Five Fords Fifth Family Floriday Aug 18 - Day 16 - Bon Voyage Breakfast, H/Studio's & The Wave

Thursday 23rd August

Slept ever so well and didn’t wake until 7am which for me was a very reasonable time.

I felt really refreshed and ready for another day in Disney World
Scott was up a while after me and then after getting our tea and coffee from the food court we chatted to each out on the balcony.

The kids had a good sleep but did eventually wake up. Poppy and I had an ADR over at the boardwalk so there was no need for any breakfast as we’d be eating it there.

We all showered and got ourselves ready for the day ahead.

To make it easier on ourselves and to save us from having to catch a couple of buses we used an Uber to get over to the Boardwalk. Hayden, Jamie and Scott said they’d get something to eat in Hollywood Studios and we’d meet back up with them over there. They could just use the bus as usual as their first fastpass for Rock n Rollercoaster wasn’t until 11.

Well I used the Uber app for the very first time! A car arrived 5 minutes later and we were at the Boardwalk for 9.50, how fantastic was that.

Because we were there a little early we had a little walk up and down, there were plenty of other people milling around getting their breakfast from the Boardwalk Bakery.

How lovely is it here!

After our short walk we went to check in at Trattoria al Forno. It was very busy in the waiting area and there wasn’t much room for all the waiting guests but because we’d checked in we had to wait there.

It wasn’t too long before we were called and we were seated in a lovely spot near to the bar. Our server came over with some fresh orange juice and we ordered some other drinks too.

I opted for a peach bellini which was so good!

Our pastries were brought over to us and boy they were so delicious. We also received some fruit we’d had so much food already.

The characters all came out then and they were so lovely to everyone. Really chatty with people, they had good conversations and time with everyone.

Flynn came over to us first and it was very lovely to meet this young man. He chatted to Poppy for quite some time which totally made her day.

Rapunzel chatted to us next, she was just so sweet.

Then Prince Eric was next to our table and he was ever so charming!

Ariel was last to say hello and whilst she was really lovely she wasn’t quite as chatty as the other characters but she was very smiley and she signed Poppy’s auto graph book.

Our food came in the middle of the character meets it was very tasty and because Poppy had to have an adult meal we had loads of food, too much for the 2 of us.

What we did eat was so tasty, highly recommend this particular character breakfast. Whilst the setting is a little lack luster the food and characters more than made up for it.

Back out into the beautiful sunshine and the heat we found some shade and waited for the friendship boat to arrive.

So enjoyed the ride over to Hollywood Studio’s it’s a really relaxing way to get there.

Scott and the lads were waiting for us at the entrance and whilst we’d been stuffing ourselves they’d managed to ride the Rock n Roller Coaster and Tower of Terror. So it had been a great morning for us all so far.

We walked through to Toy Story Land as we had a fastpass for the new Slinky Dog ride. The standby line was 60 minutes so I was so glad I booked this all those weeks ago!

Poppy was a little bit unsure about this as we got near to the front but we kept reassuring her so she was fine to give it a go.

Well I was a little surprised at how fast it seemed to go I was expecting something quite mild but it came as a nice surprise.
Poppy absolutely loved it, I was so relieved, infact we’d all loved it and thought it was an excellent addition to the park.

Afterwards we obtained a return time for the Alien ride as Hayden asked to go on it. Of course the wait time was quite long and we still had quite a bit of time until our next fastpass so we went to watch the Little Mermaid show. It was as enjoyable as ever but I think the screen could do with a bit of an update!

It was then over to Sunset Boulevard to watch the Beast and Belle in their wonderfully charming show. I love everything about Beauty and the Beast so this just had to be seen and it never fails to disappoint.

Inside it was full to the brim like the Little Mermaid was, Hollywood Studios was so busy today.

Shows over with we made our way back over to Toy Story Land but we called into the Backlot Express on our way as we were feeling a little puckish.

The grub here was pretty standard park food, burger, fries etc but it was all good and we found a quiet table to sit down and chill for a while.

We grabbed some snacks from the food cart on our way too!

Toy Story Land was so busy and it was quite difficult to walk through but we did eventually make it over to the Alien Swirling Saucers ride. I was a little bit apprehensive about this one because how it spun round I was a little bit worried that I’d end up feeling a bit queasy. I needn’t have worried though as it was a fairly smooth ride and really quite enjoyable. No headache for me…yay!

We then went to Toy Story Mania for a return time and the Cast Member there was so lovely and let us all go on straight away. It was as brilliant as ever – this ride makes me so competitive though!

The time was 4pm we decided to leave then and walked over to the new bus station. As mentioned before it was quite a walk and it offered no shade. Fortunately for us it was a little overcast so that made it a bit more bearable.

Once at the temporary bus stops there was just a parasol to shelter under. A bus driver then came over and said we could wait in an air conditioned bus instead of waiting out in the sun as the next bus wasn’t due for another 15 minutes. Thought that was really good of them so Poppy and I sat on the cool bus until the Riverside one appeared. Scott gave us a shout!

Poppy had a lovely surprise when we entered our room the maid had set her soft toys out and they were all sat watching Disney Junior! It was so sweet.

Once showered and changed we were back out at the bus stop and we didn’t have too long to wait for a bus to take us to Magic Kingdom.

We took the short walk up to the Contemporary Resort as we had a 6.30 reservation at the Wave.

We’d arrived early and expected to wait a while but we were soon seated which was good, as we were all a little hungry.

We ordered our drinks were all good!

Then the food promptly arrived which was also very good, we all enjoyed this meal so much.

Afterwards we caught the monorail over to the TTC and then from there we caught the monorail over to Epcot.

It was dark when we arrived at Epcot, we headed straight over to World Showcase as Illuminations was due to start in 20 minutes. We stayed near to the fastpass area near to the shop as it looked like a good place to stand. Scott took Poppy into the shop to have a look around for 10 minutes.

Illuminations started and it was as brilliant as ever. I just love this show so much, the music is amazing.

Part way through there was some kind of medical emergency within the fastpass area? The medical crew brought a woman out along with her family thankfully she was conscious so hopefully it wasn’t anything too serious.

Everyone continued to watch Illuminations.

What a perfect way to end our day.

Once finished we walked quickly over to the bus stops, again this was all new to us and we had to find the right number bus stop! Well we did and we had to wait quite a while for one to arrive! Still at least we managed to get onto the first bus when it arrived.

Back in our room we did our usual of the kids watching their Youtube and me writing in my journal. Scott watched the weather channel, love this so much then it was lights out at 11.00 after another brilliant day!

That was a long day Julia, but it sounds like you all had a really nice time. It's nice that everyone was able to do what they wanted this morning by splitting up so that you and Poppy could have your lovely character breakfast and the boys got some of the big rides at HS fitted in.

Lovely way to end the evening with Illuminations too.

We did have a great day thanks Lynda and it worked well for us all splitting up for the morning.
Hayden and Jamie would've actually loved the food though at the character breakfast but not so much the characters
