From Rock'n'Roll to Creole Sept 17: Day 16 : Sapphire Falls , Orlando

yesterday is HERE

Monday 25 Sept

We were up early and finished the packing - mainly squashing in the new purchases and trying to close up some cases that we wouldn’t need to open again in Orlando .

We went for a walk round the complex before we set off around 10.

And then we were on the road to Orlando via Tampa

We had another drive around Lakeland , it looks a nice area.

There was more hurricane damage visible

We came across the lake area - with this refinery of some sort in the background

And then we were back on the I4 and in no time passing The Mickey pylon

All we had to eat so far was a bag of Barbecue flavour crisps and we were debating between a late breakfast or early lunch .

As we were headed to the outlets and had the Travelzoo voucher to use, we made a stop for early lunch at Hash House a Go Go

I had the Huckleberry Sin

And we both went for burgers - I wimped out and had just the single patty

Just a light lunch between us then

And the bill -- was just $1 after using the $40 voucher ( that we bought for $20) . We did leave $10 to cover the tip and the rest of the meal

We made a quick stop at the Outlet Marketplace - only picking up a pair of trainers for Jamie and a dress for me

Around 3 we headed off for Universal - past Cabana Bay

And arriving at Sapphire Falls

It looked gorgeous

At check in, they mentioned putting a $200 hold on our card for incidental charges, which we said was ok - but it was to prove a nightmare when we checked out so I wouldn’t agree to this in future

We had a Fab room - although it was in the furthest block and navigating it with all the suitcases was also a challenge on check out day !

Nice View of the pool

The concierge gave us our parcel delivery from the fairytale shopper - great service

A quick pic of the meagre shopping haul from earlier today - both good value though

nike trainers

CK dress

Andy wanted to have a quick nap but I was keen to make the most of the last few days of sunshine so I headed off to chill out and read my book by the pool

It was deserted - I had a whole section to myself !

I had a wander round the resort

Andy came down around 5 ish and we had a drink at bar

I had a very minty mojito !

Then it was up to the room around 7 for a Shower and we took a trip over to Portofino - we thought Citywalk would be busy and we were looking forward to a quiet evening so PBH seemed the obvious choice.

I do love travelling on the water taxis- its one of my favourite things about staying around Universal

We arrived at Portofino around 8

We perched ( laughs at own joke) in the Thirsty Fish and we had the most incredible server, Cameron. In fact I must write to Universal, he was quite simply outstanding in his attention and service. A truly lovely young man.

I had the Margarita Italiano

Lovely !

Right around now my camera started to play up with the shutter not always opening and closing properly so some annoying black blobs on some pics - I didn't realise till I downloaded them

We decided to share a cheeseplate and then a large sausage pizza

I'm pretty sure we left a $30 tip - he really had been so good - fetching me a coffee from one of the other bars as they didn't serve it in this one , letting Andy try the wines to find the one he liked etc etc. Superb service, made the evening extra special.

Pizza was delicious , we ended up taking two slices back with us
A nice alternative to eating in CityWalk.

We got the boat back to sapphire falls - we struck lucky as each time we went for a boat there was one either waiting or just arriving .

A few pics inside the resort - amazing stairwell - as with the other Universal hotels, the theming is really well done

Arcade and gym ( not that we used either )

And a walk back to room via the pool - which still had a few people in it even at 1030 !

A great evening - not a late night as we have some serious shopping ahead tomorrow which is HERE

The photos of your resort look lovely, I can't believe it was so quiet, its still September so I would have thought there would be more people in the pool. The water taxis sound great and a relaxing laid back way of travelling.

Sapphire Falls looks great!

I'm totally addicted to the Hard Rock Hotel though, so I'll probably never go there!

It was quiet although there were several big conferences on at the hotel so we reckon everyone was either there or in the parks ! Made it perfect round the pool though !

Yeah we love Hard Rock too but as we weren't doing any of the parks we didn't need any of the perks so we thought we would try this one - it has a nice laid back feel to it which was really nice at the end of the holiday .
