Hey Miss Fortune, just catching up with your report... all looks fab so far, especially the cocktails and the beef bourginion - I seem to remember you recommend this to us. Can't wait to read the rest!

Day 4 - 20th Sept: Yard House - I-Drive

We have been here for lunch before & thought it was great so were excited to be back.

However the contrast between day & night is massive. In the day you basically have pick of seats & it's lovely and quiet. This evening it was absolutely rammed & full of large tables with everyone shouting at each other. I could barely hear myself think - a intimate meal, it was not.

I didn't get a picture of drinks but I remember we didn't have anything fancy.

I chose the Margherita Pizza
Roasted Roma tomatoes, roasted garlic, mozzarella, and fresh basil. Vegetarian.

It was just OK, nothing life changing. Fairly garlicky which I liked though.

Andy had the Penne with Chicken.
Cremini mushrooms, asparagus, and sun-dried tomatoes in Marsala cream sauce; dusted with Parmesan.

I can confirm it tasted as bland as it looks. I wouldn't recommend it,

I think we definitely ordered wrong, there are much more interesting things on the menu that these dishes (I don't know why we didn't order them!). Plus the fact our ears were bleeding didn't help.

Based on this evening alone - If you want a nice relaxing meal, stick to lunchtime. If you want to get drunk & rowdy with friends of an evening - this is the place. Sorry!

Oops! I do tend to go on about the bourginion quite a bit!

Day 4 - 20th Sept: Bonus Snack - Hotel

We didn't stick around Yard House for dessert & instead headed back to dig into something sweet in bed.

I picked up this bad boy when we popped into Hollywood Studios. It would be rude not to!

Butterfinger Cupcake!

Still so, so, so good.

Great updates. Those cocktails look lovely.

I could happily eat a butterfinger cupcake right now!

Day 5 - 21st Sept: "Beach Club" Pool Drinks - Hard Rock Hotel

Our move over to the Hard Rock

We wore our swimming stuff underneath our clothes so once checked in we could use the pool until our room was ready (we didn't have Universal tickets, so no parks to worry about).

Sitting round the HRH pool (or sometimes actually in it) with a cocktail just soaking it all in is normally one of our holiday highlights - so we did just that.

Pineapple Express
Puerto Rican Rum, Midori, Pineapple Juice, Red Bull Yellow Edition

These go down like pop.

Victoria's Little Secret
Malibu Passion Fruit Rum, Cranberry Juice, Splash of Sprite

Again, really tasty & a tad dangerous!

Nirvana
Bacardi Peach Red Rum, Peach and Mango Island Oasis

Not normally a frozen drinks fan but I love peach so gave it a whirl & really liked it so I ordered a few more frozen drinks over our stay.

As always the prices were..
Initial Drink - $14.50
Refills - $10.00 (this is over your whole stay as long as you keep hold of a plastic cup).

Day 5 - 21st Sept: NBC Grill - Citywalk

Dinner before heading to Halloween Horror Nights.

We were able to walk in and there were loads of free tables.

To drink I had a Black Cherry Hard Cider.

Andy just had a regular cider.

My meal was the Fired Up Jalapeño Burger
Jalapeño-jack cheese, jalapeño bacon, fried jalapeños, bibb lettuce, tomato, toasted brioche bun, brown sugar ketchup. $15.95

I chose Tater Tots as my side.

It was nice but not very spicy. A good burger but I would choose something else next time. I love the Tater Tots though, they are just mini hash browns.

Andy had his favourite from NBC - 12 oz. New York Sirloin Strip
Served with asparagus and Yukon gold mashed potatoes and a choice of béarnaise or Bordelaise sauce. $39.95

He chose Bordelaise sauce.

Expensive but it really is a fab steak. Full of flavour & tender.

Day 5 - 21st Sept: Lone Palm - Citywalk

We finished a bit early for HHN opening so went to get a drink at Lone Palm (The aeroplane bar) opposite Margaritaville on on Citywalk.

I had a Raspberry Daiquiri

Very nice but took me ages to drink as I kept getting brain freeze.

From the pic background it looks like Andy had a Vodka Orange.

Just looking at the menu information for this just spotted they have a "Chocolate Banana Colada". Why did I not see this?! Definitely on the list for next time!

Day 5 - 21st Sept: Snack Cart - Universal Studios

Later during HHN - A few of the orange/purple mixed drinks were consumed so after the last ride of the day Andy suggested we should get a hot dog to share to walk out with.

Good plan!

It was.. a hot dog. A nice hot dog though.
