The front desk ruined it for me . It’s sounds dramatic but when you’ve saved hard you never dream in a million years you will stand in a resort you’ve dreamed of crying! Disney have come right but they really spoilt the beginning of our holiday which I cannot relive and my mum won’t travel again.
Crt looks like a right disappointment yet dinner was fabulous . The scallops were perfect . Bog just needs a rocket up it . I’d like to try HBD , looks a lovely restaurant.
Who doesnt love flame tree and mr kamals , they should make a TS just for them

Some absolutely crap food and some outstanding food , don’t you find the less expensive, less popular is so much better . Disney springs is definitely becoming a go to choice .

We found Crystal Palace good this time , slightly better than Tusker but dues t touch the wave . I know no characters but the food choice is excellent. I’d like to do lunch/dinner next time.
I felt the same about vgf . The room was tired but I can say we had stayed there . The resort is beautiful and it’s a shame the rooms don’t reflect the resort anymore but I’m sure they did originally . That’s why I’m torn as to where to pick . WL is still top for Glyn at the moment . Contemporary still does it for me although the poly was up there . Still no idea how the yacht get the deluxe tag at all !

Glyn seems to be a dining plan convert though which amazed me if I’m honest . We are trying to look at 2021 to add some dining as he mentioned it 1 day too late for me to secure next year but this was before Disney came through.
Libertytree lunch was great for us so the next bit will be interesting . great report and it’s takes dedication so hats offf to you
I am amazed to hear that Glyn was a dining plan convert, I was sure he would think it was too much food! Although I suppose when you are so used to OOP it seems like a great bargain.

I didn't know this was your mum's last time, that is very sad.

Mexy- sorry to hear that your Mum’s holiday wasn’t what you expected and anticipated. My parents won’t come with us/ grandkids, even with my sister and her family coming too this time. Can’t imagine if I convinced them and then the t wasn’t up to scratch. X
We were lucky that our issues with the resort didn't really impact on our trip overall, it just left a bit of a nasty taste in my mouth regarding CSR. Thank you for reading!

The characters sound like great fun and the food at breakfast does seem great. We really enjoyed our dinner there back in 2016. Must add it back into the rotation some time.
It is not easy taking buffets photos, especially when someone gets in your way haha.

Definitely visit Wilderness Lodge, it is my favourite, just beautiful.

We really wanted to do dinner but just couldn't make it work this year, hopefully next time!

Hahahaha yes they just need to suck it up for the greater good of trip reports.

I was pleasantly surprised with Park Fare, I had expected for it to be added to the list of underwhelming breakfasts!

LIBERTY TREE TAVERN

This was another piece of Unfinished Business (almost there!) and one I had been looking forward to. We have done dinner before but never lunch and I had always fancied it.

We were waiting to be seated when I got the email saying our room was reading. This was great as it meant we could for a nap before heading back out later. I checked our room view on Touring Plans and then discovered we had been allocated an accessible room. My heart sank, these have wet rooms rather than the amazing DVC bathrooms you usually get. I was immediately plunged into a panic and it likely impinged on the enjoyment of our meal.

You can view the menu here: disneyworld.disney.go/en...-tavern/menus/

None of the appetisers really appealed to either of us so we chose two to share.

Lobster Fritters Fried Lobster and Sweet Corn Fritters with Grilled Lemon Aïoli

These were not pleasant. Very greasy and lots of filler, which I suppose, in a 1 credit restaurant is to be anticipated. The portion size was so big that it was off-putting.

Traveler's Loaded Tavern Fries Crisp Fries, Creamy Beer-Cheese Sauce, House-smoked Pastrami, and Pickled Red Onion

Hmm I felt like the fries could have been fresher, they were a bit limp and soggy. I didn't enjoy the toppings either, and felt they were a bit tight with the cheese. Not off to a good start!

Tavern Battered Fish and Chips House-made Tartar Sauce and Tavern Fries

The fish was lovely, flaky on the inside and a nice crispy batter on the outside. I appreciated the coleslaw on the side, but unfortunately the fish being served on top of the fries meant that like the starter these were soggy. Pairing the fritters and the fish was a bad idea as everything felt very greasy afterwards.

Nik had

Bacon Cheddar Cheeseburger Lettuce, Tomato, Pickle, and Tavern Fries

No issues with this.

I was really keen to get moving to the Grand Floridian but one of the main draws of Liberty Tree Tavern was finally getting to try the Ooey-Gooey-Toffee Cake. We eventually decided to stick around for dessert and we are SO glad we did.

I can't begin to describe how good this is. We were in agreement that the food at LTT was pretty lack lustre but this was incredible and we would go back for it alone. I presumed it would be sponge cake but it was crispy like a biscuit.

Lunch cost $90.08 and we left a $17 tip. We definitely wouldn't do lunch again but I can see us returning for dinner next year.

I was so keen to get back to the check in at Grand Floridian and sort out our room that we cancelled a Mine Train FP!

There's two CMs at check in, one in a suit who I presume is a manager. A lady asks me if she can help and I tell her we'd like to move rooms. She points to the manager and says, 'You'll have to speak to him'. How magical.

The manager says he is busy with another issue, she says she'll deal with that and the manager takes over mine. It was extremely awkward with them bickering between themselves about who was going to deal with what. I also had to explain what I wanted to him again despite the other CM already telling him. Service at CSR was inept with poor communication but this was just rude, at the GF of all places. Luckily there is one studio they can move us to, if there hadn't been we'd have been going back to CSR.

Next, Citricos!

That Croissant aux Escargots at the food and wine featured heavily in the Great British Mickey Waffle podcast, when we reviewed the food and wine offerings - you described it much better than we all thought

It looks better than thought too

Boatwrights is a great hidden gem of a place and the food there certainly surpasses your buffet breakfast at 1900 Park Fayre and the Liberty Tree Tavern, at least the dessert rescued it!
I'm intrigued by your final comments in recent updates about poor customer service from CM's - at The Grand Floridian of all places especially

Lovely photos as always and appreciate your wonderful overview of your holiday together with the food

xx

The Park Fare breakfast breakfast looks really good. We’ve done dinner twice but never breakfast. Not sure we would do as we over do the buffets and if we get ddp I think we will cut down on them.

Liberty Tree Tavern lunch looks a similar thing to The Plaza where it looks like a slightly better qsdp location. We did dinner a few years ago but wouldn’t be tempted to go again.

Looking forward to reading more

Thank goodness for the delicious dessert! The rest does sound disappointing.

Wow, I’d have been raging at that ‘service’ - shocking! I seem to have read a lot of reports like this. I’m glad they got you a room you wanted after all that! We didn’t have any outright rudeness but I can’t say we had much amazing service either...I suspect the cms are too busy for any of that anymore.

Yes it would have been a bit of a disaster if it wasn't for the dessert

This made me chuckle. For several days after we got home I kept reaching for my phone every time we sat down to eat.

The Grand Floridian was the last place I expected to have bad service! It was quite stark in comparison to All-Stars where all the CMs we interacted with were lovely.

I agree about LTT being a slightly better QS location. I certainly prefer Columbia Harbor House. The Plaza was more to our tastes, we would go back there again.

Definitely recommend 1900 Park Fare, a nice surprise and if they served earlier it would be a bit of a must do for the future. We really want to go back for dinner.

I found the CMs in the parks great but the ones in the resorts not so much, which was new for me. Perhaps because this is the first time we've had any problems?! I was lucky that he moved the room without an issue as I'd spent my entire lunch composing what I was going to say if they refused.

We weren't supposed to be eating at Citricos, we were actually supposed to be going to Epcot for dinner but I decided I wanted to make the most of staying at the GF so we snagged a last minute ADR.

CITRICOS

I'd have liked a window table but we were seated by the open kitchen which actually worked out really well as it was fun seeing all of the food being prepped. Those guys work hard!

You can see the menu here: disneyworld.disney.go/en...itricos/menus/

Lovely bread service.

Pâté de Campagne Country Pâté, Watercress, Onion Confit, Cornichons, Mustard Seeds, Focaccia

We had the same starter (sorry, so very boring!). We love pate and it's not often it's served as a full appetiser in Disney rather than just as part of a charcuterie. It was gorgeous.

Florida Red Snapper Shrimp, Mussels, Clams, Fork-mashed Fingerling Potatoes, Bouillabaisse Jus

This was a fantastic dish. I was worried that potatoes would be a bit 'wet' with the jus but they stayed firm. My only issue is that it maybe could have done with a bit more seasoning.

I hate hoped that Nik would order the short ribs but he played it safe and went for the filet.

Oak-grilled Beef Filet Potato Purée, Broccolini, Cipollini Jam, Bordelaise

The bordelaise is too rich for my liking but Nik loves this dish.

Vanilla Bean Crème Brûlée with Assorted Berries

Gorgeous creme brulee with lovely fresh berries. This was my first creme brulee of the trip and I really enjoyed it.

Profiteroles Trio of Gelato Profiteroles and Chocolate Sauce

Nik enjoyed these but I felt like the choux was over done again.

Citricos is a solid choice for a Signature dinner. Although I find the decor a bit dated the restaurant definitely feels more upscale than Narcoossee's. There's a nice mix of dishes on the menu and the service is always good. Dinner came to $172.09 and we left a $33 tip.

It was lovely to just roll home from the restaurant to our room, we definitely felt like our Disney life had peaked stayed at the GF. We were back in the room in time to watch the Electric Water Pageant from our balcony and later we listened to Happily Ever After, unfortunately we couldn't see it from where we were. It was a lovely evening but once the fireworks were over I did consider going back to CSR for the night as our room there definitely trumped this one.
