Five Fords Fifth Family Floriday Aug 18 - Day 19 - Akershus Lunch & Walking around World Showcase

Sunday 26th August

Didn’t wake up until 8am which for me really good and quite late too. Everyone else was still fast asleep so I caught up with my journal whilst it was nice a peaceful.

We would be eating some pastries in our room for breakfast as we so needed to be using the snack credits up.

Today we were going to go around World Showcase - I couldn’t wait as I so enjoy walking around all the different countries there.

The kids woke around 9am, we all changed etc then had a quick bite to eat. Didn’t need a great deal as we were having lunch at midday!
There were only a couple of people waiting the bus stop with it being late in the morning. We waited ages for an Epcot bus to arrive it seemed that every other bus came apart from ours lol.

We finally arrived at 11.30 I’d booked a fastpass for Spaceship Earth but it took ages to get through security so I had to cancel it.

On our walk over though I booked a return time for Soarin as I thought we could ride it on our way out of the park.

Once we arrived at Norway, on time thankfully, we had a little wait until we were called in. It was a very hot day and there isn’t a great deal of shade out there apart from a couple of parasols for people to shelter under. I was glad we were called in to get out of the direct sun and to feel the cooling aircon!

Once inside you meet Belle first for a photo, Poppy also got an autograph too.

We were then led to our table which was right at the back of the restaurant in a kind of small alcove. It was the furthest away from the buffet but it felt more private there and seemed quieter. There were only a couple more families located in there.

Our server came over and explained what would be happening, we’ve been here a few times now so knew what to expect but we listened and afterwards we ordered our drinks.

We then noticed Aurora coming around. She visited the 2 other tables near to us then left saying she would visit us later.

Snow White then came over she was very chatty and spoke in a very squeaky voice.

Soon after Ariel came over she was so lovely.

Then Aurora visited our table she spoke to all of us even the boys, Jamie wasn’t impressed lol.

We had our plates so were able to go to the buffet, Hayden had got himself some food and was tucking in so I took Poppy over as I couldn’t see any other Princesses in the vicinity.

Poppy didn’t get much food and soon went back to the table. Turned out Cinderella was there waiting for her to return.

I missed the interaction between them but Scott said she was really sweet and she chatted to everyone.

All the princesses had now visited our table so we could now get on with some eating!

We’d filled our plate from the buffet which had a variety of salads, pasta, cheeses, smoked salmon and other fish too. Hayden and Jamie love this buffet!

Just as I started to tuck in our main dishes arrived. Couldn’t believe how quickly the food had come out!

We barely had any room on the table with there being 10 plates on it along with 10 glasses! Hayden bless him stacked some of the plates on the window sill which did give us a bit more room as it wasn’t long before the desserts were brought out.

I so enjoyed my pasta dish in fact we all said that the food here was really delicious. We’d been given 2 dessert plates and when we next saw our server we asked for a box to take the apple cake away with us.

Whilst we had a good time here especially Poppy seeing the characters and Hayden and Jamie loving the food we were thankful for being on the dining plan as the meal cost over $350. Wow no way was it worth that amount!

Wow the heat hit us when we walked back outside it was lovely to see the sunshine again though.

Mind it was only for a short while as our fastpass time was now open for Frozen Ever After. How sweet is this ride!

Now we could properly start our trip around the world and so we walked back to Mexico. Of course we had to ride the Grand Fiesta ride which always manages to put a smile on our faces.

We looked round the market afterwards which we so love to do. I think this place feels so real and I like how it feels like night time here. Mexico is one of my favourite pavilions.

Poppy picked up the kidcot activity which had changed to a small card which you could still colour in. Came with a little plastic bag which looked like a little case and you received a sticker to put on your case. So cute!

We quickly went back into Norway just to pick up the card and sticker. Also had to have a photo took with the Troll as it’s a tradition.

China was our next stop where we had a really good look around the shops here. Scott bought a couple of cocktails for us both, these proved to be quite strong.

As we passed by the outpost we used up a few more snack credits on some coca cola slushie’s for the kids which they really enjoyed. Perfect way to cool down as the day was a really hot one.

In Germany Hayden picked up a couple of bags of Werther’s Original’s in some flavours that we’d not seen or tried before.

We also couldn't resist looking at all the Christmas ornaments here which are so pretty.

Poppy continued to fill her little bag up with the cards from the countries and our next stop was Italy. We watched the mime artist for a while doing his juggling act, he was actually quite funny.

Scott got me a glass of wine whilst we were standing there gosh it was a tiny glass.

Onto America next where we caught the last few minutes of the Voices of Liberty, wow their voices are just incredible. Hayden wanted to watch the American Adventure so we went to watch the next showing of it. We’ve seen it before but it was interesting to watch again.

Disney ducks!

Whilst entering the Japanese pavilion Jamie noticed some people with a Kakigori and decided that he needed one.

Jamie chose the cherry flavoured shaved ice snack.

Just then the Japanese drummers came out and started playing we were in awe of these drummers. The energy and strength those ladies have is amazing.

Poppy was in her element whilst we looked around the shop in Japan and wanted to buy everything. In the end though we left empty handed after walking around in here for what seemed like ages.

Once back outside we saw that it was raining, nothing too heavy so we continued with our walk over to Morocco.

As we approached we could hear music and singing too, there was a band playing called Sahara Beat who was quite a lively bunch! We couldn’t help but have a little dance as we watched as the music was quite infectious!

After having a really good look around the Bazaar we grabbed some food from the Tangerine Café. The food here is so delicious and the quick service meals are easily shareable as the portion sizes are quite large.

We decided to get a dessert from the next country on our walk around World Showcase which happened to be France.

I treated myself to a strawberry tart which was absolutely divine!
The kids opted for an ice cream from L’Artison des Glaces which they all agreed were very delicious.

Next stop of course is the UK which we just love to have a nosy around. We could hear the band playing towards to rear a mixture of good classic rock.

Our last stop was Canada which we just had a brief walk around. Poppy got her last card and sticker when meant she’d completed her tour, she received a postcard for her efforts which made for a lovely little keepsake of her day.

Hayden said he was feeling a little hungry and that he’d like to have some poutine like the one from last night. Now we weren’t even sure if we could even get any even though we were in Canada. We looked round and eventually found the refreshment port which had poutine on the menu. It was different but Hayden really enjoyed them and it was just a snack credit.

We walked over to the Land to Soarin it was just after 8pm. It was such a beautiful evening and the Epcot ball was a beautiful colour.

Soarin was as amazing as always, we waited quite a while to get on the ride and by the time we’d finished it was nearly 9pm. We decided to leave then, we knew we would be able to watch Illuminations another night.

When we got to the bus stop it was really quiet probably due to everyone still being in Epcot watching Illuminations. In the distance we could see fireworks we think it was Happily Ever After? They looked really good from that viewpoint.

Our bus arrived and it remained quiet, felt a bit strange going home from a park and being able to get a seat!

Once back in our room we couldn’t stop laughing at what the maid had done with Poppy’s soft toys. She’d arranged them around the phone to look as if they were ordering pizza! Too cute!

The boys wanted to chill for a while and we left them to listen to their music and some Youtube whilst we took Poppy down to catch the last bit of High School musical. This was the film for Movie’s under the stars. We sat ourselves down on some towels and a cast member asked which flavour popcorn we wanted. Poppy had the salty version. I was nearly dropping off again!

Once the film had finished we called into the food court to get ourselves a hot chocolate then went back to the room to shower and change for bed.

Poppy got a little upset when I told her we only had 1 more day at Riverside.

We watched a bit of TV before turning the lights out at 11.30.
What a day we had had at World Showcase, I love this place so much and we all said it had been one of our favourite days so far

What a wonderful day around the World Showcase. Lovely photos around the countries, it sounds like you had a really good explore around. It's nice that the Poppy could do the kidcot activity to hold her interest around the showcase. This is something we really want to do, just take a day and really explore all of the shops and restaurants in the different countries.

Your meal at Akershus looks lovely, but it seems as though they were rushing you a bit with the speed they were bringing the dishes out.

We so loved our day in World Showcase it's a relaxing way to spend a day. I hope you manage to do something similar Lynda on one of your visits.

They do like to get you in and out of these character meals quickly!
