For everyone interested in the Halloween mug, they had loads at the Sassogula Floatworks at our resort (POFQ).

Here’s some close ups for you...

Hope it’s still available when you all want it!

It's our first time staying onsite and therefore our first time on a dining plan. So looking forward to all the food, I'm trying to lose a bit of weight prior to going so I don't come back to no clothes fitting. I'm in awe of your weight loss, fantastic. I think I'm most looking forward to the snacks, food and wine so we can snack around the world and cocktails look forward to your updates... this is a fantastic thread, thankyou

I don’t think they are in short supply, it is portably the mug I have seen the most so far. It is the one I got too.

I was exactly the same looking forward to all the snacks and food and wine too... I blame social media for tempting us with all the lovely food. I’m sure you will love staying on site, we definitely do.. although we do leave the bubble sometimes just for some normality! Thanks for following and your comments

Thank you! Yes Blaze is great, although I do want to try Polite Pig at Disney Springs too.

Day 1 - Magic Kingdom

Hi everyone

I thought I would update my day so far whilst we are sitting around the pool.

I woke up a couple of times in the night, wrote up part 2 of yesterday’s report, and eventually managed to get to sleep waking up at 5am.

I bought some Yorkshire tea from home so DH made himself a drink in the room and I finished my lemonade whilst getting ready.

We had quite a wait for the bus but we arrived in Magic Kingdom around 7.45am.

We had some photopasses before heading into Main Street Bakery to spend our first snack credits.

I had a butter croissant and a strawberry açai refresher and DH had a cinnamon swirl bun and a latte.

We were going to pick three items each and use a quick service credit but when it came to choosing we weren’t struck on a third item each so just used the snack credits instead.

4 snack credits used.

We came out of the bakery and turned left and were sat on our own for a good few minutes on some small tables and chairs. It was very picturesque...

We had a wander around the shops along Main Street and rode several rides including the carousel, mine train (which was only a 20 minute wait), buzz lightyear (where I scored a measly 1200! ), people mover, jungle cruise and big thunder mountain.

I’d heard good things about Big Top Treats so we had a wander in and picked up a lime and lemonade slushy. This was really refreshing, although it did keep freezing up. Had we sat in the sun for 5 minutes it would have melted enough.

1 snack credit used.

Notice my re-usable straw - we found these really handy today as the paper straws just disintegrate into nothing. We wash it out in the water fountains and I have some sandwich bags in my rucksack to put them in. A pack of 8 was $9.99 plus tax.

The park wasn’t too busy today (maybe because it’s MNSSHP tonight!) and it hasn’t been too hot either.. although we did stop to get a pineapple dole whip and a pineapple and vanilla swirl cup.

2 snack credits used.

The pineapple was tangier than I remember, but we enjoyed these sitting in the shade in the exit area of Tiki Room.

For lunch we headed to Pecos Bills before leaving Magic Kingdom. We both had the same here fajita platter and a sprite. The cost should have been $40 but we used 2 quick service credits.

We thought that the toppings bar wasn’t as good here as it used to be. We seem to remember a greater choice such as pickles, but it was just salad, sour cream, cheese and salsa.

There was two types of chicken - diced and shredded chicken with rice, beans, onions and 3 mini wraps.

It was nice but I think we remember it being better?

We arrived back at the hotel around 1pm and our room hasn’t been cleaned yet. Interestingly we weren’t given the option yesterday of opting out of mousekeeping. We wouldn’t have chosen it anyway, but I thought we would be asked.

I’ve picked up some souvenirs already with our $200 gift card and we have $85 left hopefully enough for a spirit jersey.

We are going to have an hour or two by the pool now (we have our refillable mugs with Minute Maid lemonade in them) and hopefully our room will have been cleaned by the time we go back up. Then we are going to pop to Walmart, the outlets on International Drive and Teak neighbourhood grill for tea. I’ll update that section later tonight (hopefully).

Quick service credits - 38 - 2 used - new balance 36

Snack credits - 40 - 7 used - new balance 33.

Thanks for reading along everyone!

Can't wait to see which burgers you choose at Teak. Love that place. DH always chooses something off the secret menu.
Could just eat a dole whip float. Enjoy Teak.

Day 1 - Teak Neighbourhood Grill

We had a lovely couple of hours relaxing around the pool area, and by the time we got back to the room it had been cleaned. The cleaner had also left a little birthday cake made from towels and beads after seeing my birthday badge on the sideboard.. cute little touch!

We headed out to Walmart and spent around an hour picking up some goodies for home, some bits I needed, and some make up bits.

Here’s the sweetie haul...

We then headed to the Outlets on International Drive. No food or drink we’re consumed but we did buy from bath and body works and I picked up a Disney T-shirt I wanted in the Vineland outlet yesterday but they didn’t have my size.

After wandering around the outlets our stomachs were calling so we headed out to Teak Neighbourhood Grill. I saw this place on Scotishnellies report.. we never would have visited if it wasn’t for seeing it on the Dibb.

It was set in a really pretty square and when we arrived there were families with children practicing to ride their bikes on the pathways.

When we entered we asked for a table for two inside and were sat two seats away from the restrooms.

This place is not somewhere you visit for a romantic meal, but, if you only visit one place you wouldn’t normally this has to be it... the food and service were both exceptional.

This is the ‘normal’ menu (hope you can see it) -

We were brought two cups of water and I ordered a lemonade and DH ordered a JDubs passion wheat beer (he loved this so much the first one went down rather quickly so he ordered a second).

I asked if we could see the underground menu. I’d read about this on Instagram. They change the password every month but publish it on there.

The menu came in a box with a lock and key which we had to open to retrieve the menu.

I’m not sure if the menu changes, but this is what was inside the box -

To start we ordered 8 chicken wings with BBQ sauce These came out quite quickly and were delicious. Loved them.

For our burgers DH ordered The Pig which came with smoked ham, smoked bacon, pulled pork, which cheddar cheese and onion jam.

I ordered the Harry Carry which came with BBQ sauce, cheddar cheese and onion frizzles. Both burgers were served on pretzel buns.

We were asked how we wanted them cooked (well done for both) and what side we wanted.. DH has Teak chips and I had garlic fries, we also ordered a coleslaw to share.

The photos of the burgers absolutely do not do them justice, this was probably one of the very best burgers I have ever eaten.. They were both cooked beautifully, they weren’t greasy at all, the toppings were just the right amount to compliment the burger but not overpower it as it was definitely the star of the show. They really were exceptional, and I have to thank Scotishnellies report for showcasing Teak- we loved it, so thank you!

Here’s DH’s -

And mine -

And the coleslaw to share -

We just about managed to finish the burgers off leaving some fries, chips and coleslaw.

The manager came over a couple of times and chatted to us. When we came in he asked how we knew about the place and asked if it was from the Dibb. Great service.

Just as we had asked for the bill a man came around asking if we wanted to join in the quiz. We declined, quizzing isn’t our forte at home let alone in the states but if you were in a big group I can imagine it would be lots of fun.

Our food came to $52.47 and worth every cent is was. We left $65 with tip.

As DH had drunk two pints it was up to me to drive us home and as I’m now reporting we obviously made it back in one piece

So that’s our day 1 done!

It’s been a great day and I feel like we have been here much longer than just one night.

We are having a change of plan tomorrow, we had planned Typhoon Lagoon and Magic Kingdom, but we have changed that now to shopping and Magic Kingdom.

Thanks everyone for reading along and commenting.

Until tomorrow

Great start to your holiday... food looks fab at Teak. However, looks like the minimum 20% tip is sneaking in, that's Teak removed from next weeks list for me.
