and tea/coffee twice - so plenty to drink! We both had a Magners berry cider. This was the only cider offering. It wasn't hugely berry flavoured and not as sweet as other fruit ciders either. There wasn't a choice of main meal. Everyone was given the same (apart from vegetarians, allergy, Kids etc). Roast chicken dinner with a stuffing ball, a few pieces of veg, roast potatoes and gravy. I was definitely ready to eat by this point! I really enjoyed it to be honest. The chicken was proper breast and not too dry. The stuffing ball was a nice touch too. The potatoes were a bit dry and flaky and could of used a bit more veg but certainly edible! This also came with a bread roll, cheese block crackers and a little chocolate truffle. Dessert was a little chocolate pot. Very rich but delicious. About half way through they handed out jelly beans! A nice touch. I love jelly beans! Afternoon tea was served an hour or two prior to landing. Cheese, spring onion & mayo sub roll. Raisin scone, clotted cream and jam. All good and tasty. We felt quite well fed when we got off the plane. Edited at 05:36 PM. |

Travel Day - 16th Sept: Millers Ale House Coach transfers from Sanford took ages as we were the last stop so once checked in we quickly freshened up and headed out onto I-Drive. We had a few drinks before dinner to decompress. Andy had a few Angry Orchard ciders. I had a couple of Cherry Limeade cocktails. Refreshing but fairly weak but probably for the best as it had been a long day.

Travel Day - 16th Sept: Tony Romas An old favourite but it has had a renovation since we last went. It's really nice inside now and a bit more swanky. Nothing too posh though and we felt fine dining in shorts & vests. We really like the decor now and they have a great bar area. Drinks were a cider and a glass of wine. The cider was pretty big! To start we were brought a basket of warm crusty rolls. These were really good. For mains - I had to have ribs at Tony Romas! Half Rack of Baby Back ribs with original BBQ sauce, coleslaw & fries. These were so good. The meat was really soft and just flaked off the bone. The fries had a really nice seasoning on them too. I ate it all bar a few fries. Andy - Boneless Beef Short Rib. Red wine & mushroom demi-glace, mashed potatoes, seared garlic green beans. This was fab. Would highly recommend. The meat didn't even need cutting, it just pulled apart. The sauce was amazing too. I had a few of his green beans that were a little bit too "al dente" for my liking. Overall I would 100% recommend Tony Romas. I was a big fan before but like it even more now. A great first night meal, I'm so glad we made the effort to go out instead of grabbing a pizza like we normally do. Service was notably good too. Edited at 04:39 PM. |

Travel Day - 16th Sept: Walgreens We were too tired to stay at TR for dessert so we picked up some snacks whilst in Walgreens buying supplies. This was mine. It tasted nice but melted so quickly! Andy chose these which were nice. We got donuts for breakfast in the morning too Other than these we got some alcohol, soda and Cheetos. Edited at 04:44 PM. |

Day 1 - 17th Sept: Millers Ale House The plan is to go to Halloween Horror Nights tonight so in order for us to stay up so late on the first day, today is going to be a chill out day (I know most people will think that's mad!). We are currently in Millers Ale House watching the football (I have no intererst in that so am updating here instead lol). It does mean that I get White Sangria though Sweet and refreshing.
