Keep Calm & Have a Cocktail March 2018:Day 7: Orlando to Largo. Crowds,Cars & a very nice Cocktail

Yesterday is HERE

Friday 16 March, People, People, Everywhere

We were awake by 7 , finally a decent nights sleep !

I did a complete re pack of the cases to fit in yesterdays shopping - so one case now was all locked up and didn’t need to be opened again ( this was the theory, it did last 24 hours) - and one case was still full of the food from home that we were giving to Andy's cousin and would then be empty for todays shopping !

We were a bit slower out than we had expected - I had wanted to be at the outlets at 10 but we ended up not leaving the hotel until 11.

They were happy to hold the cases and hand luggage and there was only the resort fee to settle up - a great price here for just over £100 for the night. Very pleased with it. Our view

The lobby area was busy with people having breakfast - we hadn't realised it was available

We headed off to the Kissimmee Clearance place first and then Nike near Celebration (purchases were made, all in the shopping report).

It was about now I remembered the strawberry shortcake left in the fridge I was gutted.

A friend from home had asked about a particular die cast model of Mater so we thought the best bet would be World of Disney and as we had time, we made the trip to DS.

We took a small detour with the parking after getting a bit confused but managed to snag a ground floor space in the lime garage.

It was really busy on the walkway in so we should have been better prepared for the massed hordes that greeted us

Omg , it was utter madness in the store, absolutely heaving , shouting, pushing and lots of frowning.

And that was just the adults.

A few quiet corners where I managed some pics

They had every die cast model from Cars except the one we wanted so we settled on a different set and I left Andy to pay while I went for a wander around to the other stores.

I did like the posh bakery

It took him so long that I texted to make sure he hadn’t gone out one of the other doors and got lost.

He was an unhappy chap and I felt sure that a good bowl of chips and gravy would cheer him up. He said it was so bad in there that the guy on the door even apologised so his take on my idea for lunch ?

$18 for chips and gravy ? Really ?

So that was the verdict on the two poutines we ordered.

I had the plain ones with gravy

and he had the St Patricks special which had cheese sauce and red cabbage bits

I enjoyed it. Andy was still saying it wasn't good value as we were leaving and declaring how much he hated Disney ( for a change)

Ho hum, We set off for the premium outlets arriving just after 1pm.

We got a few more things and were happy to call it a day and be on our way as we wanted to beat rush hour traffic.

So we were back picking up our cases at 3 and on the road towards Tampa.

Well there was no getting away from the traffic. It was just horrendous and pretty much gridlocked all the way towards Lakeland.

Just not fun !

There was a decent stretch of clear road

until we got closer to Tampa and then it was slow - not as slow as the traffic going the other way , but still slow.

In all it took us just under 3 hours to go 90 miles.

We were both hungry by now and still waiting to hear back from Andy's Cousin about what time they would be free so we nipped into Red Lobster which absolutely revived us after the journey.

a Bahama Mama was definitely required

And the cheddar biscuits were quickly snaffled

I went for a Caesar salad and the Cajun chicken pasta ( small portion)

Andy went for steak and lobster

I had a coffee ( no charge) - bill was excellent value

A really lovely meal and Red Lobster redeemed itself from our last ( no lobster) visit !

As we were finishing we got a text to say they were back so Andy popped to pick up some wine and we made the short trip to their place and spent the evening just chatting and catching up.

They had got a Chinese takeaway in but were still stuffed from our dinner - good job they bought lots as it was to come in handy tomorrow …

Which is HERE

Didn't realise you were only having the one night in Orlando, Amanda. What a shame you left the strawberry shortcake behind, I can confirm it's lovely!

Great shopping though in the little while you had, and I do love a visit to Disney Springs. It sounded very busy though I can't believe that blasted balloon was up - it's the bane of my life trying to go up in it!

Nightmare traffic, honestly we've never found Orlando traffic too bad, we must just have been lucky. Meal at Red Lobster looks good, glad it revived you. Lovely for you to meet up with family again

Yeah ..verrrrry expensive chips and gravy! Disney Springs does get so busy and my male family members have been known to get an attack of the grumps there too. The youngest is already trying to establish how many times he is expected to suffer it this time. The lego shop normally distracts them for a bit but it quickly gets ugly if I start browsing aimlessly. That traffic jam looks a total pain so expect that wouldn't have done much for the Disney-stretched patience levels. Thank heavens for Red Lobster though. Sounds like it saved the day x

A quick fly by in Orlando and off. Nice bit of luggage rearranging. Oh my the traffic looked horrid. At least you had a pleasant end to the day.
