New York Food & Drinks!

Hello Again!

I'm back with a new and somewhat improved food & drink list for New York. I figured after 3 years its probably time for an update.
So what can you expect in version 6.0:
  • lots of new places
  • website links added for mostly all places
  • branched out to include some Brooklyn and Queens spots
  • adjusted sizing
  • adjusted print settings

As before there will be two attached files that you can find below. An excel spreadsheet and a pdf. If those file types are not your thing, I'd be more than happy to convert the sheet to something else. Just let me know.

Previous background info:

I am a New York local, born and raised, who loves the City and enjoys helping others plan their visits here. You may have received pamphlets/brochures from me in the past or maybe recently .
I started this thread mostly on the recommendation from a fellow DIBBer (Abiknox) but also because I have noticed how many Dibbers there seem to be who are planning trips here in the near future and have asked about where/what to eat while they are here.

After doing a bit of research it seems there are over 50,000 food establishments open in NYC. I don't know about you, but that is a lot of places to eat. Now many people have asked what/where is the best food to eat? That's where I come in.

I decided to create a Excel Spreadsheet with all of the restaurants/bars/food trucks/whole in the walls, pretty much anywhere there is delicious food/drinks being served. I have personally been to all of these establishments and gotten something in each one.

As you will see the list is set up in alphabetical order, with numbers first then letters. On the top you will see 8 columns: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Snack, Drinks, Price, Location, and Notes.

Lets talk about the meal types first. If there is an X in the box that establishment is good for that particular meal type.

Breakfast: Right now there are not too many breakfast places listed merely due to the fact that by the time I get into the city breakfast has ended. But the ones that are on their I feel are delicious.

Lunch/Dinner: not much to say here, almost every location has an X listed in these.

Snacks: Now my definition of a snack is probably very different from everyone else, so I tried to generalize this section.

Drinks: Included in this categories is Beer, Cocktails, Shakes, and any other type of interesting beverages I may find.

Now the last three columns (Price/Location/Notes) are pretty generic. I didn't want to go into to much detail so as to keep the sheet less cluttered.

Price: I went through all of the menus at each spot and put from the cheapest meal/item to the most expensive.

Location: For most locations I put the street address.

Notes: This is just a small section for little tidbits I think are important.

So that's about it, for now.
Keep en eye out for updates as I recheck all my spelling and add new places.
Please feel free to send me suggestions, comments, questions or anything else you may have.

Enjoy!

Thank you so much - we are heading out to NY in 42 days. I have family in White Plains and we stay with them, but always keen to find new places to eat!

This is brilliant, thank you so much. We're off to NYC in June for the first time and can't wait.
Can you recommend any good Italian restaurants? Preferably not a chain restaurant or too pricey.
Thanks x

This is excellent thanks.

We'll be there in July or August or October (not decided yet - can't make up our minds!) and this the kind of info we were really looking to get hold of.

I have not been to the below place, but I did ask a few friends who are Italian food aficionados and they all said this one.

Malatesta: prices are great, and the portions are large. It is cash only though. Most of the pasta dishes are under $20
