Disney to start charging for resort parking *now confirmed*

Just a rumour but possibly starting soon. How will this affect already confirmed bookings I wonder? I’m staying on site both trips this year and part of that decision was the access to free parking at the parks, I won’t be happy if that’s replaced by charging at resorts!

edit: *now confirmed*

Disney Value Resorts: $13 per night
Disney Moderate Resorts: $19 per night
Disney Deluxe and Deluxe Villa Resorts: $24 per night

{Admin Edit}
Official news from Disney UK is that for any booking made before 31/12/2019 parking will be free. Booking made on or after 31/12/2019 will be charged as per the prices stated.

This applied to all UK bookings from not only Disney UK but from other uk travel agents too.

I'd be surprised if they actually showed a charge for parking at resorts. It's more likely it would be added to the room cost, if it isn't already. Showing it separately would just anger people, but no-one would question a small increase in hotel cost as it goes up every year.

They might charge for non guests parking but otherwise I can't see that going down well!

Maybe more people are parking at resorts and nipping on the courtesy bus to the parks so that's why they are looking at it.

I can see this for non guests but I think people who have restaurant reservations will still be free to park

That's probably the reason. People go to a resort and say they are having lunch.

Park up and go to a park. Return late at night and leave. At the moment there are no checks so people will get away with it.

Maybe security should issue driver with a timed ticket that has to be handed in when they leave!

It would be similar to Universal so you can see why they would consider it. Hopefully, no more than $22 a day though!

There are checks at least at some places, we went to Chef Mickey last month and I had to show my passport so the guard could check my name against the reservations before I was let in. Don't know if they only do that at the monorail resorts though

But there isn't a "time check" imagine if your reservation was at 08:00 you could leave your car there all day and return at 23:00 and it would be very difficult to prove what time you entered

Remember though that Universal hotels are operated by Loews not directly by Universal themselves.
