Le Cellier
This one was one of my most anticipated meals. We ate here in 2013, thought it didn’t really live up to the hype and hadn’t been back since. Nik was really keen to go as back on our first DDP trip he didn’t eat steak so he wanted to try the famous Filet with Mushroom Risotto. You can see the menu here: disneyworld.disney.go/en.../menus/dinner/ Excuse the quality of the photos here, it’s quite dark in the restaurant. I didn’t like the much-lauded pretzel bread, I thought it was too hard and chewy. I know that’s the point so it’s just personal preference. The sour dough roll was nice. I thought the choice of starters was a bit underwhelming. I’m not a big salad fan unless it’s swimming in Caesar dressing so they were all out, although the Flavors of Fall Salad did sound interesting. We both ordered Canadian Cheddar Cheese Soup [i]Mosehead Pale Ale and Nueskes Applewood-smoked Bacon[/b] Nik loved this and cleared the bowl. I took one bite and was done. It was basically mature cheddar cheese melted and far too strong for me. In hindsight I should have ordered the mussels, I don’t remember noticing them on the menu. As much as Nik insisted, he was here for the steak, he was really here for the Poutine. This isn’t included with the Dining Plan and we paid extra for it. Le Cellier Beef Bouguignon Poutine Frenh-cut French Fries, Grueye, Beef Bourguignon Gravy, Gravy Aioli, Truffle This was lovely, hot crispy fries which held up well underneath all of the toppings. I didn’t like the beef though, it reminded me of a pie filling. We ordered the same main too. I really dithered about this as basically the entire menu appealed to me. On paper the Filet Mignon dish is my idea of food heaven, I knew that if I didn’t order it and I tried Nik’s it would be amazing and I’d regret it. Le Cellier Filet Mignon AAA Canadian Tenderloin, Mushroom Risotto, Asparagus-Tomato Relish, Truffle-Butter Sauce The verdict!? It was desperately lacking in seasoning, even the risotto needed a good dose of salt. I didn’t think much of the quality of the meat either. I think Nik just it was just okay; he was happy with the soup and the poutine. We also paid OOP for Loaded Boursin Mashed Potatoes. Another disappointment, I didn’t get any Boursin flavours from them. We didn’t order Mac & Cheese here, where we feeling okay!? For dessert, I ordered Maple Crème Brulee [i]Maple Whipped Cream, Shortbread Maple Leaf Cookie[/b] This was really nice, but it must be pretty tough to mess up crème brulee. Nik had Black Forest Trifle Almond Cream Panna Cotta, Chocolate Cake, Kirhwasser Macareated Cherries, Chocolate Sauce, Chocolate Gelato There are few things I love more in the world than Black Forest Gateau and Trifle, so combining them both was always going to be a winner. Great dessert, and a nice portion size too. We paid $26.63 for our OOP items and the dining plan covered the $223 cost of the meal. We left a $36 dollar tip. Regarding the restaurant itself, it was very noisy and didn’t feel very much like a Signature to us. We had a table next to the toilets so it felt very 'busy' with people passing every seconds. I really felt like I was dining in a theme park, which I didn’t at HBD the previous day. No complaints with the service but if we were shelling out $223 on a dining experience I want it to feel a bit more special and for the steak to taste nicer than one I could make myself. Sorry Lisa (sha9), I know it’s your fave. The snack credits took a battering today. Next, the plan goes out the window DxDP Daily Cost: $232.50 Actual Daily Spend: $377.10 DxDP Cost to Date: $912 Actual Cost to Date: $1,117.67 Table Service Credits: 25/78 Snack Credits: 17/52 Unfinished Business: 5/12 Tips: $131

It definitely didn't feel very magical! Thank you for reading xxx
Hahaha the first time we went to Chiquitos Nik asked for a burrito without rice and beans, I think they thought we were crazy. Future World is really rubbish for dining options in general! I am looking forward to the space restaurant opening. I'd definitely be more discerning with my choice of Food & Wine purchases if I was paying cash. I wish you could actually top up your snack credits! The QS breakfast options at the resorts definitely trump those in the parks for sure. Thank you for reading xxx Whilst it was a lovely gesture to clear my room charges it left me in a bit of a pickle because I'm still not happy with how the situation was handled, or that it was never actually resolved but I feel like I couldn't push any further because it would look like I wanted more when all I wanted was that they learn from the situation so it didn't happen to anyone else. I think the good thing about DxDP is that you stop worrying about the value of your credits as there's so many to get through, I totally understand your dilemma. Maybe it would be a possibility to just do a normal ADR without F! package and pay OOP for the kids meals? I love the F! seating but it's not a necessity. Thank you for reading! |

You know I’ve never had scallops and nearly had that dish from Coastal Eats but decided on the bass. Seeing the scallops in so many dining reports I’m mad I didn’t try them!
Such a shame about Le Cellier as it’s a favourite of ours we although I do agree about the Cheddar Cheese soup. Normally we find the filet a bit salty so I wonder if people have complained and they’ve pulled back too much? |

Aw I can totally understand your disappointed at how your problems were being handled - Im not surprised you were reduced to tears - it sounded so frustrating.
HBD looks nice and I think Ive eyed up that chocolate dessert before. Le Cellier on the other hand sounds a bit meh. I have the same issue with Heinz tinned spaghetti as you do with tomato soup - my dad gave us it every night for a fortnight once when my mum was in hospital - cant stand the smell or taste of it now! Had to laugh at Niks "big telly" comment! |

Shame about Le Cellier. We went last when it was 1 credit at lunch time and it was great. We’ve never been back but have toyed with the idea but it doesn’t sound great.

Crystal Palace
We’ve done Crystal Palace breakfast many times now, we missed it last year so this was another piece of Unfinished Business. I tried my best to take some buffet shots but it was pretty busy so I apologise for the quality. Breakfast Lasagna and Cinnamon Pull-A-Parts The lasagna isn't for me as I don't do bananas. The cinnamon pull-a-parts are nice, like little mini cinnamon rolls. Bakery section The maple turnovers were really nice but I've decided I don't like the mini bagels, they just crumble and as you can't toast them they are just not as a good as a full size one. Cereals Quite a bland selection of fruit Cheese, yogurts and smoked salmon Some more sweet stuff Toppings and oatmeal You may have noticed that some of the items in the pictures look in need of being replenished, unfortunately this was an issue throughout the breakfast, which was surprising as we've eaten many a buffet breakfast and never had this issue before. Pancakes and Grits Breakfast potatoes and Cheesy Potatoes Both really tasty. Biscuits and Gravy Breakfast Pizza, and more Potatoes Philly Cheese Steak Eggs and Plain Old Scrambled Egg Sausages and bacon Pooh's Puffed French Toast and Mickey Waffles I love the crispy French Toast, it's like a really yummy donut. As you see a bit of a poor show for us today at the buffet. I think we've fallen out of love with Crystal Palace, it felt very generic with not many options. We were so keen to get going that we didn't even see all of the characters. Breakfast came to $87.33 and whilst fine on DDP we wouldn't pay OOP for it. We left a $17 tip. Adventureland was our destination for today and I couldn't resist Aloha Isle without a line! I didn't bother asking Nik if he wanted anything, he was having somewhere whether he liked it or not. Redd's Revenge Dole Whip Strawberry soft-serve, Fanta Strawberry and a Chocolate Pirate Hat $7.44 Citrus Swirl Cup $6.38 The verdict was that the Redd's Revenge was really good even though it looks as though it's going to put you into a food coma. The Citrus Swirl Cup was a bit too tart for my liking. Later in the morning we tried to catch Golden Oak Outpost so I could try their Loaded Waffles fries but they were closed Rix Sports Bar & Grill We were keen to try more of the restaurants that CSR had to offer so we chose Rix Sports Bar for lunch. You can see their menu here: disneyworld.disney.go/en...rts-bar/menus/ We were really excited to eat here as that menu is right up our street. Queso Nachos Fresh Made Corn Tortilla Chips with House Made Queso Blanco, Roasted Pablano Salsa, Scallions, Guacamole and Sour Cream Rix Wingers Buffalo, Asian, Seasame Ginger, BBQ, Chipotle Honey You can have these boneless if you wish. We shared both of these. The Nachos were great. We couldn't believe the portion size of the Boneless Wings. We had the buffalo ones and these packed a real punch. Queso Fundido House-blended Queso Blanco, Chorizo, Caramelized Onions, Poblano Peppers, and Monterey Jack Cheese It was a mistake to order this. I was chorizo-ed out by now and the flavour of it was overpowering here. This was also really difficult to eat as it was so messy. French Dip Shaved Prime Rib in Natural Jus piled on a Sourdough Baguette with Provolone Cheese and Horseradish Crème served with choice of Waffle-cut Fries, Sweet Potato Fries, Green Apple Cabbage Slaw, Half Rix Salad, or Goat Cheese Salad Be Our Guest, this is our idea of a French dip. Only 51 cents dearer than BOG's version and far superior. We took our desserts to go and never got around to eating them. We had a Key Lime Pie and Chocolate Cake, they looked tasty enough, especially the key lime pie. I didn't snap a picture until they have been in the dessert graveyard (aka our resort fridge) for a few days. Our server was the same one who served us as the old Las Ventanas restaurant when we stayed at CSR in 2017, he is super, so efficient and doesn't miss a beat. Lunch cost $92.21 with an $18 tip. Very pricey but if we weren't on DxDP we'd have still eaten here but probably just shared a few appetisers, the menu itself is quite reasonably priced and holds up well against QS pricing. It's great to have a resort TS that is open for lunch as most aren't. It was busier than I had expected with loads of screens as you'd expect in a sports bar, they've done a great job with the refurb. Don't go out of your way to eat here but if you're at CSR then it's a solid choice. We were disappointed that Three Bridges wasn't open for lunch like Geyser Point is, hopefully that will change in the future as we never made it there and there was lots on their menu I fancied. Next, Narcoossee's! |

Maybe next year?! I'll be heartbroken if they aren't a returning item.
Definitely not worth 2 credits for me. I think they moved to Signature due to supply and demand rather than their quality of food and service and I should probably have taken that into account. I can't stop chuckling at your dad and the spaghetti. Surely he didn't have a supply large enough to last two weeks, he must have consciously gone out and bought more whilst ignoring all the other tinned options. Briiliant! I wouldn't recommend and normally I am quite keen for people to go and see places for themselves, 2 credits is too much to gamble. Cheat! |

We had same thing at Crystal Palace you’ll see when I post my buffet pics. I thought it was because we were near to end of breakfast. I thought Tusker and Crystal Palace had less choice this year than when we last did them.
