Five Fords Fifth Family Floriday Aug 18 - Day 10 - Magic Kingdom & Sanna

Friday 17th August

We had a very early start this morning as Magic Kingdom was opening at 8am and it was an EMH too!

The beds were super comfy but I had a restless night due to the excitement and also knowing that we’d be getting really early.

I got up at 5.30, mad I know, but I couldn’t sleep so I thought I might as well do something productive so quietly washed and changed. Scott was awake next then lastly the kids.

Jamie and Poppy ate their magic cookie bars for breakfast whilst Hayden and I had some weetabix.

Before we knew it we’d all washed and changed and we were sat in our car at 6.45am! Now that was an early start.

Love this kind of early morning walk

Magic Kingdom ready!

Not surprisingly we were one of the first in the carpark and we were also on the first row of the normal parking.

It was pointless waiting for a tram so off we walked in the beautiful Florida morning sunshine.

The security check at TTC was all new to us but we thought it was a much better way of doing it.

We’ve done this the same way for every first visit to Magic Kingdom and that is we have to get the ferry across. I think it does take a little longer, I’m not sure? But we love to sail across Seven Seas Lagoon.

The ferry was really quiet with only a few other people onboard, it was a perfect start to our morning.

Really quiet as we scanned our magic bands and before we knew it we were walking into our beloved Magic Kingdom.

Now it felt really strange seeing all the Halloween decorations everywhere especially as it was only mid August but the park still looked beautiful and didn’t look too different.

Of course the first thing we did was to have our photo took! Well we had a few done as we slowly walked up Main Street soaking it all in.

The castle looked as perfect as ever and we were blessed with beautiful blue skies and glorious sunshine too.

It was 7.45 before we eventually went on our first ride, 7DMT. We’ve just about always used a fastpass for this one so it felt strange walking through the standard line. Only waited around 15 minutes, what a great way to start our Disney holiday we loved it.

We walked round the side of the castle and had look at wishing well, we’d never stopped to look at it properly before as it’s always been so busy. It was nice that the park was quiet so we could take in details like this.

Making a wish

Next ride was Buzz Lightyear which was as walk on.

The boys all went on Space Mountain next whilst it was quiet. Poppy noticed that there wasn’t a queue for the Astro Orbiter so we headed over here.
I don’t really like rides that just spin you around but I had remembered to take my sickness tablets so I thought I’d give it a go.
Poppy was so excited as she’d not been on this ride before but had always wanted to go on it, another good reason for getting in the park early as it was walk on.

This ride turned out to be ok, it was my first time riding this and I was surprised at how fast it went!

I had quick photopass taken

We met back up with Scott and the lads who’d manage to ride Space Mountain twice! What a great start we were having.

Had a more sedate ride next Winnie the Pooh, this was Poppy’s choice, followed by It’s a Small World which was walk on too.

Quick pit stop as we walked through Fantasy Land!

The time as approaching 10am so nearly time for our breakfast at Be Our Guest.

As I’d pre-ordered our food we walked straight through to the dining hall where we found a table in the Ballroom. This place still wows me it’s so beautiful.

I only ordered 3 meals between us all and with the plate of pastries that comes with the breakfast we figured we had more than enough food between us. Turned out we had more than enough as Scott is not overly impressed with the food here, thinks it’s overrated, so he just had a coffee!

Afterwards though we went into Gaston’s Tavern to get a cinnamon bun for Scott, Well Jamie ended up eating most of it, that’s growing lads for you!

We asked for extra frosting, tip from Disney Food Blog, and we were given a little pot of the sweet stuff. This was our 1st snack credit, couldn’t believe the size of this bun!

First snack credit used!

Our next fastpass was for Big Thunder Mountain, we just love this ride it’s one of our favourites.

Next up was Splash Mountain but Poppy would still not go on this so I took Hayden and Jamie on. We managed to get a little bit wet which was quite welcome as it was a hot day.

Hayden’s choice next was for the Country Bear Jamboree, I don’t think I’ve ever seen it so busy practically all the seats were taken. What a classic this is, I could hear the kids chuckling throughout the show.

Our last fastpass was for Peter Pan another family favourite.

I was able to book another fasspass and the POTC came up so we took that one. It was scheduled for later in the afternoon and we figured we could watch the parade first and then catch the ride afterwards.

We managed to find a shady spot on the floor near to the Liberty Tree Tavern. It was so hot so we were thankful for the shade.

The parade was good but it felt so much shorter? We knew the Dragon wasn’t in the parade but couldn’t work out what else was missing? Still it’s always good to watch a Disney parade.

We used our fastpass on the Pirates of the Caribbean before looking and trying on some of the headgear there.

Time for some more snacks so we headed over to get a dole whip/citrus swirl. They were much needed in order to cool down but they had to be eaten quickly before they melted.

Walked back through the park to the Haunted Mansion, we noticed that the River Boat wasn’t working in fact the water had been drained along certain areas of the river.

The Haunted Mansion was as fab as usual, we wanted a bit of a cool down and a chill so headed over to the People Mover. We just love this ride, nothing better that being whisked around Tomorrow Land.

We then noticed as we walked off the ride quite a few people in fancy dress? We didn’t click at first what was going on but then when we noticed the time was after 4 when realised people were coming in for the first MNSSHP.

The park had got really busy suddenly so we decided to leave the park, we’d been here over 9 hours which is quite a long time by our standards.

There wasn’t really enough time for us to go back to change as it a while time to get to your car from Magic Kingdom. Scott suggested we just drive straight over to our Sanaa ADR at Disney’s Animal Kingdom villas.

When we checked in we asked if possible could we be seated earlier than our 6.15 reservation as we’d arrived quite a bit before then. Still expecting it to be waiting a while before we ate so we took ourselves outside to have a look for some animals, literally 5 minutes later our buzzer went off.

Really enjoyed the food here, we always had, and it was lovely to order an alcoholic drink as part of the dining plan.

Once we’d finished we went back out to the fire pit and looked for any wildlife. There seemed to be plenty of animals roaming around and we spent a good amount of time observing them.

We arrived back at Riverside at 7.30 and Poppy was really keen to go for a swim. Hayden and Jamie wasn’t that bothered so Scott and I took Poppy down to the main pool whilst the lad’s caught up on Youtube!

Well it was all happening down at the pool some kind of Glow with the Flow party! Poppy so enjoyed it! Basically it involved lots of Fortnite dancer’s along with lots of other fun pool games. I sat round the pool and watched Poppy and Scott remembering to apply plenty of the complimentary insect repellent that was offered there.

Stayed there a couple of hours before eventually coming back home for a shower. It had been a full day and I was shattered but what a brilliant first full day we’d had in WDW.

Thanks for reading

What an early start, and a long day. Worth it though, as you got loads done. It's good that most rides were a walk on in the morning. I thought the breakfast offerings at BOG looked really good. Nice dinner at Sanaa to finish off the day.

Yes it was early but we enjoyed walking round a quiet park to start with.
We enjoyed the food apart from Scott
Sanaa is so lovely so glad we went back again on this visit.
