Oh no, I am so disappointed with your Tony’s experience. So many issues! Shocked that after you requesting a fresh steak, you were still brought the original one. This would have really irked me. I don’t really think a round of drinks is sufficient when an entire meal has been left, and it shouldn’t have been down to you to point out to the server you were unhappy, a full plate should have had him asking questions. Who is going to return a different day and request the promised Fast Passes?! Either give you them there or then, or don’t offer it. And to top it all off, I can’t believe you didn’t get the parade tickets, very sad for you, as the view is really great. I really do think it is important to complain about poor experiences there and then, and it saddens me to see things not resolved properly when someone does.
I did laugh at you saying the steak looked like roadkill, I quite agree, but I am glad Nev enjoyed it. So sorry Tony’s disappointed. The Tiffins bread service is very poor in comparison to Sanaa. Glad you enjoyed your main though, I am still regretting that no-one ordered the Surf and Turf on our visit. Very, very jealous of the After Dark event, riding FoP back to back would be a dream. |

Yes you are right, they didn't rectify things properly at Tony's, sometimes I push it but Nev doesn't really like a fuss and so other times we vote with our feet and decide they will be without our return custom.
I am sure we could have got our parade tickets had we demanded them, but we no longer felt like it and the parade is not a huge deal to us. We don't usually make a point of doing parades, shows or fireworks but sometimes stop and watch for a few minutes if we happen to be there. We decide to go back to our hotel after Tony's as the queues at MK were really long and there were no fast passes. We ended up with an enjoyable bottle of something in the Ale & Compass lounge instead. I didn't realise the Saana bread service was superior to Tiffins, I think we have had it in the Nomad Lounge in the past and that was really good so we assumed it would be the same but definitely wasn't. |

Claudette. Shame on your Husband for not getting you a sausage roll.
Tony's. The food does look nice and I would have eaten all of the courses you ordered - not in one go I dont mean. However lets be honest the whole meal should have been comped. I wouldn't have paid. Tiffins. A totally different experience. Spinach dip, what can you say. The Surf n Turf look excellent. I have never seen fish done that way, was it boned? Finally cannot believe how well you managed the AK later that evening. Back to back FOP, well done.

Yes are right it should have been comped, I was surprised they didn't. I think I would have refused to hand over my hard cash for my main course, however as it was a dining credit, it felt different, although I know it isn't the point.
The fish was not boned, I think half the fun is dealing with it, but as I say, Nev did not look thrilled at tackling it so I saved the day. I really recommend the after dark events, there was one on at MK the same night, but I chose AK as I thought the Pandora area would be fabulous at night, and it was. The only trouble with back to back FOP was that you do need to walk the whole route and go through preamble again, I wish I could have just stayed in my seat! Same with Everest, most rides had maybe ten people on, but still had to get off and walk around again to get back on. First world problems, I know. |

Day 10: Cape May Cafe breakfast
After our big night out last night, I booked a very leisurely 9:40am breakfast at nearby Cape May Cafe for this morning's breakfast. We are both very unlikely to hog the attention of any character but we like a breakfast buffet and a quick photograph with the characters.
I did not want to be taking photographs of the buffet selections, so what follows is just our plates, we had two each although our first plate was so similar that I only took pictures of mine. We also got a breakfast mimosa each, included on the dining plan, Nev had the traditional orange whilst I opted for the sparkling wine with mango popping balls. I have read a few times that Cape May Cafe is a more chilled out buffet breakfast, which appealed, however it seemed pretty loud and lively to us. I don't think I have a lot of comments on the buffet, other than it was really good with a wide selection of choices. The strangest thing we saw (and got) was brussel sprouts... for breakfast? Nev thinks that come dinner time, heads will roll when they realise somebody used up the sprout allocation on breakfast. There were four characters, Minnie, Goofy, Daisy and Donald. The first three all stopped and spent a suitably brief but engaging tine with us and had photographs. Donald was a bit stuck up though, he walked past twice and only waved. Just as well as Nev hates Donald Duck with a passion. An overall 7.5 from us. |

Looks great. Sprouts for breakfast that's unusual but they would definitely be on my plate.

Pity about Tony’s I really felt like they’d turned things round last year but consistency is sadly lacking.
Tiffins looks good though, as does Cape May. 😀 |

Claudette. We only have toast for breakfast but the Cape May one does look very nice I must say.
They must have a huge factory churning out those Mickey waffles. My Wife loves those mango popping balls. Most different.

Day 10: Yachtsman Steakhouse dinner
This is one I had been really looking forward to and I bought Nev a new shirt to wear for the occasion.
Our reservation was at 8:15pm and we had a quick Sauvignon in the Ale & Compass lounge before wandering round the corner to the Yachtsman. We started off with bread served with butter and a whole roasted garlic which was lovely. For starters I ordered the Crab Louis revisited and Nev chose a lobster bisque again, he seems to have developed a taste for that. For main I was keen for us to try the 32oz porterhouse steak for two, I saw somebody else had this in their food report a little whiles back and made my mind up then! The steak is served with beef fat potatoes and a choice of side, we asked to swap the potatoes for truffle mac and cheese and we selected the braised onions as our side. Nev really enjoyed his bisque and his only comment was that the crouton, being a long strip of bread was a bit odd, but didn't spoil anything. I really enjoyed my crab too, perfect size portion and good presentation. We ordered the porterhouse rare and that is how it turned up. It came with a bone marrow on the plate too, which I have now seen is an enhancement on the menu, so that was a bonus. Well it was a bonus for Nev who ate it all, I have never tried bone marrow as it doesn't appeal. The truffle mac and cheese was also a hit, Nev doesn't normally like truffle but he still enjoyed this and in fact mac and cheese is another thing he has developed a taste for on this trip. I am delighted by this development as I love it and like making it at home but he hardly ever wants it. Our side of onions, perfectly complimented the meal by adding some sweetness. No desserts for us again. Overall a solid 9 for service and food. We wondered whether it should be a 10 like the Palm, but decided that the superb cookery of the steak at the Palm put it ever so slightly ahead. Edited at 03:22 PM. |
