Happy belated birthday. What a great day, we love Mannys too. We first discovered it in 2013 when we stayed at southern dunes, Haines city. We tried the one off the 192 when we visited in 2017 and it was just as good.

Thanks very much! I don’t think it’s too popular with tourists, as there never seem to be very many in when we visit. I guess other places get recommended more but we do love it there and try to visit once per trip!

I feel like you have been on holiday for ages now! I’m busy catching up on everything and it sounds like you are having a great time. Can’t believe I’m talking about mugs again, but I do like your refillable mugs the designs look fab. You have definitely talked me into trying Cracker Barrel for breakfast. I love that you had to open the secret menu with a key, Teaks has been on my to do list for the last few years but I didn’t realise it was at more than one location, I talked myself out of going this year as I thought it was more out of the way!
I wonder if they have changed the recipe for the beignets as a few people haven’t been that keen on them. Maybe you need to try them again at the end of the holiday just to see if it was your tastebuds changing, I think mine definitely did I couldn’t stomach anything really greasy at first! I would recommend the strawberry sauce if you do fancy a second go, I think it made them taste much better.
Your birthday bus ride sounds magical, I’m pleased you enjoyed your day. Looking forward to following the rest of your trip.

It feels like we have been away ages to us too, but in a good way. I think it’s because we have been more or less splitting our day into 3 so the days seem longer.

Mug talk is always allowed around here! We are loving the refillable mugs but also our bottled that we bought from TJMaxx on day 1 which we fill up with bottles water to take to the parks with us. We bought a clip from Magic Kingdom and clip it onto the rucksack. It’s been great (and the bottle design is really pretty too!)

Definitely try Teak if you get chance, it was great! Maybe I will try the beignets at the end of the trip once my taste buds are used to the food...thanks for the tip about the strawberry sauce

Thanks for following along!

Day 6 part 1 - Hollywood Studios and Disney Springs

Good evening everyone,

Thanks to everyone who has taken the time to comment on my report, it’s good to know it’s worth my time writing up, and annoying DH photographing everything before he’s allowed to touch it!

I woke up fairly early again today, just after 6am... I can’t seem to sleep in for some reason. We had a reservation at Oga’s for 9.45am so weren’t in any particular rush, but we arrived at Hollywood Studios around 8.40am.

Toy Story Mania was showing a 10 minute wait but in reality it was a walk on. I’m glad we got on it as our tier one fastpass was for Slinky Dog.

By the time we had riden and had some PhotoPass pictures taken it was time to head into Oga’s.

We were given the rules as we entered, two drinks per person, no more than 45 minutes in there and keep your spot as if you move it may be given to someone else.

It was quite dark inside, and had almost like a party atmosphere.. you wouldn’t think it was just after 9.30am.

We were given a standing spot at the bar on the opposite end to where the ‘dj’ is.

DH ordered a latte and the rising moons overnight oats and I ordered the blue bantha.

The oats and my drink came out really quickly, and the latte wasn’t too far behind.

I didn’t dislike the blue milk, but I wouldn’t want any more than one glass of it. I’m finishing it hard to actually describe what it tasted like as there wasn’t really a distinct flavour. Probably due to the colouring when I asked DH what he thought it tasted like he said Lenor! Not sure how he knows as far as I am aware he’s never drank any detergent!

The cookie on top was very crisp - watch those teeth. The bottom part tasted like a traditional shortcake biscuit and the icing on top although there wasn’t loads of it was a nice addition.

The overnight oats was only a small pot and the fruit on top looked very pretty. DH said it tasted like a combination of blueberry yoghurt and oats and a nice mixture of sweet and sour. He would have it again. His latte was nice too.

We had a quick look around before leaving, we were probably in there around 20 minutes or so. The bill came to $26.63 and we left $31.

We had a wander around galaxy’s edge but we didn’t queue to do any of the rides.

We did pick up a coke and a Diet Coke bottle to take home with us. We paid out of pocket for these ($12) as the card reader to use snack credits wasn’t working.

I want to take these back as gifts (with the drink in) and I’ve read that they should be ok in the hols, so fingers crossed that’s the case?

DH’s thoughts on Galaxy’s edge - he said it was realistic, the crowds were very low (surprisingly), there was plenty to see. He liked it. I’ve never seen Star Wars to haven’t a clue my only comment would be how quiet it was, I thought we would need the Oga’s reservation just to get into the land, but that wasn’t the case and it seemed more crowded in the other parks compared to this.

On my list of must do snacks in Hollywood’s studios was the num num cookie from the neighbourhood bakery.

This was warm when it was handed to it, however, we took some time to try and find a bench so by the time we were eating it the chocolate bits weren’t gooey like I’ve seen in some photos.

It was very sweet, DH and I shared it and still had to pack some up in our zip lock as to bring home with us. It tasted like you were eating pure sugar. As with a lot of things I’m glad we got it, as I’ve seen and heard a lot about it, but it’s not something I would rush to order again.

We decided not to eat in Hollywood Studios but to head over to Disney Springs instead.

No buses run to Disney Springs from the parks until after 4pm so we headed back to our hotel then to Springs, we were lucky with the buses and didn’t have to wait more than 5 minutes for either.

We did some shopping in sugar boo (I’d seen this online and thought I would like it, but it was better then I imagined. Full of things I would call nick nacks) and also the Coca Cola store where we picked up a few bits.

DH chose lunch and he decided on D Luxe burger.

There were about 3 people in front of us in the queue but we got served fairly quickly and found a table easily enough.

You can have a burger and a drink for a quick service credit here. You can ordered a regular fries for a snack credit.

DH chose the bbq burger with a salted caramel shake and I chose the cheeseburger with a strawberry shake. We ordered a regular fries as a snack credit. We both had our burgers cooked well done.

We were given a pager and told to sit down and our drinks and burgers would find us.

It was a minute or two before the shakes came out.

The shakes were thick and creamy and quite filling. DH’s was a strong caramel flavour which I usually like but it was a little too much for me. I’m glad I ordered the strawberry which I didn’t find too sweet. If I’d have known I perhaps would have asked for no whipped cream on mine but in the end it melted into the shake and was ok.

The burgers didn’t take long to come out at all and they tasted as good as they looked.

This was DH’s which came with cheese, bacon, bbq sauce and onion. He said it tasted flame grilled, the bacon was crispy and the bbq sauce sweet. He really enjoyed it. It was a close second to the Teak burger.

Mine came with cheese, tomato, lettuce and two huge gherkins (which I loved!)

I would agree either DH that my burger was really tasty. It was just the right amount of everything, and it wasn’t greasy at all.

I did also really love the fries. They were skin on and whilst they were actually quite crisp/hard, they tasted delicious. I’d order them as a snack credit on their own if I fancied something like that in Disney Springs. They were the regular portion for a snack credit but there was plenty for the two of us due to the size of the burgers and how filling the shakes were.

This afternoon we too the car out and did some more shopping along Vineland Road. We visited Ross Dress for Less (bargains were some elf eye shadows (3) with a brush for $3.99 and 2 x 2 set of headbands for $2.99), Publix (odour spray for Dah’s trainers ) and TJMaxx (bargain was a Nine West bag and purse set for $28).

Our feet have been killing us today so we headed back to the hotel around 4pm and sorted some of our purchases out into different cases. I also FaceTimed my parents to check in on them.

I finished off the num num cookie, which tasted just as sweet!

It’s now 6.30pm and I’m going to have a shower and we are back to Disney Springs tonight I think for another Blaze pizza.

I’ll update that later.

Thanks for reading

Day 6 part 2 - Disney Springs

We left the room later than we have been and it was nice to relax a little.

We caught the boat over to Disney Springs and commented on the way how much we love staying at French Quarter. It feels so relaxed and it’s closeness to Disney Springs is a real winner for us.

We headed for the Coca Cola store again as I had shown my mom a Christmas ornament I’d bought earlier today and she loved it so much I had to go back and get her one.

From there we headed to Blaze Pizza. We both ordered a create your own pizza, DH had a light draft beer and I had a blood orange lemonade.

I tried to take some photos of the toppings that were available...

We sat outside to eat this time which was a lot more relaxing rather than the person behind the counter continuously shouting peoples names out.

DH had classic sauce, mozzarella, chicken, bacon, onion, mushroom, spinach, pepper, olives and oregano on his pizza. He also had some bbq glaze when it was ready.

I had classic sauce, mozzarella, chicken, red onion, mushrooms, green and red pepper and fresh basil. I also had the bbq glaze.

The pizzas were great once again and we ate them all. The base was crisp and the toppings were all generous and tasted great.

I’m not sure whether the lemonade is refill or not but I saw a couple of people top theirs up so DH went to get me a top up before we left.

We headed out towards the boat again, but I stopped at Goofy’s Candy Store for a make your own treat on the way.

I’m too full to eat it right now so it’s staying in it’s packaging and I’ll sample it tomorrow.

Here were some of the items on offer behind the counter

Here’s the instructions and my choice...

This is my treat being made (in case you can’t read the slip I had a rice crispy treat, milk chocolate covering, M&M and white chocolate drizzle).

The lady put my treat in the fridge, and then forgot about it. I had to hang around the the counter before she asked me if she could help and I reminded her my treat was in the fridge.

It looks like it was worth the wait.. I’ll let you know how it tastes tomorrow.

Here’s an update on the credits we have left...

We have 3 days left, tomorrow we are going to Typhoon Lagoon and on the evening back to Food and Wine Festival. We were going to eat breakfast at Denny’s but have both agreed the breakfast in the hotel is probably just as good so to ensure we use up our quick service credits we’re going to have breakfast at the hotel.

Thanks for reading everyone

Day 7 part 1

Hi everyone,

I FINALLY managed to sleep in and didn’t wake up until 8.15am! Woo hoo.

I did wake up a couple of times in the night but I resisted looking at my phone so I think that helped. When I did wake up all I could smell was my rice Krispy treat as it was on the side by my bed, so that was the first thing I dived into when I woke up.

I ate the two ears and it was delicious. The Krispy treat was chewy but in a good way. There were more than enough m&m’s on there.. it definitely a good use of a snack credit!

We decided rather than go to Dennys to use our quick service credits on breakfast in the hotel.

We chose the same as last time so I’ll insert the same photos...

The pancakes were still too much and I only ate two. I asked for the berries on the side and they only gave me a small pot this time. I had bacon and sausage with it and gave them to DH to go with his breakfast.

We were headed to Typhoon Lagoon this morning and arrived at 10.30am. When we first arrived we were told the lazy river was closed but it opened up within 15 minutes.

A few people (Brits) approached us about the lockers. For those who don’t know they are $10 for small and $15 for a large (which isn’t that large), you go up to the booths and pay your money and set a 4 digit pin code then you are given a locker number.

We didn’t buy any food or drink at Typhoon Lagoon we did look at the menu for Typhoon Tilley’s but nothing really appealed to us so we decided to catch a bus to Disney Springs and have lunch there.

As it turned out a bus to our resort was waiting for us so we took that and dropped our bags off first.

We caught the boat to Springs and decided upon Wolfgang Puck Express for lunch.

You can have an entree and a drink with the quick service dining plan.

DH chose the salmon and I chose the half roast chicken with mashed potato.

To drink DH had a IPA can of beer and I had a Minute Maid lemonade fountain drink.

We were given a number to put on our table and told our food would take around 10 minutes.

A young lady came over with some knives and folks. She had a $5 note sticking out of her top pocket (none of the other servers did).. she asked if we were on the dining plan, we said yes the quick service plan.. she then explained that service was not included in this plan and should be left separately. We noted that none of the other servers gave this speech to anyone, and lots of people left without leaving a tip.

Our meals were brought over by a different lady to the one who had given us the tip lecture. It took around 15 minutes for the meal to come out.

DH absolutely loved his salmon, the skin was slightly crisped so it gave it more flavour. He said the cauliflower purée was nice and had a hint of tarragon. The tomatoes were very sweet and he enjoyed the broccoli too, it wasn’t soggy. He thought it was one of the nicest pieces of salmon he had had.

Mine wasn’t as good, the mashed potato was quite lumpy, it had some small whole pieces of potato in it. The chicken wasn’t dry, but it didn’t really have much flavour and it was quite greasy. Not the best choice.

When DH checked his wallet he only had a $20 bill so after all the chat about the service we ended up leaving without leaving a tip.

We decided to head to Ghiridelli for an ice cream.

When we first got in we picked up some menus and were a little confused as none of the items had the snack credit logo next to them. When we asked at the till we were told anything up to the value of $5.79 would be a snack credit or we could have a sundae and a drink for a quick service credit.

DH chose the cherry sundae and a large latte. I had the salted caramel sundae. As DH was having a large latte there wasn’t any monetary value left for me to have a drink. I didn’t mind.

We were given a table number and sat outside. The ice creams were out within a couple of minutes.

DH had his in a waffle cone.

His latte was defrauded large.

DH enjoyed his ice cream, he compared it to Thornton’s ice cream at home.

I know that I ordered the salted caramel sundae, but the overpowering taste to mine was salt.. it was a little too much for me and spoilt the sundae (in my opinion)

If we visited again I would choose something else.

Not the best value for two quick service credits, but it was nice to sit outside and watch the world go by for half an hour or so.

We have come back to the room now for an hours rest and to get ready for Epcot tonight where we will be tackling the food and wine festival again. We will be working our way around clockwise tonight whereas we started anti clockwise last time.

I’ll make some notes on my phone as we eat and post then in a report later tonight when we get back.

Until then
