31/12.

A slow start to the day as Dh, ds and I were out till 3am. For breakfast we walked over to the Boardwalk Bakery, man that place is heaven.

We chose 4 things to share. A doodle muffin - it looked deep fried and had a sort of crispy outside with cinnamon flavour but was a normal muffin inside - very very nice.

A hot cinnamon bun which was not what I expected as the topping tasted more buttery than sweet, I still liked it though.

A blueberry scone which was as expected and very nice.

Pumpkin bread which was my least favourite of the 4.
$16 for them all.

We had an early dinner booked so we just had some snacks. Ds and I shared a clam chowder with crackers and Dh had a cheese and fruit plate. $12

We had filled our drinks earlier at the Yacht Club and I was loving their bakery selection way more than the BC Marketplace.

Dinner was at Hollywood Brown Derby. We had about a 20 minute wait for our table, we weren’t bothered as everywhere was really busy due to it being New Year’s Eve.

To drink I had a grapefruit beer and Dh had a normal beer. Mil had a glowing watermelon lemonade. Ds had a fanta.

Lovely bread

Ds had the lobster and grouper cioppino, he loved this. It was packed with fish and seafood. Black Grouper and Lobster Cioppino - Big One Mussel, Fregola pasta, blistered tomatoes, red onions, fennel, poblano pepper, Fontina cheese, cioppino broth.

Plate cleared again.

Dh had the salmon, he enjoyed it but it wasn’t that big. Faroe Island Salmon , - saffron potato silk, Beluga lentils, tomato confit, watercress, crispy capers.

I had the chicken which I was a bit worried it would be boring but it was far from it and was really tasty. Bell & Evans Chicken Breast - pancetta, guajillo pepper, tomato stuffing, roasted fingerling potatoes, seasonal mushrooms, romanesco, sun-dried tomato sauce.

Mil had the pork chop, she didn’t like the stuff on top and hated the sauce. Charred Cheshire Pork Chop - Yukon Gold Smashed, Asparagus, Maker's Mark Bourbon, Mustard Glaze, Apricot Jam. I offered to swap but she didn’t want to and she ate the pork and said it was nice, I’m not sure she meant it though.

For dessert we ordered two of the mini selections. You can choose any 3 mini desserts from their menu for $11.

Mil wanted the cheesecake and I wanted the banana cake and we agreed to share the grapefruit cake - all 3 were lovely

Ds and Dh had the crumble thing with the banana cake and cheesecake.

A pricey one oop but a lovely meal and cheaper than BOG. $215

DH and I headed into Epcot later for the New Year fireworks and had 2 beers in Germany $20.

We also fancied a snack but all the festival food places were closed. We left about 12.45am and walked to the Boardwalk for snack. Tonight was the night. Joe’s had jalapeno cheese pretzels. There was a fair line as it was hogmany and the party on the village green at the Boardwalk was just finishing off and Joe's is generally a bar. It was tense as there was only a few left. Dh got to the front and ordered and the cm said Happy New Year, have that on me! So not only did I get my pretzel but it was pixie dusted to me!

Total $263

Thanks, we stayed at Riverside for our honeymoon nearly 18 years ago when it was still Dixie Landings. Looking forward to French Quarter resort and food.

I’m sure a free Jalapeño Pretzel must be a good omen for 2019 👍🏻

I was pleasantly surprised by the crowd levels for the most part, not sure what I was expecting after reading all the facebook posts of how horrible it is over Christmas. Hope you all enjoyed yourselves too. Its horrible being back in the dark and cold, I'm missing the sunshine too!

Look at me, doing more than one entry in the same night

1/1/19

After another late night another slow start was in order. The weather was glorious so breakfast by the pool it was. We filled the mugs and collected baked goods from the Yacht Club qs.

2 Banana and chocolate bread to share. These were very nice.
A cinnamon bun and a blueberry scone. All fresh and delicious, $17.

After some splashing around in the pool we were hungry again but had a relatively early dinner booked at MK so we got some food from Hurricane Hannah’s to share. We had the bacon cheeseburger, standard quick service food, nice enough but nothing to write home about. We also had the grilled chicken sandwich – served on a pretzel roll with spicy mustard. This was nice but not particularly easy to eat divided in to 4 and dh thought it was too mustardy (I’d take this with a pinch of salt from the man who makes sandwiches with cheese and ham and nothing else ever!) The waffle fries were best bit of this whole meal. $26

We ended up waiting a while for the bus to MK, we were supposed to be there right at the start of our FP window for 7D and then straight to dinner at Skippers, this was not looking likely so luckily we were able to modify our adr on the app and it offered me one 45 minutes – perfect.

We waited over 30 minutes at Skippers for our table, I asked at the desk about 25 minutes in how much longer we would be as I was going to attempt to rearrange a FP, the CM told me not to worry and to just let my server know we had or were likely to miss a fp and they could add an anytime one which indeed they did.

Ds and DH are great fans of Club Cool and were happy to see the Melon Frosty is still on the menu here so they had that. Mil and I had diet coke and sprite.
We had already decided just to order main courses. Dh had the steak, he had loved it here before and he was glad he had ordered it again. Don’t know why my picture is so blurry.

Mil and I had the chicken, I think by this point Mil had had enough of adventurous food and was not a lover of the sauce that was on the rice, dh offered her his steak but she did not want to swap. I assured her that this was not the sauce she hated before and persuaded her to try the chicken. She agreed and said she liked the chicken but was convinced the rice sauce was different, I didn’t think so but you never know. Anyway, I loved the chicken.

Ds spotted the spiced lamb chops on the menu and was really keen to have this. He loved it, not quite as much as the ones at BOG.

Our server was really dry and full of really bad jokes. I really like Skippers and would totally recommend it.
Dinner was $136 so a fair bit less than the night before.

I’m not going to count the dessert party in my food costs for today as we would have paid that regardless of being on the dining plan or not. So total for today $177.

Well impressed with DS's adventurous choices! Love the boardwalk bakery but the baked good which caught my eye in the update was the banana chocolate bread which looks well nice. Thanks for the updates

All looks great again!

So glad you got your jalapeño pretzel, was it as nice as I hope it’s going to be? I’ve not tried one yet but really want too. 😋

I’m also debating about booking skippers canteen? It’s either there or liberty tree tavern, have you tried there? Can’t decide!

Did you say that you’d just done your adr choices for your next trip? Hopimg to hear all about them if you are doing another food report?

2 updates in one night, what a treat

Glad you finally got your pretzel - and for free too - Brucie bonus!

I am so wanting to do a Christmas/New Year trip now. Hubby is going to stop me reading the Dibb, I think lol

The food at Skippers looked nice, I have heard such bad reviews, it's never been on my radar. What was the sauce that was on the chicken?
