The Elephant Ear disappointed me as well, not that there was anything wrong with is but I expected a moist danish-style pastry instead of the dry crispy one. I was quite happy with the Cheshire Cat tail though!
As for bags, I swear by the belt bag I used last time, mainly because I can't stand straps on my shoulders or across my back if I'm sweaty. My OH is happy to have a bag though so he can take the bigger things while I just have phone, cards, tissues etc.

Be Our Guest
As we were going to be in Fantasyland Be Our Guest was the logical choice for lunch. I had to rely on Mousedining to help me out with grabbing an ADR. Time slots seemed to appear almost every night, but they would always been gone by the time I woke up, finally with 39 days to go I hit the jackpot. I highly recommend Mousedining if you’re on the hunt for an ADR. Be Our Guest was another piece of Unfinished Business as we cancelled last year. This was our third time eating lunch here, both previous visits we have been disappointed. We do seem to be in the minority and I always thinks the food looks delicious in pictures so I wanted to try again. I was sad to find that the soups were no longer available as a snack credit, and I am also sad to see that the Potato and Leek soup is no longer on the menu. You can see the menu here: disneyworld.disney.go/en...t/menus/lunch/ I had pre-ordered our food so we were directed to a shorter queue after checking-in. The restaurant was very busy, we wanted to eat in the Rose Room as the West Wing is too dark and the Ballroom too noisy, but the secret seems to be out about the Rose Room being quieter as we got the last table. I grabbed our cutlery and drinks, and was surprised at the lack of condiments on offer, no mayonnaise for the fries! They do serve ketchup with the meals. Shortly afterwards our food was brought to the table. We had decided to share to two dishes. French Dip Sandwich Served on a Baguette with Au Jus and Pommes Frites I had been looking forward to this, particularly as French Dip is one of Nik’s favourite dishes. We had last tried it two years ago and were underwhelmed, unfortunately this experience was much the same. The sandwich was packed with flavourful beef but even with the jus it felt dry. There is probably a little too much bread, I’d say that the baguette is more of a roll and I’d have preferred it to have more of a crunch rather than just seeming like a lump of dough. Previous incarnations of the sandwich have included Provolone, rocket and horseradish mayo, all of these were desperately missed and would have gone a long way to improving the sandwich. The prices keep going up but you are getting less for your money. On the plus side it is a generous portion and could easily be shared between two for lunch. We also had Croque Monsieur Grilled Sandwich of Carved Ham and Gruyere Cheese and Bechamel with Pommes Frites Once again, this is something I want to love but it just doesn’t work for me. I think if you are going to serve a grilled sandwich it has to be crispy; they are clearly producing these sandwiches en masse and keeping them under a hot lamp which means they go all soggy. The texture of the bread also means it struggles to hold the filling so this is quite difficult to eat. We both had a bite each and then turned our noses up at the rest. The last time were here we had the The Master’s Cupcake Chocolate Sponge Cake topped with Lumiere’s special ‘Grey Stuff I ate it all thinking that Nik wouldn’t want any as he doesn’t really do desserts, but he actually wanted to try the Grey Stuff and he hasn’t ever let me live this down haha. So now he was finally getting his cupcake. We used a snack credit for this. It’s nothing special, just a sponge cake topped with the grey stuff, which is like a cookies and cream cream. I so want to love Be Our Guest as Beauty and the Beast is my favourite Disney movie and it is so special to eat in Beast’s Castle but I think it’s off the table for us now. We might do QS breakfast in future but we wouldn’t pay OOP for it, nor will we be back for lunch or dinner. Sorry everyone, I know Be Our Guest is a favourite. Lunch came to $44.15, good value if you are on the QS dining plan but I think I’d have rather gone to the similarly prized Plaza for lunch. I had originally wanted to go there but Nik thought a 3-course lunch at 12pm on what was supposed to be our first day would have been silly. The cupcake came to $5.31. I got my dessert from Pinocchio Village Haus. The Tangled Wall Éclair Tangled Wall Éclair filled with Dulce de Leche and topped with White-Chocolate Whipped Cream This was amazing! I generally find Disney desserts disappoint but I loved this. I love cream cakes and miss our real dairy cream when I am in the States but the white chocolate cream was pretty similar. One of the top snacks of the trip. $6.38. I tried to Mobile Order this but it wasn’t working, and it didn’t the whole trip which was really annoying as found it really useful last year. |

Ooh no such a shame BOG dissapointed again. I do wonder if the really good experience we had with the food in there was down to it being an early lunch at 11.30, we had the whole rose gallery to ourselves at first! So maybe the food just hadn't been sat out. I loved the French dip but seeing as I'm against condiments like mayo maybe it's more suited to fussy people like me lol.

Shame about BoG. I have to agree about the Croque Monsieur but Marie likes it. Think we go just because we can, not because of the food!

We ate at BoG yesterday (2pm sitting so maybe too late in the service?) and it was rubbish! If we’d paid money for it, I’d have asked for a refund. We had the same meals as you plus the kid’s grilled cheese for Heath - his wasn’t even melted! Definitely agree that it sits under a heat lamp for way too long, our chips were awful. Plus it took a good 30mins for the food to arrive. I was pleased I got to see in the castle, the theming is fab - but I totally agree with you, the food is rubbish and I wouldn’t go back!
Your eclair looks delicious though so glad your lunch wasn’t a complete bust! |

Thank you, I'd forgotten about Cath Kidson. It is a shame there isn't going to be anymore Disney collaborations.
I definitely agree about never paying OOP for CRT. We did it OOP back in 2013 and IIRC it was around $50 each which I thought wasn't too bad for the experience of eating in the Castle but the current price is far to much. They all kept telling me Belle was their friend too. I think we would only do it again if on DxDP. I couldn't bring myself to use two credits on it otherwise. The bus wasn't so bad it was the security issues that held us up In the end we decided that we like being the masters of our own destiny, so even though the TTC is a pain we preferred having the car. Hope you've had a lovely holiday! Don't give him sympathy My portion was quite small too actually, although the picture does make it look bigger. I definitely wouldn't go hungry to Be Our Guest or you're sure to be disappointed. It's only just occurred to me that Nik's breakfast is almost identical to the Feast a la Gaston served for a QS credit! And you get fruit with that one! Sometimes I wonder how Disney get away with it. Oh I wish my OH would help with the carrying! Nik doesn't even take any hand luggage on planes. |

Such a shame you were disappointed again with BoG but it can't be for everyone I suppose. As you know we really enjoyed our meals last October and again in May but everyone has different tastes. At least you know you gave it one last shot.
That eclair looks amazing and got to say I don't think I've seen it on any blogs at all so thank you, I've just popped it on our list! Xx

Against condiments
I think your experience was more than norm, people seem to love it and we are just being fussy, we much prefer the other QS in MK I think this will be us in future, we'll go because DP allows you too not because the experience is actually worth it I can't believe they didn't even get the fries right! Both times we have been my meal has essentially consisted of those. Sorry to hear you had a poor experience, it is especially bad when you are the planner and bigged something up to everyone else and then it's a bust. 30 minutes is much too long a wait for QS. |

I so wanted to love it, but you are right, it can't be for everyone and we have enough favourites haha.
I did feel a bit silly popping into Pinocchio's Village Haus just for a dessert but it had to be done. |
