Thanks for all the comments, will reply later. Bit of a hectic day today and just chilling outside the rose and crown with a beer. I have breakfast written up and will bash away on lunch at least later tonight

I've heard the restaurant has a very good reputation with the locals.
Not sure we'll get to it this time but taking a note for future. DW doesn't like sushi and DD would say she doesn't but actually she just ate a portion of salmon tartare tonight so I think that's changing fast

The chowder at Bonefish really does look nice, as does your shrimp dish, the calamari really doesn’t look good at all, very limp and just looks like crumbs from the bottom of a bag of frozen stuff! What a shame the meal disappointed.
Disney food prices are nuts now, we just spent 3x1 credit at Chefs de France and the bill was >$200 without service which brought it home to me (I know you know this already from your deluxe experience!). Bonefish everything was a little tasteless, one of those meals which makes you wonder if you're about to come down with a cold

I gave it a go but they lacked the zip of the ihop ones, a little bit of butter and syrup and ihop's are great. Other things on the menu I had a lot of time for Keke's, clearly a classy chain in that market

Love IHOP. It's our offsite must do for breakfast.

Oh the plus side, if the DW gets some wins in, she will be easier to convince to book the next trip ;-)
Thanks for reading along It's part of the role of the man of the house to take on macho challenges like lifting heavy objects, eating unnecessarily hot things etc. Occasionally this backfires so I empathise with your DH and hope you didn't give him too hard a time

DW is not easy to convince about anything, basically at some point I will be given a list of requirements but I am hopeful the Portofino Bay will appeal to her when we visit. Unfortunately at the moment the sun isn't shining much!

Glad you're home and hopefully the jetlag passes soon. CdF spoiler alert

Can't believe you got away with the admiral and pancake photo, if I tried that then that would be the moment the server would appear to check on everything!
Keke's was ok really I ordered the wrong thing and generally we were all ok. One fella did clock me with the Admiral and gave me a sideways 'you knob' look that caused me to lose heart

Bad food and bad service! Hopefully you've had a better experience today.
We're going back to Red Lobster. Less pretentious, good food and heaven's garlic cheddar biscuits

Good day and good food day today. Weather is iffy though, hoping that improves but the dining won't be rained off either way

Breakfast - Cracker Barrel (W Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway)

Last morning at the Hawthorn Suites and we drove down to Cracker Barrel

It has a good little shop at the front selling food, gifts and souvenirs

We had a browse there and probably would have bought something but for all the cases and shopping we have to move around this morning on the hotel switch.

Onto the main event which is breakfast and looking forward to an improvement on the Battle of Bonefish Grill. DW and I went for coffee and DD water. DD then proceeded to take a loooooong time to choose a breakfast. I actually think these two have hit a temporary food wall! In the end they went for fairly similar dishes (DD’s is the one with the bacon).

Overall summary is that the eggs were good and the sausage and bacon also disappeared. DW enjoyed the biscuits but DD found them too salty. A lot of the food here was on the salty side, not overly so for me it depends what you like.

I chose something more substantial, the Sunrise Sampler. This came with a lot of food!

It was great I thought, the scrambled egg, bacon and sausage were all decent, the ‘hash brown casserole’ which is like a mini cheesy rosti was really great and the fried apples in the little bowl were sweet cinnamony loveliness yum. I love biscuits although the outside of these was a little salty, the sawmill gravy (bottom of the two gunk bowls) was the usual odd white sauce and nobody likes grits right?

The bill came to $25, very reasonable for the food and we’d like to come here again in the future.

After this we’re checking out of the Hawthorn Suites. It’s been ok, fairly cheap and cheerful although the rooms need updating. We actually stayed here a number of years back when it was a Marriott suites (I think). Not sure it’s had much love since but a good location and price. Lunch is at Beaches and Cream while we wait for our Yacht Club room

- Arriving at Disney
- Beaches and Cream
- Yacht Club/EPCOT afternoon

With a spring in our step we left the Hawthorn Suites and moved over to Disney and the Yacht Club. We spent a few days at the Beach Club last time out so the general area is familiar.

Our room of course wasn’t ready on the morning and with the weather closing the pool intermittently we ended up picking up our mugs and other minor tasks then hanging around waiting for our Beaches and Cream ADR, the first of many!

If anyone is interested here’s the spreadsheet that I’ve used to work out our dining credits (on the deluxe but could be converted for the other tiers). From this I know that I’ve planned for the Beaches meal to be OOP (no-one would manage 3 courses here surely!). It also allows me to keep track of any changes to plans and if we are running ahead or behind on our credit usage. It's just a very simple tracker but if anyone wants a copy let me know.

Lunch - Beaches and Cream (Beach Club Hotel)

We were well aware of the need to keep it light at lunchtime. Breakfast was sizeable, mine especially and we didn’t want to spoil dinner at Chefs de France with a big lunch. Dining out of pocket we all stuck with freebie drinks of water or soft drinks. DW fancied a burger and our lovely server was happy to sell her the kids meal

This tasted a lot like a McDonalds Cheeseburger just with a thicker bun. The chips were real ones, thick and very long. DW enjoyed this but nipped out to sit by the pool the sun finally appeared - briefly ) instead of taking up the option of one scoop of ice cream for dessert.

DD went for the Fudge Mud Slide sundae - A gooey, chewy Brownie covered with Hot Fudge, Three-scoops of Vanilla Ice Cream, Oreo Cookies, and Whipped Cream topped with Chocolate Syrup and a Cherry. I was not feeling that hungry and decided to build my own two scoop sundae with Strawberry and Butter Pecan ice-cream plus Peanut Butter sauce and the whipped cream, nuts etc. that come with it.

Loved my sundae, which is on the left obviously. The flavours worked perfectly, especially the PB&J style combination of the strawberry and peanut butter, finished this with ease. You can see how much larger DD’s was. She enjoyed it but was happy to quit after half, I’ve been encouraging her to stop eating things like this before she starts to feel sick rather than after. The joys of growing up! And by popular demand Admiral Snackbar also returns for a second of his scale based cameos.
I’ve got a bad feeling about this

Feel like we boxed clever here to walk away with an out of pocket cost of $28.

After this our room was ready, lovely refurb work done, everything still feels almost new which is great and we had a nice water view

The weather delayed us for a while but eventually it was clear enough to risk going out with ponchos close to hand. We rode our first Fastpass at Mission Space where I as usual was the only one to ride the less intense Green side

Well apparently I “don’t do chicken, don’t do g-force” now. We then stopped for DW to spend a snack credit at Electric Umbrella on a plasticky but edible chocolate cupcake with nasty icing. From there it was a couple more rides before a quick pre-dinner drink at the Rose and Crown. Mine was a pint of black and tan (Bass and Guinness mix) ordered for the novelty of such a retro drink and also because this gets us 1/22 on the EPCOT t-shirt challenge! UK drink done

On that high we headed over to Chefs de France for dinner which I’ll post on Saturday, need to be up for EMH rope-drop at the Magic Kingdom tomorrow!

Thanks for the tip about the Negroni at Narcoosees . We have a meal planned there so I will definitely order one (or perhaps more).

Cramer Barrel looks tasty, it's not somewhere we have eaten at. You are correct the sausage gravy muck always looks inedible to me.

Your spreadsheet looks very similar to mine ha ha, what is with us dibbers and our plans?

I think your DD won the best looking sundae competition at Beaches and Cream, how cute was that with the little cherry nose and the oreo ears. Awesome!

Yacht club, I've always wanted to stay there, it has such a nice feel to it. I hope you have a wonderful time!

Cracker Barrell always seems a reliable source of decent food, and who can go wrong with a sundae from Beaches n Cream 😋

Your Yacht Club view is great, its similar to the one we had a few years ago. I loved sitting out on that balcony watching the world go by.
I found it way harder to keep my food report up to date at Disney than when offsite or at Universal.
Enjoy

Those sundaes look immense!

May have to pinch the mission space meme ... I don't do well with motion simulators and travel sickness so I will definitely be doing the green mission ... even that may make me green!

Looking forward to Chefs De France review X
