As for right now... any tips on staying awake until bedtime?!

So I’ve now been home for a whole week and one day... where does the time go?!

My plan is to get back into the report seeing as I’m already half way through it shouldn’t take tooooo long!

Thanks for everyone’s patience. Hopefully I’ll still have some readers despite the delay 😊

Day Seven - Putting Edge, Bubbalou’s Bodacious BBQ, Blue Man Group & Hash House a Go Go

We woke up at a decent time and decided to have breakfast at the hotel. We had the same food again so no photos because mushed up bananas really aren’t that appetising! 😂 We decided that since we had tickets for the Blue Man Group at 6pm we would fill our day with some little bits n bobs.

We started off with a swim. The pool opened at 9am and we were in not long after. We had the whole pool to ourselves for ages, except for when a Mum and Dad and little boy came into the pool area with the Son doing a photo shoot of the parents. It was cute but also made us laugh. There were some floats and balls which kept us occupied, Celine Dion was on the speakers (❤️) and I managed to win today’s holiday swimming race, which I’m very proud to say! We did backstroke and it’s usually front stroke which is not my strong suit 😂 does anyone else have holiday swimming races?! Or just us...?!

We got out as some other families were getting in and laid in the sun for a little while on a cute double lounger.

We left and got showered and ready for the day and we were soon on our way to Putting Edge up by the IDrive outlets. This is an indoor glow in the dark mini golf place. We bought a groupon last year for 4 people and when we went on our way to the airport it was closed! The price you paid for a groupon never expires so we used this and had to put $1 plus some change to cover the two of us. Looking online the normal price is $12.50 plus tax.

We got a glow stick bracelet each to match our ball colour and off we went!

This place is so fun! I definitely recommend especially when it’s super hot out. DP won but we both came in under par so we’re both winners?!

We were super close to Bubbalou’s so decided to get something for lunch. We’ve not been here before despite it being on our to do list for about 10 years 😵

I think I can safely say we’ve been missing out! The food here was absolutely delicious. We shared everything and it was all equally yummy.

We got a Texas brisket sandwich and a pulled pork sandwich basket which came with fries and bbq beans and a big (huge) Dr Pepper. Oh my god, everything was so good! The service was very warm and welcoming, the decor was cool and quirky and the food was excellent. The brisket was just melt in your mouth and the beans were so tasty with little meaty chunks in there.

We tried all of the sauces and enjoyed them all. The killer is hot but definitely still nice. It’s not crazy hot at all!

All this came to $22.01 including a tip which I though was incredible really.

We also picked up a little bottle of spices for cooking with at home. We love buying these from different places - it makes holiday last all year long.

We drove from there to Universal and parked up in the very first row of level 5 - we keep getting great parking spaces!

We walked down to the Blue Man Group theatre to collect our tickets; we got these for 100% free when purchasing our 14 day 3 Park Universal tickets from floridatix. We saw the show before about 7 or 8 years ago and probably wouldn’t have paid to see it again but we were game if they were complimentary.

We walked down to the BMG theatre box office and collected the tickets in no time at all. It was 4pm at this point so we had two hours before showtime. We decided to pop into Universal Studios as The Mummy only had a 25 minute queue so off we went!

I loved the new locker system - so quick and easy to use. My only criticism would be that the majority of the lockers are the tiny size and who has a bag that small at a theme park?! We definitely don’t!

Anyway the ride time was more like 15 minutes so we went again, this time it was about 5, so we went two more times 😂 The Mummy is definitely my favourite ride in this park.

We got over to BMG early and went inside not long after. Our seats were row C,seats 1 & 2 - aaaall the way to the side. As it got closer to show time it looked like there was a lot of better seats still empty. I asked the usher if there was anything more central still available, she went off to check and came back saying we could move to some better seats. I’ll show you on the photo. The seats we were moved to would have been almost $250 for the pair of us... ! Always ask if you want to move seats in a theatre - they will always try to accommodate you if possible, the worst out come is just being told ‘no’.

We liked the show but it wasn’t the best thing either of us have ever seen. My favourite part by a million miles is with the balls - if you’ve seen it you’ll know! If not; I don’t want to spoilt it!

We had the chance to give our feedback when we left (I’ve seen SO MANY people asking for feedback all over Universal this holiday - I love having the chance to voice my opinion).

HHN was now well underway and people were pouring into Universal Studios! We walked in the opposite direction and really enjoyed the atmosphere of Citywalk on a Saturday night.

I love how the Chocolate Emporium looks at night time 😍

We soaked up the atmosphere for a bit, especially a live band on the stage, but decided to eat elsewhere because it was just too busy.

We drove over to Hash House a Go Go to use our TravelZoo voucher.

I was a bit concerned with how empty it was considering it was a Saturday night but we still went in and hoped for the best!

Our server was very nice and friendly and got us some drinks to start - we were both so thirsty as it’s been soooo hot. DP had a Bud Light and I had a strawberry lemonade which was really strong so I added some water and enjoyed it much more.

We got some honey/buttery biscuits to start. We both had a little nibble but were saving ourselves for the main!

I was absolutely not ready for the size of this meal. It looks so much smaller in the photos. I had the fried chicken and waffles ($18.99). There was two pieces of chicken and four(! ) waffles, some fried leeks and some syrup.

The chicken was really nicely seasoned and super crunchy. The waffles were way too doughy for my preference. I really enjoyed the flavour of the leeks. All in all I ate nearly all the chicken and a couple of bites of waffle. What a flop!

DP got the pork tenderloin sandwich ($16.99). This was huge! Literally as big as your head. Again the breading was really nice and crispy, the fries were really tasty and this can’t be faulted. DP ate most of the fries and about half of the sandwich too.

We declined boxes (and desserts!) and gave over our voucher. This covered the whole bill (the 1 cent showing is there if we want to tip by card, but we used cash). Can we for a second check out the tip suggestion percentages... 25%! I think that’s the first time I’ve seen a 25% tip be suggested to me 😂😂😂

All in all we paid $38 including tip for this meal which I think was definitely a good price. I don’t think we eat enough to make this worthwhile in future, but I wouldn’t be opposed to going back if we were traveling with someone who wanted to go. Also, there was absolutely zero atmosphere in there on a Saturday night which I was really surprised about. Maybe brunch is their busy time?

We left and went back to get to bed. Another brilliant day!

Wow, I'm glad you have updated - what a fabulous day and I have got loads of ideas, just from this one day alone. The golf looks great fun, hubby and I may well try that in Feb. We have had Bubbalou's on our list for a long time too, so we will definitely be checking that out. I am so surprised that HHAGG was empty on a Saturday night but, like you say, their busier time is probably breakfast and lunch. Still a bargain, even at $38, for the amount of food you get. I had the chicken and waffles last time we went - I love how the bacon is baked right into the waffles. It is SO MUCH FOOD though.

I've never heard of bubbalous, looks yummy.

As a carb lover, pork tenderloin sandwiches drive me crazy. Who wants bread 1/4 the size of a sandwich filling?

Hash house a go go was quiet when we went in July too. We did enjoy our food though and like you used the voucher. The portions are scarily huge!
